Charlotte
May is here, giving me details about her day yesterday, but I can’t keep up. I kept zoning out.
"Are you okay, Charlotte?"
"Yeah, I’m good. I’m going to go to the bathroom really quick," I said, then bolted for the bathroom without waiting for a response.
I washed my mouth and splashed water on my face, hoping it would tame the pounding headache. I’m very tired and dizzy, but I hope I can make it to my desk. I turned and bumped into hard flesh, and I knew it was Damian.
"You didn’t need to come here," I said, trying to stabilize myself.
"We’re heading home. We’ll see the doctor there."
"But you have a lot to do, and it’s nothing to worry about."
"I’ve got May to pack your things, and your bag is already in the car," he said, carrying me bridal style.
"Damian, I can walk. Besides, it’s just PMS."
"Let’s say I didn’t hear anything."
"Am I not being a burden on you?"
"You’re never a burden on me. I’m happy when you’re happy, and I’ll kill any soul that makes you shed a single tear. Your every wish is my command."
I don’t want people to see you in a different way when you’re with me," I whispered as we got to the ground floor. The already quiet place, with little murmuring, was deadly silent. Everyone went about their business after seeing us.
"I don’t care about them. I only care about you."
"I’m not used to anyone taking care of me." I closed my eyes when we got outside; the sun was so bright.
"You have me now, cupcake. Daddy’s going to take care of you," he said, placing me gently into the car.
"Okay," I trailed off, sleep overtaking me.
I woke up a few hours later to see the doctor leaving.
"How are you feeling?"
"Better than before," I said, trying to get out of bed.
"What do you want to do?" he asked, helping me out.
"I want to take a shower."
He sat there in the bathroom with me from start to finish and insisted on helping me even though I told him I got it.
"You’re really doing too much for me, and I really feel bad that you’ve got so many important things to do, but..."
His lips crashed into mine, taking me by surprise. The kiss was anything but gentle.
"If not for our little visitor," he said, tracing the hem of my shorts, "I would have f****d you, hard and long, to reset your mind and make you crave and think of nothing else but me, royalty treatment, and pleasure."
I looked at him, like he had just dropped from space. He doesn’t look like he’s joking either.
"That’s a first," I said, looking down.
"I meant what I said earlier, cupcake," he said, lifting my head with his right hand. "There’s nothing that’s going to change how I feel about you." He placed his left hand on my hand, which was on his chest. I nodded.
"Do you need anything else?" he asked as he tucked me into bed.
"Can you stay?"
"As my cupcake wishes."
He got under the covers and cuddled me while I rested my head on his chest.
"I always like it when you hold me tight," I whispered, feeling sleepy already. "I’ll hold you tight every now and then from now on," he said, placing a kiss on my forehead.
I kept rambling. I’m sure I’m not making any sense to him. I’m just pouring out incomplete sentences and giggling at some point. I stopped talking and drifted off to sleep, listening to his heartbeat.
Damian
I listened to her as she talked about random things. She said she’s not making any sense, but she’s making perfect sense to me. I feel at ease every time she laughs, talks, and is herself. I held her tight and hoped she felt how my heart beat for her.
I must have drifted off to sleep because the only thing I kept hearing was the constant vibration of my phone.
"Finally, we thought you died," Fred said, laughing when I answered.
"Just run when you see me."
"Noted. Anyway, we’re already in your private office."
"Okay, I’ll be there," I said, then hung up.
I managed to get out of bed without waking Charlotte. I got dressed and headed for my office. I met Mrs. Jones on my way.
"Can we have some snacks for 10 people, a fruit salad, and chocolate for Charlotte brought up to my office?"
Yes, Mr. Johnson. It will be brought up in a minute."
"Thank you."
I have a feeling she'll wake up soon and come looking for me, which I hope she does.
We settled down, catching up with every member of the association. The maids brought in the snacks seconds later.
"Someone’s looking way happier than usual," Fred said, obviously texting May.
"I would have been happier if you hadn't destroyed my peaceful time," I said.
We started the meeting right after our chitchat, which is not a common thing with our dad, but Sebastian and I love to have this solidarity relationship with whoever we work with. Guess who decided to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the place?
"Didn’t you miss me?" Pamela asked, battering her fake lashes.
"I wonder who invited you here," Sebastian said, not too pleased with her showing up.
"I decided to come here myself since you decided not to invite me. Now back to my daddy," she said, turning her attention on me.
I stared at her, trying to figure out if there was still anything that got me so obsessed with her and so head over heels in love with her. None at all makes me feel anything for her, not anymore.
