Mates and love

1053 Words
“This is going to be your place.” Kirsty gasped at the sight of the one-story house made out of bricks and wood. The household of Chloe was not that far from the pack’s castle. It was just located after they went inside the forested area. Kirsty could still see the castle from where she was standing, and the household was just breathtakingly serene. “I-I can’t just accept this; this is too much.” She couldn’t just accept the house that Chloe was referring to her. When they arrived at the place, two men from which she could infer that their soldiers met them at the entrance. The two helped them get down the carriage and even if Kirsty didn’t want their help, the man who was assigned to her, persevered hence, she gave up and let the man help her down. She laughed at the idea that chivalry indeed is not yet dead. “Nothing is too much, Kirsty. Besides, the house has not been used since it was built, this was supposed to be given to my…Matilda.” Chloe ushered for her to follow as they went inside. She was in front of the house that was given to her as she would stay in their household temporarily. It was temporary for Kirsty because she was still planning for her escape which is not possible given the situation that she let herself in. The house was made of bricks and wood, and in front of it, is a mini garden of white tulips. She noticed that they were fond of white tulips. “I mean…I could live just-“ She was still thinking twice if she would accept the place where she would be staying, knowing that she was a slave of the pack but she got a house, a comfortable one to dwell on. “We already talked about it and Sam, my husband, don’t worry about him. We will talk when he gets back from the castle.” What the woman said caught her attention. She had no idea what was in the mind of the beta as his wife offered her a house to stay in. She didn’t want to be the reason why the couple would fight because of her existence in their household, knowing that Sam knew her as a rogue, and they couldn’t just trust her easily. She too doesn’t fully trust him, and even Chloe, but she learned to let the woman go beyond the boundaries that she set for herself. “I really don’t have problems if I would stay in the slaves and servants’ quarter.” She couldn’t just accept what was given to her, she felt like she doesn’t deserve this treatment from Chloe. “I would feel bad if you decline my offer, Kirsty.” She felt the genuineness in the woman’s voice. And how she expressed it. “I…don’t know what to say, but I am thankful for your generosity…” And so, she wholeheartedly thanked the woman for the house. She couldn’t just believe that she landed in this pack and met these people like Chloe who has a kind heart and a good soul for a slave like her. But it is still bothering her when the time comes that the woman would know that she was indeed a rogue, and is more likely deceiving her as a member of the pack, for her own protection. “Oh, it’s okay. Do you want to come inside and check the place?” Chloe walked towards the entrance door and check for the door keys that she put under the flowerpot just beside the door. Kirsty simultaneously nodded and smiled at the offer. “Wow…” She whispered, as the woman squeezed the doorknob and opened the entrance door, it revealed what was inside the house. “I know, the inside looks amazing even if this has not been used since the time it was built. Come here!” Chloe walked towards the fully furnished furnace made from bricks and there were piles of wood on the side of it. It was evident that the furnace was not used since it had no ashes and even traces of burning in it, it was so clean except for the cobwebs and specks of dust in it. The daylight helped her check the details of the wall and some furniture that was put in place. “I’ve never been to this type of house before…” She whispered but the quiet place made Chloe hear what she said, resulting in the woman asking her something that she did not expect to be asked. It was so sudden that upon hearing it, Kirsty froze in her place and with wide eyes, looked into the woman who was with her in the house. “Have you mated already?” “Ma-mated?” “Yeah? Don’t tell me that you are not the right age errr, or have you not seen him?” Curiosity was visible in the woman’s eyes. “I…I don’t know how we consider someone as our mate…to be honest.” Kirsty used the chance to sit on the wooden chair in front of the cold furnace and think deeply about the question that was thrown at her. “You don’t really consider it; you just feel it the moment you are with them and when you saw your mate’s eyes…and they show love and affection.” She grinned upon remembering the time when she turned eighteen and it was the same time when her friends and colleagues gathered in their place for a celebration that her family hosted. Kirsty knew that she had already met the person that the woman was describing that she met her own mate, but one thing that has been bothering her is the fact that her mate might not recognize her because of how the man responded to her. “Can I ask you about something?” She decided to stand from the comfort of her seat and lit up the cold furnace that had not been used before. “Go on, about what?” The woman was interested. “About our mates.” “Ohhh, go on, Kirsty. You know that I enjoy talking about mates and loves.” The woman giggled.
