Hazel could still feel a slight migraine, her vision was getting blur the more she looked at the files.
She took a glance at her wrist watch and it was already 10:47am. It’s late already and she had to go home to get some sleep and get prepared for work tomorrow.
She packed her bag and placed the files on the shelf at the corner of the office. She leaves the office shutting the door after her.
The night was cold and dark.she stood by the roadside waiting for a taxi as the night breeze swept across her face. Her hair moved in the direction of the wind.
Just as she stood there, a masculine figure bumped into her. He wore a pair of black jean trousers and a black hood covering his face.
“Hey, watch where you’re going” she said with a hint of irritation in her voice.
“Your life is in danger, come with me” the stranger said. His head bent towards the ground.
“Who are you? And why should I believe you? You think you can just show up out of nowhere and......”
He didn’t allow her to finish her statement before covering her nose with a white handkerchief. She tries to struggle but soon felt dizzy, her vision went blur and then finally she passed out.
He quickly drags her away without looking back.
.............................
Hazel wakes up to find herself in a strange room. The room seemed a bit scary, There were empty bottles of alcohol everywhere.
She stood up from the bed. She rushed towards the door to check if anyone was there, on her way she hits her foot on the wooden table and a small knife falls from the table.
She bent towards the ground to reach for the knife but then a masculine hand reached for it even before she could pick it up.
She raised her head to find the same person who had abducted her last night. His face was now visible as he wore a black handless shirt and a pair of black trousers.
“You shouldn’t go about taking things that doesn’t belongs to you” he said.
“Is that the reason you kidnapped me?” Hazel asked. She wore an angry look.
“First of all, I didn’t kidnap you and secondly you should be thanking me” he replied.
“Then what do you call it when a stranger drugs you and takes you to God knows where without your consent?” She asked.
“I’m Xander, so now we’re no longer strangers” he replied stretching out his hand for a handshake.
Hazel ignores him.
“I don’t care who you are, just what the heck am I doing here?!” She yelled.
“It’s really a long story but all I want you to understand right now is that as long as you’re here with me you’re safe” he replied.
Hazel was getting red and agitated. That’s not the answer she was hoping to hear.
“Hazel, someone’s after your life” he added.
“Who?” She asked folding her arms.
“It’s a surprise you’re still calm, you sure take after him don’t you, the brave spirit” he said with a chuckle.
“What the heck are you talking about?” She asked in confusion.
“Anyways, when you’re done blabbering nonsense, I have to go to work and I better not be late if I want to keep my job” she adds. She turns towards the door to leave but Xander stops her.
“You can leave if you want to, besides I won’t be able to go after you right? But keep this in mind, if you leave here now you’re not only endangering yourself but every other person you care about” he said.
“Get your hands off me!” She yelled.
“You have nerves, abducting an officer, I’ll make sure you don’t get away with this” she added before she left the room.
Xander could only smile. She’s as stubborn as her father and that only led to his cremation.
