Chapter 3

294 Words
Hazel was woken up by the alarm clock. She lazily got down from the bed as she yawned and stretched. She felt sharp pains all over. It felt like her brain cells were having a party in her head. She couldn’t remember going late to bed or doing anything that would have caused the migraine. Even worse, she couldn’t remember going to bed last night. What happened last night and why can’t she remember anything? She wondered. She sluggishly stood up from the bed and heads to the kitchen to get a cup of coffee. As she sips the coffee she tries to remember what happened to her last night and why she couldn’t remember anything. She remembered waking up yesterday, getting dressed for work...work!!! That was when it dawned on her that she was already two minutes late for work. She threw the cup of coffee into the kitchen sink and with the speed of light flew into the bathroom. Going to work late should be the last thing she would have thought of doing. Her last case had been a disaster and she had acted irrationally and now the higher authorities are watching her every move. Just one mistake could cost her job. She had a quick bath. She quickly slipped into a pair of black joggers and a white shirt. She opens the door but then realised she was forgetting something. She rushed over to her bed to get her brown jacket. She took a look at the mirror, her hair was a mess. She took a glance at her wrist watch, she’s already eight minutes late for work, the hair could wait until she gets to the office. She quickly opened the door and rushed out to board a taxi.
