Chapter Nine

1908 Words
Frederick "Don't worry. He'll meet her at home," his dad said. Damian turned and left. "I'll be right behind you," Sebastian said, signaling to his men. I ran after Damian. He was walking in a daze, laughing. Okay, this isn't going to be good. He got in the car as I did. Starting the engine, he drove off, hitting the accelerator. I can see from the mirror that his brother and his men were following us. It's midnight, and there's not much traffic on the streets. As we got closer to his place, I began to wonder what would happen this time. Charlotte May is just sitting on the sofa, admiring Fred's pictures on her phone. Some Cloud Nine events are really making people act differently. "You need to get some sleep, Charlotte," Pat said. "I can't," I whispered. "Don't worry, he'll be fine." Fynn said. There was a knock on the door. Fynn opened the door, and a lady walked in like she had just walked out of a magazine. "I hope Damian is home," she asked in a not-so-sexy voice. I rolled my eyes. "No, he isn't, so I'll have to ask you to leave." Fynn answered. Aww, honey, he's expecting me, so you can't tell me to leave. I'll just wait for him," she said, walking past him. He rolled his eyes. He's not ready for this shy attitude. "I'm assuming you guys are the new maids who don't know the rules here," she said. "I hope that b***h didn't just disrespect us and call us maids," May said, without giving her a glance. "I'll make sure he fires you," she shouted. Just then, Damian walks in, followed by Fred and a guy with similar features to Damian. I stood up but stayed in the same position, shocked. He's covered in blood. The lady tried stopping him, but he walked right past her. His voice was low as he got closer. He hugged me, holding me tight as if I would disappear at any moment. "I'm a monster, "he said, laughing softly. "You chose her over me," Blondie shouted, obviously not happy with him ignoring her. He pointed the gun at her. "I'm right here, Daddy." I said, rubbing my hands on his back. "I'm not going anywhere." I continued. He let go of me, looking straight into my eyes. "I'm not going anywhere, Daddy," I repeated. He carried me and headed upstairs. He went straight to his office. Setting the gun down on the table, he sat down, making me straddle him. We just sat there in silence. No one came up to the office, so I’m assuming they didn’t want to disturb us. I stared at Damian. His eyes were closed, and he was breathing normally. I don’t think he’s hurt, but I can’t be so sure. "Daddy..." I whispered as I pushed the blood-covered strands of hair out of his face. "Cupcake," he whispered back before opening his eyes. "Are you hurt?" I asked, my hand moving down from his hair to the side of his face. "No," he smirked. "Okay, let’s go." "Where are we going?" "Bathroom, then bed. You need to rest." "Cupcake..." "Let Cupcake take care of you, Don." His smirk reappeared, his eyes darker than usual. "Say it again." His husky voice sent shivers down my spine. "Don," I whispered. "Louder!" he squeezed my ass. "Don," I moaned his title clearly. "That’s much better," he mumbled. I got off him, and he followed suit. Heading straight into the bathroom, I turned the shower on. I turned while placing my hair in a bun and found him leaning on the counter, staring at me. "Is there anything you want me to get for you?" I asked as we left the bathroom. "No." "Okay. Just stay in bed; I’m going to check on the others." I turned to leave, but he got hold of me. "Forget about them." "But..." "Please stay." His voice was a whisper at this point. "Okay," I said, then got under the covers, lying on my back. Damian got in, resting between my legs with his head on my chest. He fell asleep after a few minutes. I continued rubbing his back and running my hand through his hair. It felt so satisfying to do; I don’t know if he was enjoying it, though. There was a slight knock on the door. "Come in," I whispered, hoping Damian wouldn’t wake up, and the person knocking heard me. Fred and Damian’s lookalikes came in. "I hope we didn’t wake you up," Fred asked. "No, not at all," I replied. "This is Damian’s brother, Sebastian." Fred introduced Damian’s lookalike. No wonder they had similar features. "It’s nice to finally meet you, Charlotte," Sebastian said. "I heard a lot about you from Fred a few minutes ago." He continued. "It’s nice to meet you too." I smiled. "We just wanted to check up on you guys. We’ll talk more in the morning," Fred said. "Okay. Thank you," I said. They both nodded, then quietly left the room. I soon drifted off to sleep. Damian To say I’m obsessed is an understatement. I woke up several times during the night to check if she was still in bed with me and to be sure she was the one lying in bed with me. I held her tight. I hope I’m not squeezing her to death, though. I felt her move her hand through my hair; it felt so soothing. "Cupcake..." "Yes daddy?" "Aren’t you scared of me?" I asked quietly. I don’t really know what to expect. No, daddy," she responded. I sat up in bed, stretching my body. She just stared at