Richard folded his arms and leaned, looking at the foot of Judah's hospital bed. There was a strong tension between them. Judah’s face was pale and sunken, his body still weak from the blood loss. But his eyes were sharp, carrying the same defiance that Richard remembered all too well. Richard broke the silence first. "Is that the way to talk to someone who just saved your life?" His voice was suddenly calm. Judah blinked, clearly caught off guard. "What did you say?" The nurse, who had been tidying up the equipment in the corner, turned around and smiled kindly at Judah. "He’s right. Mr. Richard donated blood for you. We were out of O-positive, and if it weren’t for him stepping up, you might not have made it."
