It had been a couple of months since Lord Symington learned of her pregnancy. He still refused to have her join him for any meals, and only nodded to her in passing. The only time he spoke to her was to inquire if she was having any problems. She always replied that everything was fine. Edith cherished every day because it did not include Lord Symington in anything, and she saw her father every day, except for those days it rained and the dirt roads were impassable.
