Pulling him closer

“A pleasant evening, Alpha.” As Draken entered the room, he was greeted by Alejandro's eldest daughter, the woman with whom the old man had fathered a child. The formal greeting conveyed a sense of respect, acknowledging Draken's position as the Alpha of the pack. Draken offered a curt nod in response, his eyes subtly scanning the woman's form. He noticed that her pregnancy was not outwardly apparent, concealed by the careful choice of her attire. It became evident to him that she had intentionally chosen to keep her pregnancy a secret, likely due to the challenging circumstances surrounding her mate's departure and her father's impending exile from the pack. He wanted to make sure that the status of the old man’s two daughters was in good hands. Draken felt a surge of responsibility towards the young woman and her unborn child. He knew that she would soon be approaching her due date, a pivotal and delicate time for any expectant mother. The weight of her circumstances—her mate's absence and the impending exile of her father—meant that she faced the challenges of pregnancy and impending motherhood with limited familial support. With only her younger sister remaining as family, the burden on her shoulders was undoubtedly significant. The family’s servants were in their places to do what they were mandated to do, while the pregnant woman was the one leading the way for him to settle down on the couch. “This way, please.” She slowly walked while holding her stomach for support. The house has been so quiet. He had no plans on staying for too long in the said place as he was planning to go directly into Sam’s household for dinner. His purpose in visiting was to check everything as their father left before he arrived at their household. “My visit won’t take too long.” He uttered as he was seated while looking at the woman who was carefully seated on the chair, opposite to him. The woman in front of him was agitated and he could smell it in the air that surrounded them. Everything Draken encounter or meet a member of the pack. Most of the time, they are nervous about his presence. Some avoided crossing paths with him, and some wouldn’t dare to be with him in the same room, breathing the same air. He noticed that the woman continued to touch the hem of her shirt, as she was wearing a pair of loose pants and a shirt, while she tried to avoid his stare. The younger daughter was not present in the house, and he assumed that all of them were present as he wanted to check if Alejandro hadn’t brought any of his daughters to him. “Please accept my apology, A-Alpha, as everything inside is a mess.” The woman said while she roamed her gaze around the room that they were in and cried softly. And it was a mess indeed. Flower vases lay shattered on the floor, their delicate fragments scattered haphazardly. The disarray of the room caught Draken's attention, momentarily diverting his focus from the woman standing before him. He had initially dismissed the untidiness, prepared to disregard it as a trivial matter. However, it was the glistening droplets of blood staining the floor that seized his gaze, instantly shifting his perception of the situation. He was about to brush away the idea of how messy the place was but droplets of blood on the floor caught his attention, and it was at the same time Draken noticed the blood on the woman’s wrist and hand that she tried to distract as she was holding the hem of her shirt. The wall had some droplets of blood, and it came from someone who’s of that kind of them. "How many are you?" His words hung in the air, penetrating the woman's surprised expression. He knew, deep down, that there were only two females residing in this abode, the woman before him and her younger sister. The woman was surprised at what he asked about. Draken knew that there were only two of them, all females. The woman hesitated, her voice quivering with a mixture of fear and uncertainty. "I...I have a younger sister, Alpha," she finally stammered, her admission betraying a sense of vulnerability. Draken's piercing gaze never wavered, his eyes locked onto her face, searching for any signs of deception. He understood the gravity of the situation, aware that their safety and the truth depended on her forthcoming response. He noticed that some of the household servants were waiting on the corner for the possible orders to be given to them. “How many?” He repeated. The woman did not answer what he asked of her. The woman, sensing the gravity of Draken's determination, struggled with her response. Her lips parted, but the words eluded her as if grappling with the internal conflict of loyalty and self-preservation. Finally, she mustered the courage to speak. "There were only the two of us, Alpha," she replied, her voice laden with a mix of apprehension and the barest hint of desperation. “Where is your sister?” He looked intently into the woman’s face. She was avoiding his gaze and Draken could also feel that something was going on in the household. Draken's sharp gaze swept over the woman's face, searching for any telltale signs that might reveal the truth. He sensed an air of tension in the household, palpable through the guarded behavior of the servants and their avoidance of his gaze. It was evident that something was amiss, and the woman's silence only fueled his curiosity and concern. Instead of answering what Draken asked of her, the woman instead maintains her silence. “Alpha?” “I shall not repeat what I asked.” Draken, sensing that something urgent was transpiring within the pack, demanded a response from the woman. His tone carried a firmness and urgency that mirrored the gravity of the situation. It was clear that he required immediate information, and he would not tolerate any delay or evasion. “S-she was inside her