The first night at her new home was heartwrenchingly sad. Luca left her standing in the foyer as he went upstairs. A middle-aged lady with a tightly-styled low bun came to introduce herself as Janer; the governess of the palace. She looked like a military drill sergeant with her dark, tight-fitting uniform and low men-styled shoes. She gently urges Mona to come with her. They walked up a huge winding stairway. They walked down the hall past the portraits of a beautiful woman. Janer sees her looking at the portraits. She tells Mona, it’s Luna Mavis. Mona wonders why Mavis’s pictures were still visible when he knew he was bringing her in. They stop in front of a door. Janer opens it to see Mona’s bags and boxes, the maids rushing to arrange her stuff. “Is this my husband’s room?” Mona asks
