“When did it happen Alpha?” Someone questioned Draken.
Draken’s gaze was fixated on the closed doors. He knew that someone from the pack is eavesdropping the whole time they are having their scheduled meeting, and this someone is unnoticeable to everybody. It might use some herbs and potions or help from witches so that this someone won’t get noticed. That is what Draken thought about. Another thing is someone from the men inside the hall is plotting against him. And that is something that he had been working on upon knowing that this existed. He knows that they’re among the most powerful packs in the country and plotting against him and the pack is normal especially now that the Wolfsbane is back. The Alpha has not told anyone yet about the existence of this person inside the pack, and even Sam, his beta, and Adolfo, his omega, didn’t know anything about it.
“Yesterday, when they were about to purchase a supply of meat in the city.” Draken wanted to see any suspicious looks from his men, especially at Alejandro who has been silent since his arrival. The one who was killed is in Alejandro’s household and the man didn’t do anything to compensate for the loss of the man and how it would affect the man’s family especially since the killed one belongs to lowly.
“Who was killed? Is he under any household of the pack?” Someone asked.
“Robert.” Draken shortly answered. He wanted Alejandro to speak up right after mentioning the dead’s name.
A moment of silence engulfed the entire hall as some were looking in Alejandro’s direction who was busy with his food. He hadn’t finished yet. When the old man felt that the attention was on him, he immediately looked in the Alpha’s direction who was giving him his cold stare.
“I…uhm, Robert is under my household.” Alejandro was stuttering as he answered the questioning looks of the people inside the hall.
“Then what happened? Did you check the corpse of your man?” Another man asked Alejandro.
Sam was quiet the whole time as he was observing what was happening inside. Draken was observing each one’s actions inside the hall. Apart from wanting to know who’s plotting against him, he wanted to see if anyone is not moved by the news that he broke to them. He was waiting for someone to ask him if they have any leads as to the killer.
“I…I didn’t check the corpse-“
“Why?! He was under your household, Alejandro! It is your responsibility to-“
“Let me finish with my talk, Oliver!” Alejandro stood from his seat.
The two men were at the peak of their emotions as Draken could see that Oliver was concerned about the situation. Oliver is under Draken. He lives in the castle.
“For the information of everyone, I didn’t personally check the corpse, Alpha.” He said as he lowered his gaze to the Alpha.
Draken was scrutinizing his every action and the emotion that the man was showing him.
“Then who did it?” Oliver asked him again.
“I was informed of the killing just right after someone and his men went personally to the area where the killing happened. And I…I couldn’t do anything about it.” Alejandro already prospected who went to the place, but he was consumed with shame as he wasn’t able to do his duty to his household and to the pack.
“Then who might it be?”
Sam also wondered about it. He only knew about the killing just this morning. And only the Alpha has informed him about it. Sam looked in the Alpha’s direction and was entertained by the commotion that is starting to escalate inside the place. Sam, therefore, concluded who the person is and smirked about it.
“I went to the place.” Draken stood from his seat.
The whispers and heated gaze toward Alejandro were replaced by a deafening silence when they heard where the voice came from.
“Alpha!”
“Gentlemen, take your seat.” Draken could feel that there is an entity outside the hall. He felt this again, and this time, the said energy is so near the back door where he entered. He just wondered why the soldiers didn’t feel the presence of someone outside the hall. Even his men were inside. They were gifted with instincts by the moon goddess, but it was like he was the only one who felt the presence of the entity.
Draken didn’t want to scare off the entity outside. He put his hand inside the pocket of his pants and touched the thing that has been with him for eight years that saved his life, and slowly, he walked. He had no direction where to pass but he was determined to check and personally see the back door for the entity. No one knew and felt the presence of the entity, that is what he concluded.
“I was on my way to the city using one of the horses inside the ranch.” Draken started. He didn’t use the company of c***k as it was still under injury. Instead, he went to grab the black one, Sofie.
“c***k was injured, Alpha.” Sam answered him. The man knew that he only wants the company of c***k every time he went for a run.
“Yes, c***k was injured. But it was not about last night. I went for the black one.” Only Sam knew the presence of Sofie inside the castle.
It was visible in the eyes of Sam that he was surprised about it. Sofie is not theirs. It was a black horse that they saw eight years ago in the forest. In the same forest, the attack of the rogues happened to Sam. They knew from then that the horse belongs to a wealthy family and the name is Sofie. The name was engraved on the horse’s vest. The pack was under attack at that time and Sam saw the horse first and immediately used it to return to the castle as he accompanied his family’s escape that time. Since then, the horse was under the custody and care of Draken who felt a strong connection to the horse.
