The following morning I woke swiftly, the events of the previous night coming into sharp focus. My heart jolted painfully until I became aware that Lucas was still lying with me and my cheek was cool where it lay against his chest. Lucas drew his arms more tightly around me and I savored knowing that he"d slept beside me all night, albeit with a quilt between us. “Good morning,” he murmured against my hair, his voice deep in the early morning silence.
