The CEO first love Chapter 12 — The Rescue Emily stepped backward as the strange man moved closer. “Who are you?” she asked again. The man didn't answer. He simply smiled. “You should have stayed away from Adrian.” Emily's heart raced. “What do you want?” “Nothing from you.” He took another step. “I only want you to stop asking questions.” Emily looked around the empty hallway. There was no one nearby. Suddenly, she heard footsteps coming from behind the man. The stranger turned. Adrian was standing at the end of the hallway. “Get away from her.” His voice was cold and dangerous. The man immediately ran toward the emergency exit. Adrian chased him, but the stranger disappeared before he could catch him. Adrian returned to Emily. “Are you hurt?” Emily shook her head. “No.” He looked at her carefully. “Are you sure?” “Yes.” Adrian pulled her into a brief hug. Emily froze. It was the first time he had ever held her. “You scared me,” he whispered. Emily's heart beat faster. “I thought you wouldn't come.” “I told you to leave.” “I couldn't.” Adrian stepped back. “Why?” “Because Lily is involved.” He looked at her silently. Emily handed him the note she had found. “I took this from Victoria's bag when she wasn't looking.” Adrian read it carefully. His expression changed. The note contained an address. “Where did you get this?” “Victoria dropped it when she left the hospital.” Adrian looked at the address. It was an old house outside the city. “We're going there.” Emily shook her head. “Together?” “Yes.” That evening, they arrived at the abandoned house. The door was unlocked. Adrian entered first. Emily followed closely behind. Inside, they found several old boxes. Adrian opened one. Photographs. Letters. Documents. Everything was connected to Lily. Then Emily found an old newspaper. She read the headline. Young Woman Missing After Mysterious Accident Her eyes widened. “Adrian…” He looked at the newspaper. The date was five years ago. At the bottom of the article was a photograph. It showed Lily. But there was something else. A second photograph showed another woman standing beside her. Emily stared at it. “That's Victoria.” Adrian nodded. Then Emily noticed a name written on the back. Daniel. Adrian's expression became serious. “Daniel wasn't working alone.” Suddenly, they heard a noise upstairs. Someone was inside the house. Adrian grabbed Emily's hand. “Stay behind me.” They slowly climbed the stairs. At the end of the hallway stood a woman. Emily stopped. Adrian's eyes widened. “Victoria…” Victoria looked at them with tears in her eyes. “I know everything.” She paused. “And I'm finally ready to tell you the truth.” But before she could continue, the lights suddenly went out. A loud crash came from downstairs. Someone had entered the house. And this time, they weren't there to talk.
