The luna

Draken had been harboring growing suspicions about Alejandro, a member of the pack whose actions and tactics seemed underhanded and deceitful. The alpha had been contemplating the idea of removing him from the pack, but he knew it wouldn't be a simple task. Alejandro was cunning and had managed to evade consequences thus far. However, when news reached Draken that a member of Alejandro's household had been killed and that it was the mate of Alejandro's daughter, his suspicions deepened. The circumstances surrounding the killing suggested a premeditated plot, a sinister act meant to cause harm and ignite conflict within the pack. Draken couldn't ignore the possibility that Alejandro might have been involved. The old man was set to leave the pack on the same day and be exiled to another country. The old man was still a member of the pack, but he no longer holds the duties that were vested upon him. He was considered to be just a member of the pack with no entitlement. Draken personally went to pay a visit to the old man’s daughters who would be suffering because of his departure, but it was for their own benefit that their father could no longer exploit them, especially since the older daughter is about to give birth. He learned that the slain soldier did not know that his mate was pregnant by her own father and was purposely sent during the night so that the said man won’t know anything that the old man’s daughter was in pain due to pregnancy. It was to Draken’s advantage that what the man committed during the sending of the soldier for the trade was against the pack’s rules and it corresponds to an exile, something that he had been anticipating happening for quite some time. He never likes the cockiness of the old man. "At last, he's leaving," Sam blurted out with a hint of relief in his voice. The departure of the old man seemed to have eased some tension in the hall, allowing the two of them to engage in a more private conversation. Sensing the need for discretion, they decided to make their way to the Alpha's study, a space where important matters could be discussed away from prying ears. As they entered the study, Draken closed the door behind them, ensuring their conversation would remain confined within the walls of the room. The Alpha's study provided a sense of sanctuary, a place where they could freely exchange ideas and strategize without the fear of being overheard. "His fault. But the old man deserves to leave the pack," Draken responded, his tone carrying a mix of disappointment and determination. The actions of the departing individual had evidently caused some strife within the pack, leading to their eventual decision to part ways. While it was not an easy choice, they believed it was necessary for the greater good and the stability of the pack as a whole. Sam, settling comfortably on a cushioned seat, raised an eyebrow inquisitively. "Is he leaving tonight?" he asked, curious about the timing of the old man's departure. The urgency of the situation and the presence of Wolfsbane, their longstanding enemies, might have accelerated the need for action. Draken, his gaze focused and contemplative, paused for a moment before responding. "I was planning on that," he admitted, reaching into his drawer and retrieving a bottle of red wine along with two wine glasses. Pouring the crimson liquid into the glasses, he symbolically prepared for the weighty discussion ahead. "We should no longer be complacent about our safety, knowing that the Wolfsbane are back," Draken continued, his voice tinged with a sense of caution and determination. The return of their adversaries meant that their vigilance had to be heightened, their defenses reinforced, and their plans solidified. The safety and well-being of the pack rested upon their ability to navigate this precarious situation with intelligence and resilience. Draken found himself sitting in his study, a dimly lit room that provided a sanctuary from the chaos of the day. The events at the ranch replayed in his mind, refusing to be cast aside. The image of the woman he had encountered lingered, her captivating presence leaving an indelible mark on his thoughts. He closed his eyes, attempting to shake off the memories that seemed to hold him captive. The scent of her still wafted through the air, an intoxicating fragrance that awakened his senses. It was unlike anything he had ever experienced before. The allure of her chocolate eyes had ensnared him, drawing him in with their depth and mystery. In that fleeting moment, he had been lost, captivated by the enchantment they held. But reality swiftly pulled him back from the depths of his musings. The word "mate" echoed in his mind, jolting him back to the present. The realization that the moon goddess had bestowed upon him a mate—a woman who appeared to be of a lower rank than him—confounded his expectations. Draken had grown up with certain assumptions, and ingrained beliefs about the hierarchies and expectations within their society. He had never anticipated that fate would introduce him to someone who defied those preconceived notions. He had no problems with it, but he wanted to make that he was not deceived by what he had felt inside. So, with a sense of urgency and curiosity, Draken had sought Sam's company, eager to explore the subject of mates and seek his friend's opinions and insights. He wanted to understand the intricacies of the mate bond, to unravel the mysteries and emotions that came with it. It was important for Draken to ensure that he wasn't being deceived by his own desires or misunderstanding the signals he felt within his heart. "So, it must be done during the daytime, it’s still noon time," Sam remarked, crossing his arms and observing the Alpha, who appeared deep in thought. He knew there was a weighty matter at hand, something that required their full attention. The Alpha, holding a cherished bottle of aged wine, served it to Sam. The exchange of glances between the two conveyed a sense of understanding and camaraderie as if they were old friends sharing a significant moment. "In the afternoon, before the sun sets in the west, he will leave," the Alpha responded, his voice