The return

“Alpha…silver. The heart was pierced using silver.” "Silver," Draken muttered under his breath. Silence enveloped the room once again, as each member of the pack reflected on the implications of this revelation. They knew that their vulnerabilities were exposed, that their lives and the harmony they had built were at stake. The memory of the past atrocities committed by the Wolfsbane haunted them, reminding them of the relentless pursuit and the devastating losses they had suffered. Draken's cold demeanor belied the turmoil within. As the pack's leader, it was his responsibility to protect his kin and ensure their survival. The weight of that responsibility rested heavily on his broad shoulders. With determination burning in his eyes, he knew that they couldn't afford to be complacent or allow history to repeat itself. "Has there been any sign of unrest among neighboring packs or rival factions?" Draken asked, his voice tinged with suspicion. The man shook his head. "No, Alpha. We've been monitoring the situation closely, and there haven't been any reports of conflict or aggression from other packs. Draken leaned forward, his voice filled with a mix of curiosity and concern. "Go on. What else did you find?" The atmosphere in the room grew heavier as Draken's piercing gaze fell upon the man who had spoken those words. “There was no other evidence present in the place. Aside from the thing that was used to kill the soldier.” The man looked in Draken’s direction as if it was asking for his approval to divulge the next information he had at hand. Draken's expression remained stoic as he considered the possibilities. His mind raced through various scenarios, attempting to connect the dots. It was clear that this was not a random act of violence but a deliberate strike against the pack. The man took a deep breath, his eyes darting nervously around the room before settling back on Draken. Draken nodded in agreement. “What was it? I swear to the moon goddess that I didn’t know anything about the killing of my soldier, Alpha…” Alejandro couldn’t help but tried to save his name. It was a truth. He only knew that Romeo was killed but not any related information as to how it was done. “A bow and arrow were used. And the arrow was made of pure silver.” “And that means?” The room fell silent as the informant's words echoed in the air. The significance of a silver arrow piercing a soldier's heart hung heavily in the atmosphere, capturing the attention of everyone present, including Draken. “The arrow…the silver arrow pierced to the heart of the soldier while was riding on his horse, on his way to go back to the pack, based on the direction that he took.” The man was still not finished with what he was about to say. Draken noticed the horror on his men’s faces. For the past years, the pack has been so silent, and no brutalities occurred that include a member of the pack. The pack was so serene and is protected with utmost care under the hands of Draken, and this series of attacks happened just recently. And he knew that Wolfsbane are behind this starting from the time he was almost poisoned by the woman that Sam bought for him. The tension in the room mounted, each pack member now acutely aware of the imminent threat they faced. The murder of Romeo wasn't an isolated incident; it was an affront to their entire pack, a challenge that demanded a swift and decisive response. “It was like the soldier was hit by a skilled hunter. And the silver arrow which was stuck in his heart has a mark…from the Wolfsbane.” The man’s lips trembled as he reminisced the details of the mark that the pack forget eight years ago. The room was filled with whispers and suffocating tension was present, causing the atmosphere inside to thicken. The rain on the outside continued to pour down really hard and it was now accompanied by a series of roars of thunders. It was still early in the morning, but the sky was not either on their side. “That’s impossible!” An old man stood from his seat in the farthest back of the room. "But how is this possible?" another pack member interjected, voicing the doubt that lingered in everyone's minds. "We saw the last of them eight years ago. We thought they were gone for good." “They vanished eight years ago by the old Alpha!” The man referred to Draken’s father. Who sacrificed his life for the benefit of the pack. Sam's heart raced with worry as the conversation about the mark belonging to the Wolfsbane unfolded before him. Thoughts of his mate, Chloe, consumed his mind, driving him to speak up and seek answers. His typically quiet demeanor gave way to a sense of urgency and determination. Sam's desire to leave the room and check on Chloe consumed him, making it difficult to remain calm. He was torn between staying to gather more information and rushing to ensure Chloe's safety. His instinctive need to protect her overrode any rational thinking, prompting him to interject into the ongoing conversation. "Are you sure that mark belongs to the Wolfsbane?" Sam's voice trembled with a mix of anxiety and determination. His question hung in the air, a plea for confirmation and validation of his hopes. The room fell into silence as Sam's question lingered, anticipation mounting. It was as if time had momentarily frozen, emphasizing the gravity of the situation. The weight of their collective apprehension filled the air, thickening it with tension. “We brought the arrow.” The other man answered Sam. Others gasped and others were spitting curses when they heard what the man said. Even Draken personally experienced the attack of the enemy. “I can’t…believe this…” As Alejandro's tears streamed down his face, his emotions ran deep, mingling with his profound worry for the