Breakfast at the Carter mansion that morning was devoured in silence, complimented with cheerful gestures and fake smiles from Ivory and Darwin.
Ivory noticed how Darwin kept averting her gaze. He was sitting next to Henry, an act which was quite rare. His place at the table since he arrived at the mansion had always been next to Ivory.
Elijah had asked the staff to take his breakfast upstairs including Becky's. Ivory concluded; Becky was in Elijah's room.
