Hours pass by in the tiny white house. Hours of kissing and holding, of being close to one another. Alan never tries to go further than Eve feels comfortable with and she appreciates this. Even though he is craving to kiss every inch of her soft skin and taste her sweetness.
Eventually, she really does begin to feel tired. Alan slips his arm out from under a beautiful sleeping Eve. He has been thinking for months of a way to get her out of the situation she is in and into his life permanently. The only way they can truly be together is if they get out of this town of paranormals. He could take her somewhere to live among the humans. That would be a perfectly fine situation for him. There is word of a man that can help them leave safely as soon as tomorrow. A man with a boat.
Eve wakes up to a small sounds of dishes clanking together. A familiar panic fills her as if she forgot to complete some chore and will soon be dragged from her room. When her eyes adjust on her surroundings, it isn’t Krista that she sees. It’s Alan. He is arranging some food on the small table in her new little house. She stretches and smiles at the cute young man. This is the first time anyone has ever served her food before.
She makes her way to him. When she is in arms reach he pulls her into his embrace. The sound of him breathing in her scent sends goosebumps down her arms. How can someone be so fond of her? She doesn’t quite understand.
Before she can sit and relax, she asks about her Nana. Alan explains how much his mother loves having someone else in the house besides him. They laugh and this eases her mind. Perhaps, she will eat and then go get her for the night. This is her plan anyways before Alan explains that she has already went to bed in the downstairs guest room.
This saddens Eve at first. Does Nana not need her as much as she had thought? And then, another thought comes to her. The idea of spending one night, her very first night, not having to worry about anyone else or anything. It’s a strange sensation. Who could have known, what is completely normal for so many others could feel so foreign to her?
Her body and mind begin to relax, which only serves to entice her companion. After they eat the creamy chicken and pasta in white sauce, they happily make their way to the bed. Oddly, it’s the only place to really sit in the small house besides at the kitchen table.
Eve willingly lets Alan lay her back onto the bed. She closes her eyes when he begins to trace her jaw and neck with his nose. He grazes her collar bone and then lets his hot breath fall onto her chest. His hand eagerly yet, nervously slides down her side and stops at the bottom of her shirt. When his fingertips slide underneath to touch her bare skin they both almost freeze. So many sleepless nights he spent laying in his bed imagining what it would be like to experience this moment.
“Alan..” Eve whispers.
She just isn’t ready to move this quickly. Can’t they just enjoy being this close for now before they move even closer. In her mind, if she chooses to be with him, doesn’t that mean forever? They’ll have all the time in the world, after they are out of this place.
“I’m sorry, I just..” He pauses. “I won’t lie when I say that I want you.”
Eve’s heart beats hard and fast in her chest at the honesty of his words.
“I can’t, yet. There is too much on my mind. I’m happy to be with you, but it just doesn’t seem real. I keep waiting to be dragged away from you.” Heat flushes her cheeks, she feels embarrassed for admitting her feelings and denying his at the same time.
“I know, Eve. I know. I have arranged for someone to take us up the river where there is plenty of wilderness. The humans that live there are safe and happy. I want you to be safe and happy, with me.” He says as he brushes a strand of brown hair behind her ear.
“You did?!” Excitement evident in her voice. “When can we go? Is it soon?”
“Yes! We can all leave tomorrow. You, me, and Nana. I can help you take good care of her.” He promises.
She wraps her arms around his neck and pulls him into a kiss. A kiss that even she wasn’t expecting, but in the moment it just felt right.

“Well?!” Krista shouts at her eldest son, Liam. “Where is she, why hasn’t she come back yet? Don’t tell me that greedy Mr. Grogen plans on keeping her to himself on the very first night!”
“No. I mean, he can’t.. She never showed up for work this morning. He was pretty pissed when I spoke to him.” Liam comments casually.
“What?!” Krista smacks her hand on the table and stands up, causing her chair to fall back and slam onto the floor. “That stupid little b***h! She is going to regret trying to pull one over on me!”
“There aren’t many places she could have gone, mother.” Sighs Delilah. “It’s not like she had a fan group lined up, ready to take her in.”
Krista and Liam both stare at her.
“Come on, isn’t it obvious? She has to be that boy from town. What’s his name.. Alan.” Delilah states as she rolls her eyes.
“We’ll see about that!” Spits Krista.
