Things They Didn't Know

“There’s a witch in the inn!” Another resident shouted as they all panicked. All of the guards suddenly run towards the building. Abigail is panicking as her companions are confused. “Keeana, where have you lead us!?” Gallant said as he draws his sword. “I swear this is not Lesser Untamo! We are pretty far from that place. I swear, I didn’t lead us to danger.” Winsel rolls his eyes, “You just did Keeana, there’s no denying it.” They all prepared their weapons. “I think we should not fight.” Abigail suggested that made them look at her with confusion. “If we don’t fight, we’re dead, especially you.” She shakes her head as she points at the door. There, the vines start to grow from the bottom of it and start crawling up. It locked the entrance for them. “We just need to get out of this place. We can’t hurt them.” “They will hurt you Crocus and you’re our only hope with all of this magical mess we are in!” She shakes her head once more. “Scatter around and find a place for us to get out of here. As much as possible we aren’t going to hurt anyone here. I’ll stay here to lock them in place.” Lavena holds her shoulders, “You can’t be alone! You’re their target. They wouldn’t mind us except you.” She sets aside her hands off her shoulder, “It’s fine. I have things to defend myself. Just go and find one!” They didn’t have a choice but to follow Abigail’s plan. They scattered around the inn and find ways to get out of this place, no matter how insane, silly, or impossible it is. Abigail minds her own business. She kept growing and growing flowering vines around the door. She even redirects her spell to the windows and shut them with the flowering vines. As the guards tried to break out, the flowers shoots some pollen on their faces, partially blinding them for some seconds. A lot of terrifying noises can be heard all throughout the building. The sound of guards trying to rummage through the windows, the screams of the people residing in the inn, and other things that have fallen to the ground. Abigail slowly backs up as she slowly watches the door being shattered into pieces. The sound of the guards hammering the door and trying to breach through hurts her ears. She kept growing layers and layers of the vines. Until she heard something running towards her. She turns around as she saw the guard charging at her with a spear. It was pointing at her, she won’t survive if she lets it happen. She swished her wand and points it at him. The petals on the flowering vines were plucked from their stem and suddenly flying through the air. It charges at the guard with full speed. As the petals reached him, he came flying across the room and even breaking things along the way. It was not the end of it as the guards in front successfully broke her defenses. They charged at them, tackling her with their heavy bodies. She fell to the ground, feeling the heavy load that’s pressing down her fragile body. She screams as the guards tried to lock her in place and pin her down. Abigail grips on her wand and suddenly an explosion happened from her. The guards went flying upward with the petals pushing them. It gave her time to recover and move before they fell on the ground. She finished them by shooting some of the petals she has still and knocking them unconscious as they hit a hard thing. The armor they have didn’t helped at all with the finishing blow that Abigail gave to them. She turns to the torn-up vines that used to block the entrance. She immediately regrows some of them and followed the others upstairs. There she encountered Edsel along the way. “There you are. Let’s go to the top rooms. There are some Dorma windows there that we can climb out of.” Abigail didn’t question things anymore as they rushed upstairs and to an empty room. She can see that Wren was constantly swishing through to avoid the arrows that are being shot at him. He was helping the others to get up the roofs. Her and Edsel’s turn came. “Ladies first.” He said as he pushes Abigail forward. “Reach my hand!” Wren shouted at her as she reached and grips on his hand. “Prepare for some intense jumping and gripping on these slippery shingle roofs.” He said as he escorted her to the peak of the roof of the Dorma window. “Go!” He said as Abigail looks at the roofs they need to jump onto. She gulps and took a deep breath. “Don’t let all of your parkour practice go to waste, Abigail. I hope these things are as slippery in the game.” She started to run to the almost flat top of the main roof and jumps towards the other one. The roofs in this town aren’t that much far away from each other. The only problem is how steep they are. But, she’s glad that the peak of the roofs is a bit flat to walk to. She can see the others going for it in the distance. Obviously, Keeana is absolutely nailing it. Some almost fell out of the roof. But, with some experience with all of this. There’s no problem at all, except for Abigail. Edsel even passed by her when she was trying to jump into someone’s window. Wren hovers over her and helps her sometimes. Everyone that tries to be a hero of the village followed them and even jump onto the roofs to gain an advantage. Every roof they can hop onto and just gain more distance away from these crazy people is something to be thankful for, especially for Abigail. It was going well until Abigail was interrupted by someone. She was held by the shoulder that almost got her