The moment Draken mentioned that they should stop what they were doing, he felt that the woman stiffened. He was still holding her while her hands were on his hair. He didn't mean to feel her that way as they both know that they didn't want to end it. He wanted to make sure that no one would see them outside and he wanted to take her to a place where they can have their privacy. It’s not a matter of protecting his title as the Alpha of the pack since he can f**k whoever he wants to, but it’s about the welfare of Kirsty who served as the servant of the pack. He wanted to protect her from the eyes of the members of the pack, and he didn't care what they would say about him, it was all because of Kirsty’s situation the moment someone would see them. There is nothing wrong with what they were doing, but the woman is too vulnerable to bear the possible consequences of getting caught by others as rumors spread faster than the wind. And he was quite aware of women who go beyond the appropriate thing to do just for him to glance at them. He has plans in mind, and he wanted to make sure that everything goes well before letting the whole pack know who their Luna is. He didn't want this moment to come to an end, he has a place in mind, not in his castle, but just within the vicinity of the household of Sam.
“Let…let go of me. I have to go.” She was holding back her tears. She felt rejected and assumed things that just because of her status inside made the man stopped with what they were doing. In the first place, she was still contemplating giving in, but the moment she did, it was like she was drowning in a deep cold river and can’t swim back to land.
She immediately let go of his hair, and humiliation consumed her as she tried to avoid his gaze that for her, could see through inside her.
“Why?” Draken slowly put her down but made sure that she can't run away from him.
He wrapped his arms around her back, it was like engulfing her in a tight hug while they were standing behind the wall. It was dark outside, and only the torches on the side gave them light and the illumination of the stars in the clear sky.
She had no idea what to answer. She didn't want to let the man see that she was hurt by it. Even if she was not ready to meet him as his mate and he had no idea who he was, the fact that he initiated what they were doing earlier to stop made her heart sink.
He came closer to her and put his forehead on hers, and it made her close her eyes. Closing to stop the tears from falling down her face. The man tightly clasped her by his arms while her hands were on her side, not even touching him, afraid for the man to stop her from doing so. He did it once, and to her, he wouldn't think twice about doing it again.
“Kirsty?” Draken closed his eyes as he let the name of his mate roll down his tongue. He felt that the woman didn't touch him, and she was still stiffened.
She didn't make a move. A part of her was happy as the name remembered her name so well, but it was an irony to her that she didn't even know who he was, even a name.
She remained silent. And it was enough for her to open her eyes the moment she felt the soft touch of the man’s lips on hers again. It was a soft kiss, a kiss that does not signify lust, that kind of kiss that made someone just go home and stayed with the person they called home and a safe haven in this chaotic world that they were living in. She felt safe with his presence and she wanted to pinch herself for feeling it as it was all clear to her that he was the one who stopped everything earlier and it brought her back to reality, a reality of who really is.
“I’m sorry.” He uttered and kissed her forehead.
The gesture made her heart soften and all she ever wanted was to throw herself at him. Behind the strong stance that he is showing, lies the softness that he has for the woman.
“I…I really have to go…” She wanted to call him by his name but she had no idea what it was. It was like the man sensed her inner struggle and gave her his smile. And to Draken, it was so seldom for him to even act in this way, but this all makes a difference as the woman is not just an ordinary person and a servant serving the pack, but she was his Luna, his other half, the one destined for him, and he wouldn't let go of her now that their paths have crossed again.
“It’s Draken. Draken Stefan.” He said while he search for her deep chocolate eyes.
Her heart skipped a beat the moment she heard his name. But the moment she remembered the order given to her by Leo, the man who led the people in the kitchen, she was brought back to reality once again.
“I…I need to throw this away…”
“Leave it here. I will take care of everything.”
“No…I am working for the pack.” Worried was visible in her eyes.
Something was urging him to just let her know who he is, but she didn't want to scare her off, knowing what his reputation is, as known by many. But only a few know who he really is. He wanted his woman to know him beyond the titles that he have, and to also understand the fact that he wanted her not only because he wanted to change some of the established rules of the pack the moment they are mated and married, but to be with her because of her presence.
He didn't want to deceive her either.
“Let me handle everything.” He said.