well-being of his two daughters. The weight of the situation pressed upon him, causing his voice to tremble as he struggled to come to terms with the reality that he would soon be exiled from the pack, a fate dictated by their strict rules. In this moment of vulnerability, Alejandro cast aside any concerns about how others might perceive his tears. The idea of weakness held no significance for him anymore, for the safety and security of his daughters took precedence over societal expectations or personal pride. He recognized the importance of embracing his emotions fully, allowing them to manifest as tears, as he confronted the daunting prospect of leaving his family behind. Draken stood before the men, their words echoing in his mind. "With the Alpha's permission, we will show you the arrow." The phrase struck a chord within him, stirring up a mixture of curiosity, apprehension, and an undeniable tug of sorrow. The mention of the enemy's mark, forgotten for eight long years, brought forth a flood of memories that had been buried deep within his heart. As he pondered the proposition, Draken's thoughts journeyed back to a time when darkness had enveloped his world. It was a time of conflict and chaos, a period when he fought alongside his comrades against a formidable adversary. The enemy had left an indelible mark on their lives, one that Draken and his allies had fought relentlessly to eradicate. But now, standing in the present, the memories resurfaced with an unexpected intensity. He could vividly recall the pain, the losses, and the sacrifices endured during that bitter struggle. It was a part of his past that he had tried to move on from, to heal the wounds and rebuild his life. Yet, here was an opportunity to confront those memories head-on, to delve into the depths of his emotions and face the mark of the enemy once more. “Show us.” Draken prepared himself for the mark. His heart was beating so fast, yet he made sure he was in control of his emotions. The moment the man brought the black cotton and unwrapped the thing that was used to kill the member of the pack, everyone felt terrified about the sight of it. The dried blood of the slain was visible on the silver arrow. Everyone’s eyes were fixated on the engraved mark of the enemy, Wolfsbane. The man immediately wrapped again the thing. And securely put it back inside the bag. Draken stood there, frozen in time, as the weight of the situation crashed down upon him. The return of the pack's most brutal enemy filled his mind with a whirlwind of emotions and memories that he had long tried to bury. The arrow, symbolic of impending danger, pierced through his thoughts, triggering a flood of painful recollections from his past. However, amidst the turmoil in his mind, a glimmer of determination began to emerge. Draken knew that he could not allow fear and doubt to consume him, nor could he allow his pack to suffer the same fate they had endured before. He realized that the painful memories were not meant to paralyze him but to fuel his resolve and strengthen his resolve to protect those he cared for. With a renewed sense of purpose, Draken turned his focus towards formulating a plan. He knew that the enemy would exploit any weakness, strike at the heart of their pack, and tear them apart if given the chance. He needed to rally his pack mates, to remind them of their collective strength and the bonds that held them together. “They are back. The Wolfsbane are back.” Draken uttered. Even if it was not the first time that he knew about it, it still brought him unfavorable emotions. The return of the Wolfsbane was a dire threat to their existence, and it demanded swift action. He knew that time was of the essence, and the pack had to be prepared for the challenges ahead. As Draken uttered those words, a heavy silence fell upon the room. The news of the Wolfsbane's return sent shivers down the spines of those who heard it. The mere mention of the Wolfsbane conjured images of destruction, chaos, and a relentless pursuit of power. “What are we going to do now, Alpha?” Sam's gaze locked with Draken's, a mixture of worry and anticipation evident in his eyes. They had just concluded a crucial meeting with the rest of the pack, discussing the challenging situation they found themselves in. The air was thick with tension, and Sam couldn't help but feel a sense of unease, wondering what steps lay ahead for their pack. As the others dispersed, Draken motioned for Sam to remain behind, signaling the importance of their impending conversation. The reaction of the men as they left the room highlighted the weight of the news they had received. The return of the Wolfsbane, the pack's greatest enemy, had likely instilled a sense of foreboding and apprehension among the members. The fact that they were processing the news individually signified the gravity of the situation and the need for everyone to prepare themselves mentally for what lay ahead. “For now, we will bring the arrow to the witch. And as the leader of your households, do not yet inform your members about the return of the Wolfsbane. Let it stay with you and be vigilant in your place.” Draken was planning for something. “For now, you can go back to your households, and Alejandro and Sam, stay as we will have to talk.” The men stood immediately from their seats and simultaneously went outside the room. They were all processing the news that was broken to them, that the greatest enemy of the pack had returned. Draken's mind buzzed with thoughts and strategies. He knew the road ahead would be treacherous, but failure was not an option. The safety of his pack and the preservation of their way of life depended on his ability to uncover the truth and protect them from further harm.
