Rendezvous

Chapter 2

Xavier tilted his head and looked at me. Our gazes locked, I felt breathless, his eyes were so beautiful, I felt hypnotised.

His face showed no rage, completely blank a man void of emotions.

It then happened again. I sneezed again with him, looking at me directly.

I gasped and covered my mouth. What was happening. Did I have to be so unlucky today?, he raised a brow at me and I knew what it meant, the end of my career, I would write a resignation letter beforehand to spare myself the disgrace.

"Xavier," a screeching voice was heard approaching us. His eyes darted towards that direction, and he didn't look so good.

"Babe!!" She screamed again " ooh I didn't know you were in a meeting, oops" she said with her clawed fingers covering her lip filled lips, she looked so fake and disgusting, how does Xavier know someone like that, not that I care. I just want to know.

"I bought two dresses and I don't know which one to wear for our date tonight," she said, pouting, eew, Xavier was dating someone like that, I expected more from him.

"Take her away," Xavier said with a stern voice. Oh, calm down boy she is still your girlfriend, no matter how fake she looked. I might not like the way she looked, but I am still a girly girl.

But wait, Xavier wasn't the type to react to anything, no matter how angry he was, and here he was talking with a really stern voice and a look to kill. I wish he gave me that kind of anger when I sneezed. He would be giving me more attention, at least, snap out of it, Halle.

Security came and dragged her away. She was kicking into the hair and screaming for them to release her. Weirdo.

Xavier started the meeting shortly after, I did just what I was meant to do, I noticed my h.o.d looking at me pitifully, I get it, I was so good at what I was doing and also at my job but a sneeze, okay maybe 2 sneezes just have to snatch my source of income from me.

Tech Innovations agency is one of the highest paying agencies in all of canada, only the best are chosen here, I guess I have to go back to where I started. Life is so unfair.

The meeting ended an hour later, thank goodness Xavier didn't spare me a glance , he only said few things like "okay" "yeah", he guess he was also bored like I was.

Why exactly do I keep calling him Xavier and not Mr Caldwell, he was my boss, and we are not close in any way.

I guess it doesn't really matter, I would get fired after all, and why is that? A sneeze caused it.

I really don't want to go, I get to see my best friends regularly and the pay is really high, I am not ready to let go yet.

I headed back to the marketing department with a sad look on my face.

" Hey girl, what happened ? Did you see the hottie?" Alexa said as she approached me with a grin on her face.

"I saw the hottie, he was so hot and dreamy, but guess what also happened?" I said slowly

"What?" Alexa said with so much enthusiasm written on her faces, if only she knew.

"I sneezed in front of him, not just once but 2 times," I said again, Noah was here already, and the look on both their faces was priceless.

"It's a joke, right, good one," Noah said, but when he saw how I neither smiled or laughed, he got it.

"You are being serious?" Alexa asked, and I nodded slowly

"You sneezed in front of Mr Caldwell?" Noah asked again to be sure, and I nodded again to confirm.

"Are you insane? Why would you do that?" Alexa asked

"It was a reflex action it just happened when I saw his face. He was too handsome to handle," I said and let out a fake cry

"That is absurd," Noah said

"I know, I know, I was so absurd, but I couldn't help it," I said

"I can feel my dream of having a house in Belmont estate shattering," I lamented

"You can never get a house there it is too expensive..." Noah said

"And why can't I, never give up, never what?" I said with a determined voice

"Back down, I guess," Alexa said, " but only millionaires live there,"

"I have savings," I said

"Even your savings for twenty years can't get you a house there," Noah said

"I have faith," I said

"You are getting fired girl, where would you see a job that pays this much?" Alexa said

"Calm down, girl. You don't need to rub it on my face," I said

"I heard Mr Caldwell has a penthouse in Belmont estate." Alex rudely interrupted, but I wasn't complaining.

"Really?" Alexa said

"Yes, and he has the most expensive on there," Alex said

"I suddenly wish to be the chairman's daughter. Imagine all I would have," I said dreamingly.

"Work is so boring," Noah said, changing the subject. He brought out his headphones and put it on, and selected a song on his phone to listen to.

"Mr Black, are you listening to music?" Our VP yelled

Noah quickly removed his headphones. " No, i am on a video call with the finance department," he said

"Do you take me for a fool Mr black?"

"No ma'am"

"Then get back to work,"

"What a witch," Noah curses before going back to work, I will really miss this office drama.

I spent the day running from finance to marketing and then back again, I decided to put in all my effort as it was my last day here after all.

As I was packing my things, clearing my desk to be precise, of the employees here came running to us. She was none for are accurate gossips, so here we go again.

"Did you guys hear?" She said

"What?" Alexa asked

"Mr Caldwell fired the h.o.d's secretary"