me, then covered her face. "I thought you liked what you saw," I said. "I do, but it’s too early, and we’ll be late for work," she said. "I don’t mind getting to work late. I don’t mind skipping today and just being between your legs," I said, moving my hand down her thigh. "Because you own the company, so basically yeah." She said this before removing the covers from her face. She looks tired. "Did I make you uncomfortable last night?" "No, you didn’t. I’m fine; don’t worry about me." "I can’t help it. I won’t be okay if you’re not," I said, taking her hand. "I’m fine, okay?" Her eyes searched mine. I nodded, because I’d be lying if I said I was okay. We headed to the bathroom to prepare for the day. I could just call Fred and tell him we wouldn’t be coming. Oh yeah, I forgot he was here with my brother. We went downstairs after getting dressed. Everyone was quiet when we entered the kitchen. "Why does it look like we interrupted a drug deal?" I asked, running my hand through my hair. "We want to be sure we’re not getting on your nerves," Fred said, with his sleeves rolled up and frying some eggs. "I would say you’re getting on my nerves, but I’m happy to see you." I rolled my eyes. "I’m happy to see your ass too," he replied. "I hope I didn’t do anything crazy, though," I asked. "Let’s say history was about to repeat itself, but you made a good choice, so we had different results," Sebastian said. "I see," I said. Fred served us breakfast. "May, I hope you didn’t convince him to prepare breakfast." I asked, taking a bite of the fried eggs. "No, I didn't, Mr. Johnson, "she blushed. "Maybe they went to cloud nine last night," Charlotte said, taking a sip of her fruit juice and looking elsewhere. Sebastian choked on his drink. "Just shut up, b***h," May said, while Fred pretended he didn’t hear anything. "You guys really have a very interesting morning," Sebastian said after he recovered from his fits. "That’s just today, but there’ll be more interesting mornings in the near future," I said. "Thank you for staying," I thanked Sebastian as we prepared to leave the house. "Don’t mention it. I'm glad you have someone like Charlotte in your life," he said. "Treat her right and keep her safe," he continued. "I will," I said as I hugged him. Charlotte came around to say goodbye. "I look forward to seeing you often, Charlotte." He kissed the back of her hand. "It’ll be a pleasure seeing you too," she responded. During our car ride to the office, I didn’t let go of her hand. I don't know whether I’m being overprotective or scared. "What’s wrong, daddy? You seem worried." Her sweet voice pulled me out of my thoughts. "I’m fine, cupcake," I said. The truth is, I’m scared I might hurt her, even though it doesn’t look like something I'd be doing. "I won’t be home early today; I hope you don’t mind." I asked her as we got out of the car. "As long as you’re safe," she said. I kissed her on the forehead. "I’ll be safe, cupcake," I assured her. "Okay," she said, before giving me a side hug. Today is going to be another boring, eventless day with a twist. Charlotte The day went by like a breeze. I went straight to work after I got settled down. We had a lot to do, and Damian’s meeting will go on non-stop until late at night. I haven’t seen Damian since we arrived at the office. With his busy schedule, they wouldn’t have time for lunch. Should I get them lunch? There are about fifteen people in the conference room, Damian, Fred, and Sebastian inclusive. I placed an order for food for seventeen people. A few minutes later, May came up with the delivery guys. I knocked on the door and entered. All eyes are on me. I think this is a bad idea. Damian smirked as our eyes met. I motioned for the guys to come in. "I got food," I announced, because I didn’t know what else to say or what to expect. As I got closer to Damian, everyone stood up as he stood. "That’s so thoughtful of your cupcake," he said, placing a kiss on my forehead. He hugged me; his arms wrapped tightly around me. "Is everything alright? You look tired," I whispered. "I need you near me," he said, his face buried in my hair. "I’ll always be ready whenever you need me," I said. "Okay," he said, letting go of me. "I hope you get something for yourself as well." "Yeah, I got some for May and me," I replied. "Good." "I’ll leave you to enjoy your meal. I’ll be at my desk if you need anything," I said. He nodded. I returned to my desk to find May waiting for me. "Guess what?" she said. "I’m bad at guesses." "I nearly caused a scene with Blondie," she said. "What stopped you?" I laughed. I can’t imagine what happened during our absence. "I didn’t want to put marks on that not-so-sexy face we are managing; besides, Fynn and Sebastian took care of her," she said. "I see. I guess she might be Pamela," I said, taking the food out. "You guessed right, girl," she said. "Enough about unsexy Blondie and her dramas. Let’s focus more on positive energy and our Greek gods," she said, making me laugh. We enjoyed our meal with a little chitchat. We went back to work after our meal. I hope today ends well.