room.” The woman touched her bulging stomach as she felt a strong contraction inside. She was weak, and the woman couldn’t protect her own and the child inside her stomach. “Let me see her.” The mess inside was connected to the woman’s younger sibling or it could be to the woman’s father who left the household. His father would not be given a chance to visit the pack, however, Alejandro’s daughters are allowed to visit him at the place where he is staying in the presence of some of the pack’s members to ensure that nothing would happen during such a visit. "Alpha...there's a problem," the woman's trembling voice pierced the air, reaching Draken's ears as he stepped into the house. The weight of her distress hung heavily in the atmosphere, instantly alerting Draken to the gravity of the situation. A sense of foreboding settled over him, knowing that something had gone terribly wrong. He knew there was a problem. The woman could no longer hold the moment of her silence and told the Alpha about the mess of the house. He doesn’t like to see women crying, and it was what the woman is doing while she was stating what happened during the day. “When father left around in the afternoon, he…he wanted to take me with him- but Sinoa was with me…Sinoa is my younger sister. No one in the house helped us as they were afraid of my father…and Sinoa…stood for me.” The woman stopped and closed her eyes as she tried to remember every single detail of what happened. He knew that Alejandro would do such a thing, knowing that he had exploited his older daughter, and the child in the womb is his, and the old man was obsessed with the daughter as she looked exactly like the late wife of Alejandro. As the woman recounted the harrowing events, her voice trembled with sorrow and anguish. Tears streamed down her face, and her words were punctuated by sobs, revealing the deep pain she carried within her. "Sinoa stopped him from grabbing me...and Father let loose of me," she managed to explain amidst her tears, recounting a moment of respite from the chaos. But even in that fleeting moment, tragedy struck. Her father, driven by his own rage and desperation, saw an opportunity to retrieve a hidden dagger from one of the cabinets in their surroundings. In a cruel twist of fate, he turned the blade upon Sinoa, her beloved sister. “The blood here…this is Sinoa’s cut, my poor sister. Ah-ah!” Before any further words could be exchanged, an older female servant approached their location, her presence reflecting deference and respect towards Draken, as the Alpha of the pack. The servant's arrival interrupted the tense atmosphere, momentarily shifting the focus to the imminent arrival of new life. "My apologies, Alpha," the servant began, her voice carrying a mix of urgency and deference. "But she is about to give birth." Draken stood at a distance, his heart heavy with a mixture of awe and empathy as he witnessed the profound and transformative experience of childbirth. It was a moment he had never before encountered in his life, and the intensity of the pain that the mother endured was almost palpable in the air. The sound of her cries filled the room, resonating with a rawness that struck deep within Draken's being. Unable to bear the weight of the woman's agony, Draken felt a surge of emotions wash over him. He understood the magnitude of the physical and emotional strain that childbirth placed on a mother, and he couldn't help but empathize with her suffering. The responsibility of leading his pack, ensuring their well-being, and perpetuating the legacy of their lineage weighed heavily on his shoulders. Reacting swiftly to the situation, Draken called upon the man who had led him to the location, entrusting him with the task of providing any assistance and support that Alejandro's daughter and her child required. The well-being of the newly born held paramount importance to Draken, and he was determined to ensure that all necessary resources and care were made available. As Draken's eyes glowed with anger, his voice carried a commanding tone that brooked no disobedience. The weight of his words settled heavily upon the pack members who stood before him, their gazes fixed upon their formidable Alpha. "Ask everything from the pack. And make sure to clean the wounds of Alejandro's daughters," Draken commanded, his voice resonating with authority. The weight of his words hung heavily in the air, signaling a shift in the dynamics of the pack. The mention of Alejandro, a name that carried significance within the pack, stirred a potent mixture of emotions within Draken. It was evident that Alejandro had committed a grave transgression, one that demanded swift action and retribution. The anger etched on Draken's face painted a vivid picture of his determination to hold Alejandro accountable for his actions. The mention of Alejandro's daughters, wounded and in need of care, underscored the Alpha's sense of duty and compassion. Despite his anger, he understood that the innocent should not suffer the consequences of their father's misdeeds. The welfare and well-being of the pack's members, especially the young and vulnerable, remained a priority for him. "Ensure that the delivery of a new member of the pack is safe," Draken added. Draken's words hung in the air, their weight carrying a sense of both urgency and responsibility. The task he had just assigned was no ordinary one—it was to ensure the safe delivery of a new member of the pack. As the leader of the pack, Draken understood the significance of each new life that graced their ranks, symbolizing growth, continuity, and the perpetuation of their legacy. "Y-yes, Alpha." The woman bowed down. Some of the servants went to gather and helped them carry the daughter of Alejandro, who was about to give birth in not any longer.
