Magical Discovery

“He needs something from me? What do you mean? I am just someone who woke up and suddenly, I am in this world. I am just someone who lives in my world, working away every day, and suddenly, I am here. If he needs something great from me, he’s mistaken.” She looks around the room, “If you are here and hearing me. I’ll say it again if you need something from me, I am not the right one. If you are waiting for the day I have something in me, that will be a long wait.” She looks back at Keeana, “Besides, what will he get from me? If he wants to get my powers, some sort of magic aura, mana, or everything in between, he should victimize the elder mages, wizards, witches, sorcerers, or anyone here that possesses greater magic than I have. It doesn’t mean that I am the ‘Floral Witch’, I already have every power and am even greater than everyone else. If I have, I am not using it properly and efficiently. He can just suck all of it with some sort of voodoo, dark magic spell he can use to me. I mean, he can use it better than me. Besides, the floral in the ‘Floral Witch’ seems just something for aesthetic, some sort of attention-grabber like, ‘Hey! I am special because I have floral in my name and I can do magical things with flowers. Woohoo!’ It doesn’t make any sense. Besides, if he lets me have all of this, I will be just one mediocre hero. The only thing special to me is I can do magic with flowers.” Keeana holds her shoulders and makes Abigail look at her eyes, “Crocus, you are not a mediocre hero and you will never be. And, there’s something magical and special about taking flowers in this world as an advantage for your magic. May it be spell-casting, potion-brewing, summoning things, or just any magical things in general. Flowers are known to be one of the magical things in this continent, especially in your area where there are tons and tons of flowers. They are as just magical as gems, runes, and artifacts. Being someone that can specialize flowers is a rare thing and the most magnificent blessing to be on.” She lets her go and goes on with her dramatic monologue in front of her. She started to gesture and move like she was staging a drama. “I know you are just new in this world and I understand that. So, I will explain that everything you said is wrong. Actually, the dark wizard has every right and reason to be jealous of you. Darkness and dark magic is the most common thing in this world to have a power of. Darkness and light are the common magic types. Next to them are the handling of elemental magic, especially for mages. Then, wizardry and witchcraft. And, the rarest of them all is any magical practitioners that specialize in things that cannot be controlled by anyone else. For example, the flowers of this world. The legends have said that every flower that grows in the land, water, or even the rarest ones, in the air have their own mind. They don’t grow for the residents of the earth that they share spaces with, they grow for themselves. They grow because they can. Just like gems and crystallized rock, they don’t form because we needed them, they form because they wanted to. These things are needed to be found, they cannot be made by us. Normal plants do that as well. They thrive not for us, but for their own kind. They even made a species work for them and entrusted them with their will. The flowers could be cultivated and they thank us for that. But, only a few people are able to demand and command them.” Keeana pulls her to make her stand, “Have you seen the flowering vines that you are able to grow in any place you can? These are your loyal subjects as if you are their queen. It’s hard to make something grow because you want it. But, you, you can just do anything with them. You can command them to attack or protect you. It’s the greatest thing you can have! Only a few are blessed with these powers. And, you should feel so blessed and thankful about it.” Abigail suddenly feels a big obligation was dropped on her back in the second that she knew her magic is something so rare. “I am okay with my magic being rare and all that. Although, it makes me a bit… anxious now when I think about it. The performance I execute almost mirrors the overall performance of people with flower specialty. Especially, I am the most famous one from them.” Keeana holds her hand, intertwining their fingers to calm her down. “You will do great, Crocus. You will. You already learned the basics. It’s not that too far-fetched that you will learn further and get better. Besides, just have fun with what ability you got. The first time I learned mine, I was so nervous about shooting arrows because I am a VERY clumsy person.” Keeana giggles, “But, now, I can hope on different trees without fear lingering in my mind and I am calm and collected when I fire my arrows.” She withdraws her hand and grabbed her bow and an arrow and shoots it at the corner of the room. “Just have fun and you will be sorted in no time! If you are having fun with what you intend to do in this world, everything will just cruise through. You will just realize that you are great at something.” The witch smiles, the confidence she got resurfaced and her determination to learn and get better became bigger. She realized that she doesn’t need to be that nervous about things. Just like what she’s saying at herself when she just started her career. She