tinged with determination. It was evident that a decision had been made, and there was no room for negotiation. This was the opportune moment they had been waiting for. Sam took a moment to absorb the Alpha's words. The plan was straightforward—seize the opportunity when their target was vulnerable and separate him from the pack. It was a strategic move that required precision and coordination. The stakes were high, and there was no room for error. With a casual air, Draken, the Alpha, took a seat across from Sam on the couch. He placed the wine bottle on the glass center table, an act that spoke of his focus and readiness to discuss the matter at hand. As he extended his hand to Sam, offering him a glass of wine, their connection deepened. The clink of the glasses echoed the unspoken bond between them. "Spit it out, Draken," Sam chuckled, taking a sip from his glass, mirroring the Alpha's directness and cutting through any unnecessary small talk. The Beta knew that Draken's words carried weight and importance. Draken didn't waste a moment. He didn't want to beat around the bush or engage in idle conversation. His mind was set on the revelation he had to share, a revelation that would undoubtedly reshape his life and the dynamics of the pack. "I think I found my mate," Draken stated boldly, his words hanging in the air. It was a declaration that held immense significance, not just for the Alpha himself, but for the entire pack. The impact of finding a mate was profound, as it signaled a bond that would shape their futures and intertwine their lives. Sam, caught off guard by the sudden revelation, nearly choked on his wine. The unexpected nature of Draken's announcement caught him by surprise, but he quickly composed himself, understanding the weight of the moment. Finding a mate was a rare and extraordinary occurrence, and it carried implications that would ripple through their entire pack. “The f**k, when?” Sam almost stood from his seat, but he managed to seat back. “Earlier, in the morning.” Draken leaned back in his chair, a thoughtful expression on his face. He knew that Sam was skilled at piecing together information, and he had to be careful not to reveal too much. There were secrets and uncertainties in his own heart that he was still grappling with, and he didn't want to expose himself to further vulnerability. He didn’t want to be deceived again, with the encounter that he had that almost killed him as the Wolfsbane were specifically plotting against his life. “Where?” "Not that important," Draken replied, his tone evasive yet not entirely dismissive. He didn't want to outright lie to Sam, but he also didn't want to disclose the details of his encounter with the woman just yet. It was a delicate dance between sharing and withholding information, a balance he had to strike to protect himself and the fragile bond that seemed to be rekindling. As he stared out of the open window, his gaze lost in the distance, Draken couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. The encounter with the woman had stirred something within him, awakening memories and desires he had thought were long buried. But he also carried the weight of past betrayal, the scars that served as a reminder of the dangers that lurked in the shadows. "Is that the same reason why you were soaked in the rain earlier?" Sam asked, a glimmer of amusement dancing in his eyes. Draken couldn't help but notice the mischievous tone in his voice, suggesting that he had a playful idea in mind. "Yeah," the Alpha responded curtly, giving away nothing more than a simple affirmation. “So, that means that you went to an open place. Hmmm, I am already thinking about something-“ "Cut it off, Sam." "What!" “f**k off, Sam, what do you feel when you found a mate?" Draken asked, his voice tinged with curiosity and perhaps a hint of nostalgia. He was genuinely interested in hearing Sam's perspective, eager to gain insights into the experience of discovering one's destined partner. Sam chuckled, partly amused by Draken's question and partly lost in the memories that flooded his mind. He had always been a man of few words, especially when it came to matters of the heart. Nevertheless, he understood the significance of the question and tried to articulate his feelings as best he could. "You've got to be kidding me," Sam burst into laughter, his voice filled with disbelief. The idea seemed absurd to him. "Just answer it," Draken urged, his tone indicating that he was genuinely interested in Sam's response. Sam composed himself and leaned back, contemplating the question. "You just feel it," he finally said, his voice carrying a hint of nostalgia. He remembered the day he discovered that Chloe was his mate, a memory etched deeply into his heart. He recalled how they had been inseparable for years, their bond forged through friendship and camaraderie. They were like siblings, sharing laughter, secrets, and even occasional disagreements. Never in their wildest dreams had they imagined that their relationship would take such a transformative turn. "To be more specific," Draken urged, his curiosity evident. Sam took a sip from his wineglass, savoring the rich flavor before continuing. "When she's around, there's a distinct aroma in the air," he explained, his voice laced with affection. "It's the sweetest and most intoxicating smell you've ever encountered, like the essence of blooming flowers and warm summer nights. It's impossible to mistake it for anything else, well not the one that almost killed you.” His beta raised his eyebrows and grinned about it. “No, they’re different.” “The f**k, Draken. Let me meet the Luna now so that we could change some of this pack’s f*****g rules that don’t align with our principles.” Draken sat in his study, his thoughts consumed by the revelation of Luna's presence in the pack. The anticipation and longing for her arrival had stretched on for what felt like an eternity. It was as if the entire pack held their collective breath, waiting for the fated Luna to make her appearance. And now, with her existence confirmed by Draken himself, there was a mix of relief and uncertainty within him. “Continue.” Draken interrupted him.
