Chapter Two

1422 Words
Charlotte I woke up at the usual time and went about my normal morning ritual. I have dressed in a simple, flowy knee-length dress since today is the last day of the week. It was 7 a.m. when I was done with everything. I walked out, locking the door. As I got to the end of the driveway, Damian's car stopped right in front of me. "Mmm, right on time," he said when I got in. "Good morning, Damian," I said after settling in. "Good morning, dear. I hope you enjoyed your night," he asked. Oh yeah, I did enjoy my night with you. I thought. "Yeah, I did; thank you for asking," I said, pushing out the thoughts. "I hope you enjoyed yours?" I asked. "It would have been better if you were in bed with me," he said, his mind on the road. My cheeks were burning. I'm sure I look red as a tomato, and his comment made me wet. This was not something I was expecting this early in the morning. "Well, that's..." I shuttered, looking for the right word to say. "Unexpected," he said, his smirk widening. "Yeah," I managed to say. I wish I could slap that smirk off his face. "Do you mind if I play some music?" I asked. "I don't have a problem with it," he replied. I finally got cool music to play after having to skip a whole bunch of them because it was too early for erotic songs, which I wasn't planning to make matters worse. "Why do you have a lot of erotica songs?" I asked. "Because I'm a romantic guy," he replied. I rolled my eyes. Well, he's not bad. We finally arrived at the company, for which I was glad. "You know you shouldn't stare at me," I said when I realized he was looking at me. "Why shouldn't I?" he asked, with his eyes still on me. "Because you shouldn't," I responded. "When I have a beauty to behold, I can't help but get lost in the pool of her eyes," he said. "Do you have to be flirty this early in the morning?" I asked, alighting. "With you, yes," he replied. He headed towards the building, with me walking behind him. "Oh, one more thing. I don't want you walking behind me," he said, turning and waiting for me to get closer. "It's either you walk beside me or in front of me. And I prefer the latter; I'd like to see things," he winked. I rolled my eyes. "I guess I'd opt for the former." I gave him a sweet smile. "If we weren't in the parking lot," he said, snaking his arm around my waist, "I'd have kissed that lip gloss off your lips." His face was a few inches away from mine, and I could feel his breath on my cheek. Giving me a peck on the cheek, he let go of me. "What just happened?" I thought. "Earth to Charlotte," he said, snapping me out of my trance. "I think if I don't drag you out of here, you'll be here thinking that only God knows what's running through your mind," he said, dragging me along. We arrived at the entrance hand in hand, laughing at random topics. "Mr. Johnson," I heard Jane's high-pitched voice say a few feet away from us. "Yes?" he answered, not too pleased with this encounter early this morning. "I think I should get going," I announced. "No, I'm walking you to your office, Charlotte," he said. Jane rolled her eyes, frustrated that I had more attention than she did. How sad? "Are you free this weekend?" she finally asked, with that fake smile of hers. "No, I'd be hanging out with Charlotte. Is anything urgent coming up?" Damian asked. Wait what? Did he just say that? It's not like we decided on a hangout or something. Well, he just made me her potential enemy. "Erm, nothing important," she said, staring at me like I had just dropped from space. "I'd send your schedule for today," she said before going in, looking red with rage. "I didn't know we had a hangout over the weekend," I said. "Well, now you know. And I'm not taking no as an answer," he said. "Okay. What if I don't want to go?" I asked. "I'd just come and carry you from your home," he responded. "I'm in a mess," I chuckled. Everyone was just staring at us, making me feel self-conscious all of a sudden. "Do you realize you're still holding my hand?" I asked, since I tried taking my hand out of his grip, only for him to tighten it. "Yes, and?" he asked, not bothered about the stares. "And you do realize people are staring," I sighed. "Yeah, and I don't mind people staring at the most beautiful lady I have right beside me," he replied. It's been a really long time since someone gave me nice compliments, and it's kind of flattering. We finally got to my office after getting a lot of death glares from the ladies in my department. "I'd come pick you and May up for lunch," he said. I nodded. Erm, Damian," I said before he left. "Yes?" he answered. "Thank you," I said, playing with my fingers. He came closer, pecking me on the cheeks. "Don't mention it," he said before leaving. "Charlotte," May said a minute after he left. ''I just saw Mr. Johnson, and rumors have it that he walked you here," she continued. "Erm, yeah, he did," I answered, prepared for a ton of questions thrown at me. "Like what?" she screamed. "Girl, chill. Someone would think I was killing you." I laughed. "And before I forget, we'd be having lunch with Damian today," I said. "I get to eat lunch with you and the CEO; you've got to be kidding me," she said, her eyes wide open. "I'm not kidding you; before, you'd be surprised at lunch," I said. "You called him by his first name," she whispered. "I can feel there's going to be a heated romance between you two," she continued. I just laughed. He made a lot of flirty comments yesterday and today; does he really mean what he says? I'm skeptical about comments and things from a lot of people. I don't want to be vulnerable again. "We have to start with work. I'll be here when it's time for lunch." May said this before heading out of her office. Let's see how this day goes, shall we? Damian I met Fredrick on my way to the office. "You're early today," he said, making himself comfortable in the chair in front of my desk. "Yeah, I wanted to drive Charlotte here." I answered. "Mmmm. You're beginning to get too obsessed with her," he said. "Yeah, I don't know if I should be overwhelmed or bothered. I'm kind of happy, though." I spoke. After what happened with my ex-girlfriend, I've become someone different from the original me. She turned me into a cold-hearted beast, with no pinch of mercy in my dark heart. I've become a psychopath, and I could kill if I had to. "You can do it. And I'm very positive she will help you change into a better person," he said. "I'm afraid she might not stay to change me." I said, facing one of the floor-length windows of my office. . "Trust me, she will." He said this, patting me on the shoulder. "The meeting is in a few minutes. I'll see you there." He continued, leaving me to my thoughts. "Mr. Johnson, the meeting is in 5 minutes. Can we head out?" Jane asked. What's with her just appearing without alerting me? I just walked out, heading to the conference room. I don't care about what she thinks or feels at the moment. I won't have to deal with her anymore after today. I need to clear my mind for now and focus. With Jane right on my heels and a deep breath, I walked into the room. A few hours later, the meeting was over, and I was able to secure a contract for a building project. Now it’s time to have a lunch date with the only person who lights up my dark side. "We’re going to the restaurant with Charlotte and May. I hope you don’t mind." I asked Frederick, to which he replied that he was okay with it. I went straight to her office.