slip to a steep roof. Behind her was someone much bigger than her. She turns around as she didn’t hesitate to point her wand at him. Before the man could even touch the wand and possibly break it, both of them were propelled through the air. A big wind explosion separated them two. The bulky man smashed himself to another roof, killing him and breaking some tiles of the roof in the process. Even not intended, Abigail flies through the air at a great height. Wren flew towards her to save her from falling from this tall height to the solid hard ground. With the strength he still has in his body, he glides towards the others where he puts Abigail in a safe place. Abigail leans on a wall and pants, “That explosion hurt badly.” She said as she rubs her arms which are completely red due to the impact as if she smacks it repeatedly with her hand. “Go, Abigail. We can’t just stop like this.” Wren said as he soars in the air once more. Abigail grips on her wand as she continues jumping roof to roof. With what she experienced this day, she thought of an idea that could damage these people’s houses. She swishes her wand and points it on the roof that she’s standing on. She propelled in the air again but with much control. Her other companions were shocked by this as she kept repeating. They're a little to no damage with the small number of explosions she’s making to propel herself. As they started to approach the gates, they gathered to the tallest tower where they fend off any person that’s still determined to catch them or Abigail. Lavena pants as she looks at the witch. “That other tower is too far to jump on. Wren is already tired of carrying us around. Could you make some vine ropes for us to slide into?” Abigail smiles, “Sure! That will be fun.” Abigail points her wand at the tip-top of the tower that they are in and the tower that’s on the gates. The others are still fending off their pursuers. The vines start to crawl to each other in the air to connect the two opposing sides of the vines. As they connect in the middle, Lavena tossed them some frayed curved things that she got from their pursuers. “Slide away!” She said as she hooks a metallic bow she got and starts sliding through the two ends. The others followed her with their things. Wren is on standby to help them all. Keeana was the last one to pass for her to shoot some people that tried that are feral enough to follow them to the tower. They jumped out of the walls with their own ways to lighten their fall. As they touched the ground, they went full speed to get away from this place. The ones who can attack at a distance keep fending off the people away from them. They ran and ran until they see no one running after them anymore nor the cursed city itself. They arrived in the plains where they collapsed on its grass. Their feet are totally sore and their bodies are completely tired. Heavy panting can be heard escaped their mouths as they catch their breath. “Is everyone okay?” Lavena asked them as she gestured to Edsel to give her some water from his water skin. They all nod and agreed that they are fine. The water skin was passed through everyone. Running away from the crazy people of whatever city was that dehydrated them and sucked all of their energy. “I am sorry,” Keeana murmured under her breath. Lavena looks at her, “Were you really sure that wasn’t Lesser Untamo?” The archer nods, “It wasn’t. It was Endale. These cities are miles away from each other. I am sure they aren’t anti-witch before. And, I am sure they wouldn’t react so feral like earlier.” Keeana gave her the map for reference. She was right, they aren’t in Lesser Untamo. “That’s strange. We were in Endale before and they were even pitiful of what’s happening in Lesser Untamo.” Winsel chugs a lot of water and gives it to his brother, “And, they will not exert that much effort to catch us. That’s just a bit too strange, don’t you think? Besides, if it wasn’t for that counter lady, we would’ve been okay. She made things worse.” “Don’t blame the old lady, Winsel. Of course, she will act like that. Although, she’s not in Lesser Untamo which is another topic.” Gallant said as he fixes himself, the white-haired man rolls his eyes, “Well, if she didn’t act like that. We could’ve enlightened these people that Crocus is not something to be feared about.” Lavena sighs, “We can’t even explain their behavior. A portion of the city went feral, everybody is trying to get us. They’re not even targeting Crocus alone, they are onto all of us. I have a lot of instances where I almost got captured. Their behavior is surprising. I really don’t believe this is Endale at all. As a city with one of the highly intelligent creatures, especially elves, it’s something really out of hand.” Keeana sighs, “I am sorry that I even offered you guys to stay in another city. If I didn’t, it could’ve not happened.” Lavena holds her shoulder and comforts her, “It’s not you. There’s just something happening within this world. It’s not something new to us. Although, we got a new problem, again.” “Should we avoid cities or towns for a while?” Wren asked as he fixes his wings. Lavena shrugs, “We don’t know the scope of this problem. Besides, this is still confusing us.” Keeana fixed her things as she noticed something on the map she have. She looks closer at it as she noticed that strips of it jitter around. “Guys…” She called them, “There’s something weird in the map.”
