A technological nomad

That evening

It had been more than 3 hours, no one even passed by that road, neither did that old man returned. Rob was curious and tired of waiting. His wounds were fresh, he couldn't move much.

There were several thoughts in his head related to that old man. Every question has just one answer 'that old man' but even he left somewhere.

While he was thinking about this, someone knocked the door.

Rob stayed quiet.

A girl whispered. please open the door. No one has to know. Uncle John! Uncle John! (crying). They killed him. I was passing by the market and heard people talking about Robinson. He's gone...

Rob comes and pulls her inside.

The moment he saw her he was surprised. She looked exactly like Dove (his school crush). And so was that girl. She thought he was dead. She hugged him tightly and started asking questions about where he was.

Rob pretends to be Robinson and acted as if he lost his memory. He said I dont know, I was stabbed and lost conscious. When I wokeup, I was in here.

I dont even know where I am and who are you people!

Girl: Hi! I'm Nadia. And that old man is my uncle John. He is the only member left in my family. When they were planning to kill your dad, my dad and uncle tried to stop them. They killed my dad and mom but luckily my uncle and I escaped.

Rob: If they're trying to kill you and everything happening to you is because of my family then why did John save me? Why didnt he just leave me there all by myself, letting animals feed on me?

Nadia: Because my uncle had his words. He promised your dad; he'll look after you. He has to take care of us. You and I, we both are all alone left by ourselves in this cruel world. Even if you've forgotten everything " I believe in you, and I know we're gonna make it to the end" . Even if there's no one YOU'LL ALWAYS HAVE ME BY YOUR SIDE, ALWAYS AND FOREVER.

Rob (getting all emotional) : Now what are we supposed to do Nadia?

Nadia: let's wait for Uncle John. He has solutions for all our problems. But where's he? Do you remember anything? Did he tell you anything?

Any details on that?

Rob: He said he'll be back in few hours.

Nadia: Did he not tell you where he was going?

Rob: Specifically no... Yeah but I do remember him talking about going to the market.

Nadia: Wait what!? to the market? You know it's not safe for him to go in that direction. If anyone finds out about him returning to the town, he can get killed.

Rob: let's just hope for the best and not think about anything wrong happening to anyone of us.

There was a complete silence in that room until...

{door knocking}... Girl I know you're in here. Open the door. C'mon girl open the door, dont be so silly. I have some news about your stupid uncle.

Nadia's hiding me

Nadia: Robinson! honey listen stay in here. Dont move, I'll handle him.

Rob: let me do this for you!

Nadia: they cant know about you. Trust me in this. Just stay in here.

Nadia opens the door...

...It was a guard. Fully armed. He was there to threaten her.

Guard: How many times are we supposed to tell your family to stay out of it. These matters are bad for you guys. Your uncle is all locked up there. They've made him a prisoner and he might also get killed.

Nadia: Why didn't you save him? Steve he raised you. You're like a son to him. He's been there for you whenever you needed him.

Guard made a gesture towards the door...

He whispered something to Nadia.

(Guard handing over a note to Nadia and asking her to play along.)

There was someone standing near the door. Waiting for some news of Prince. Nadia acting like she's arguing with Steve.

She grabs a rod and acting to kick her out of the house.

Steve: Meet me near the old well. Rest everything's written in that note. Dont be late. I wont be able to keep them distracted.

He left. Nadia took care of everything. Even Steve didn't knew about me. It was just between Nadia and Uncle John.

Nadia started reading the note...

it said:

Nadia dont get me wrong but if I dont act like I dont care they'll kill me and you as well. Uncle is safe. He's under my protection now but, I wont be able to keep him with me for more time.

They're planning to shift him there... I hope this information is more than enough... rest I know you're smart enough to make a decision.

Meet me near that old well. They've broken his feet make sure to bring someone with you. I can keep them distracted for the night. You have to leave the town before sun rises. I've arranged a cart and a house in Towton.

She made sure there was no one out and locked the door. She brought me out of that room and asked me to relax. She started packing important stuffs into a bag. When I asked what's wrong she said... We gotta leave. They're after us. I'll be back in an hour. If I dont return, this bag and leave. No one has to know about you. Steve gave me this note and asked me to trust him. I'll go by the well to bring uncle back but I dont feel right. I think it's their plan to get me out of their way.

Rob: Nadia wait dont go... please I don't know anyone here, nor I can trust them. I dont know who'll stab me the next moment.

Nadia: Robin honey I know you've lost me before but then things were different. At that time we knew we would meet. Now there's no tomorrow if we dont survive.

And so, Nadia left...
