Arabella stormed into Alexander’s office, her pulse still hammering from her confrontation with Evelyn. She slammed the door shut, making Alexander look up from his desk. His sharp eyes scanned her, immediately picking up on her anger. “What happened?” he asked, setting his pen down. Arabella took a deep breath, forcing herself to steady her voice. “I just ran into Evelyn.” Alexander’s expression darkened. “And?” “She was here to remind me that my father isn’t going to stop,” she said, crossing her arms. “She said I should surrender and go back to him before things get worse.” Alexander leaned back in his chair, his fingers tapping against the desk. “And do you believe her?” Arabella let out a humorless laugh. “Of course not. But I know she wasn’t just talking. She was warning me.”