“Really though, how do you expect to get her to come back?” Liam questions confused, scratching his head. “It isn’t like she is going to come willingly. She’s twenty years old.. How long did you expect to keep her around?”
“As long as I need her! In fact.. I think I know just how I‘m going to do that..” Krista says, her face changing from angry into a sinister smile. “Delilah, you and I will go fetch her tomorrow.”

In the morning Alan wakes up to the warmth of Eve still in his arms. Her head is resting on his chest, her face bathed in morning light. Everything feels right when he is with her, despite his mother’s doubts. She knows something and she isn’t sharing it with him. Her and her rules about not using her gift to alter the lives around her. How could there be anything wrong with taking Eve and making a life with her somewhere that she will be safe?
Instead of dwelling on his unhappy thoughts, he decides to get up and make her breakfast. He actual enjoys it and looks forward to doing so for many years to come.
Eve shifts and moans in her sleep. The smell of breakfast and coffee fill her senses and pull her into the world of the conscious. There is no need to panic that her morning duties aren’t being fulfilled. The warm light through the soft pink curtains tells her that she is nowhere near that awful dingy cabin. She stretches her hands up to the headboard and then sits up to find Alan preparing two plates.
Is she dreaming? Is this what life is really like? For those that live in happiness..
By the time breakfast is finished and the dishes are done, Eve and Alan are beginning to get a bit stir crazy. They only have to wait about another hour before they can make their way to the boat that will lead them out of there. Alan is trying to stay calm, but it doesn’t help when all he can feel is Eve’s anxiety. Their bags are packed and they are ready to go. It should be a straight shot from his mother’s house to the boat without being seen by too many people. They can take it nice and slow with Nana.
Eve is practically pacing in the living room of the main house. The sound of the outside gate opening and closing causes her to turn suddenly towards the door. Her knee knocks a tea cup off the corner of the coffee table. She doesn’t know what to be more horrified by.. Making a mess in another woman’s home or the sound of the gate opening. She quickly leans down to clean up her mess while Alan peeks through the curtains.
“It was just the wind. Eve, you really should relax just a little bit.“ Alan says as he rubs the back of his neck.
He really needs her to calm down. Her anxiety is clouding the room and nearly overwhelming him. It is taking everything in him to stay focused on the task at hand.
“Hey, I know.” His voice soothing as he takes a hold of her shoulders. “Come with me. Let me help you relax. Please.”
She can tell by the look on his face how serious he is being. That’s when she realizes he must be feeling everything that she is. Eve still isn’t sure how his ability works either, whether her feelings are translated to him exactly as she feels them or if perhaps they are amplified in some way.
Alan takes her hand and leads her back to the small house behind the main one. She allows him to lead her through the door and to the bed. He sits beside her so her back is facing him. His thumbs begin to work at the back of her neck and shoulders, her skin warm and smooth. The tips of his fingers ease their way into the front of her shirt brushing the tops of her cleavage. Immediately they both start to feel more relaxed. She lets a soft moan escape her lips as her shirt slips down, exposing her shoulders and back. His warm breath grazes her neck.
Just then there is some commotion outside of the door. It bursts open. Some man all in black is standing in the doorway with Krista right beside him.
“You little w***e! I knew you were up to no good!” Are the words Krista shouts as several men enter the small building to seize Eve and Alan.
The two young people are being taken back to the main house. That’s when Eve realizes that most of these paranormals were with Delilah the other day. She remembers just how dangerous they are, at that moment Alan comes to the same conclusion as well.
Alan’s mother is sitting quietly on the couch next to Nana, looking brave and calm. On the opposite side of the room, Krista looks bold and bitchy. Her hands on her hips, surrounded by five young men who are just itching to start some trouble. Finally Alan finds the courage to speak up.
“What are you doing here, what could you possibly want? Eve is a grown woman.” He states low and clear.
“Oh yes. That’s so obvious, but of course you would know more about that than the rest of us.” Krista snickers. “She doesn’t have to come with me, but the old woman does. I am her legal caretaker.”
“Please, Krista no.” Eve begs. “Let me take care of her until the end. She will only burden you.”
“Hmm..” The blonde woman taps at her chin as if she’s deep in thought. “That’s true.. Then.. How about we make a deal?”
“A deal?” Eve questions barely above a whisper as Alan’s face grows pale. “What kind of deal?”