takes a deep breath and exhales the negativity out of her body. “Thank you for believing in me. I will try my best to be better at things. Although, I can’t promise you that I will not be pressured sometimes. Because who wouldn’t be? I am still new here and I already have someone I need to defeat sooner or later. I hate undetermined and uncertain events.” Keeana gives her a big hug, “Don’t worry. We’ll be here no matter where or when. I am always ready to shot some enemies whenever needed to!” She withdraws as she goes to the corner of the room where she shot an arrow at. She jumps rather tall, taller than Abigail expected, and grabbed the arrow. She inspects it, “This could be used in warning shots.” She puts it on her quiver, on a small divided part. She looks back at Abigail, “Pack up now and go to the dining room to have our last breakfast here in this inn.” The witch nods as Keeana goes out of her room and leaves her alone. Abigail prepared herself and did what Keeana instructed her. She went downstairs to meet the others who are already eating. She took a seat and served herself. After eating, they packed some foods to prepare for a long journey without hunting or stopping in another village just to eat. “Is everyone ready?” They all nod as Lavena looks at the three, “I hope you guys will find this place homely.” Peter smiles, “We already did. We already asked Mother Yvette that we will be her new residents. We just need to move out to the house that she showed us and find a job to pay for our stay here. Sieqa and Gyllnees are alright with that situation.” “At least, you guys are in a community that will appreciate who you are and what you can do!” Keeana claps as Estelle smiles, “I know, right? I hope our families and communities treated us like this.” Peter laughs, “Then, how could we meet each other and arrive in this wonderful and welcoming village? Sometimes, problems open opportunities and we just grabbed them.” Some of them laughed. “I hope you guys will have a good—well, the best adventure. Be safe in your travels.” Naval smiles shyly as they all bid their farewell to them and to the staff of the inn. Then, they head to the house of Mother Yvette which is a small quaint house at the other end of the village. “I see you are leaving. I hope you had a great time here, despite the incident that happened yesterday.” Lavena nods, “We did, Mother Yvette. Especially Crocus who just visited this place for the first time. If we have a choice, we will stay here with you and help you fend off the bandits and anyone that tries to harm you and your people.” The lady giggled, “You don’t have to, Lavena. We are a growing community and with that growth comes different unique residents with abilities that could help us thrive together. Besides, a lot of people here, especially teens and children alike, idolizes you and want to protect the village-like what you do with others. You don’t want their dreams to collapse, do you?” Lavena laughs along with the others who bothered to. “We are happy to hear that a lot of people are following what we intend to do and the desire to help people. We need more of them in this world.” The lady smiles, “Indeed, we do. Further-a-do, I think you need to head now to a new adventure that awaits you. May I ask, where are you exactly going?” Gallant looks at Abigail, “We are going to find Garett. We lost him and it became more important since Crocus here needs something to do with him, whatever it is.” Mother Yvette nods, “I understand. Finding a lost comrade is really crucial, albeit a difficult task to do. I hope that you know where you last see him.” Keeana inserts herself in the conversation, “We do, Mother Yvette. But, we don’t know if he’s still there. Since the last time we see him is kind of long until we realize that he’s not with us anymore. It’s kind of a stupid thing to say, but it’s our fault of not grouping ourselves that good.” “We are still mortals that create mistakes, so all we just need to do is to make up for it.” Edsel leans on the wall with his arms crossed. “There, there. I hope you have a safe adventure. Take risks when needed not when you want it, are we clear?” They all nod as the lady’s lips curved once more, “I hope nothing bad will happen much on your way there. Although, I am hopeful you will get through it with ease. Especially you have someone that you can cheat reality with.” She looks at Abigail and giggles a bit, “Just kidding. Although, magic could be a great help for you all.” Lavena bows at her one last time, “We’ll be going now, Mother Yvette. We hope this village prosper and be safe while we are out of here.” Mother Yvette smiles as they bid their farewell and left the home of the lady. They walked out of the village with the residents bidding goodbye’s to them and wishing their journey will be safe. “We just need to go south and south until we find yet another civilization. Although, we need to observe what they are since there are dangerous ones in the way.” They all nod as Keeana pulls out a map to help them travel with ease. “Since we have Crocus now, we need to avoid Lesser Untamo and the nearby small villages at all cost. We can’t go there like before. They have a weird bloodlust to witches—” Her voice suddenly becomes jittery. Abigail can see some of her parts getting cut into rectangles and getting misplaced. “Keeana, what’s happening to you?”
