She held the paper by the lamp. It was a note from Mrs. Dawson telling her that she had nothing to fear if a man should appear at Lady Collingsworth's window. She didn't want the note to be found by anybody, so she quickly took it to the fireplace. She threw it on top of the flames and shook her head laughing about the whole incident. “Tis the most beautiful sound in the world,” a male voice spoke from the black shadows in the room. The shadowed figure moved closer to Edith. “Tis only dimmed by yer beauty and my love for ye.” Edith could do nothing but stare as he moved toward her. Her mind was numb. It was his voice. It was her Ian's voice. She wanted to scream out his name, to run to him, but her body and lips wouldn't move. She was afraid it was a dream, like so many dreams of him. S