"You can’t just ignore me, daddy," she said, getting closer with her arms outstretched.
"As we were saying," I said, completely ignoring her existence.
"You’re not supposed to ignore me," she screamed, not that I care. The door opened, and everyone stood up for my cupcake.
"You guys just didn’t give respect to this b***h," she shouted, ready to attack Charlotte.
"Let one strand of hair get harmed, and that will be your last minute on earth," I said, watching her turn pale.
"Hello guys," she greeted. They responded and took their seats. "I’m so sorry for interrupting your meeting," she continued, looking so beautiful with her messy hair and teddy bear as she got closer.
"Come here, cupcake," I said, patting my laps. She straddled me, resting her head on my shoulder. I love this.
"You should never apologize for wanting to be wherever I am, okay?"
"Yes daddy."
"Besides, I was expecting you. I got fruit salad and chocolate."
We continued the meeting, with me feeding her and Pamela glued to the spot.
"I wonder how you managed her for that long," Fred said, while the others laughed. Pamela left, as she couldn’t stand this.
My phone screen came on as Fred’s name popped up on my screen.
"Charlotte will like it. You’re welcome," he chuckled when I looked at him. I rolled my eyes.
"Like...?" she asked.
"I showed her the picture Fred sent.
"I like it. It’s cute."
"Then we should take a lot of pictures together," I said, setting the picture as my wallpaper.
"Really?"
"Yeah."
"Okay." She hugged me.
"Before we forget, we have a gala to attend next week," Sebastian reminded us.
Yeah, right, I forgot about that. I need to get extra protection for cupcakes.
"Don’t worry, we’ve got everything under control for the safety of Charlotte. For you, you can go and die; we really don’t care," Fred said.
"I'm fully aware of that," I said, while the others laughed.
"Don't worry about us; we're mostly not the main target, but we have security in check for everyone," Sebastian said.
"Trust us; we won't let any harm come your way," one of the men said.
"I thought we agreed on him going to die," Fred asked.
"Apparently, you’re the only one that wants me dead," I laughed.
"That’s sad," he said, the others joining in with laughter.
I looked down to find Charlotte sleeping. I assume that’s one of the side effects of the painkiller.
"Little Missy does look pretty asleep," one man chirped in.
I smiled, pushing the strands of her hair from her face.
"We miss seeing you this happy," Sebastian said.
"I feel at peace with myself when I’m with her. It feels nice."
"We’re glad," they said.
After a few more discussions, we ended the meeting. They left quietly since Cupcake was still sleeping. I picked up my phone to admire the picture.
"Daddy, where’s everyone?"
"They’ve left."
"I must have made you sit here all this while," she said, getting up and stretching her cute self.
"I was comfortable listening to you breathe; besides, they left not long ago."
"Okay."
"Do you want to do something?" I got up, trapping her between the desk and me.
"No, I’m too tired. I need to reserve energy for tomorrow."
"Good. May will be with you for the rest of the week," I said, taking out my black card and handing it to her. "The code is 6231."
"Wait...what? What about work?"
"You’re not going to work for the rest of the week. You need to rest."
"What am I supposed to do then?"
"I don’t know. You can shop and do all the fun girl’s stuff," I laughed.
"But..."
"Maybe I should start punishing you anytime you say the word but," I said, taking out my belt.
"Daddy."
Yes, cupcake," I responded, moving my hand down her chest.
"Can you kiss me?"
"You don’t need to ask," I said, leaning in.
My right hand found its way to her neck, slightly applying pressure as I locked lips with her. My hand moved from her neck to the back of her head, deepening the kiss. I trailed kisses from her lips down to her neck, gently pulling her hair to get more access.
"Daddy," she moaned.
"Mmm...," I mumbled, still leaving hickeys across her shoulder.
"About the gala, what am I supposed to wear? First of all, am I..."
"Yes, you’re going with me; that’s if you want to go. Wear whatever you’re comfortable with. Be yourself. I don’t care if you want to run around, be tough, act childish, or make a mess; as long as you’re happy, I’ll also be happy." I placed a kiss on her cheek.
"Thank you," she said, hugging me.
"For?"
"Everything. For making me your priority, for caring about me, and for loving me." She raised her head, staring at me.
"You don’t need to thank me," I said, cupping her pretty face. "You deserve everything. I love you so much that I feel I’m not doing enough to show you how I feel about you,’ I continued.
"You are. I’m so happy to be with you. I love you too," she smiled.
"I hugged her, holding her tight. That’s all I needed to hear. She loves me.
