Cayden’s POV *The night before the wedding * I had a conversation with Ethan the evening before my wedding with Ava. “ Do you know Ava asked about Carla? How did she know about Carla? Carla kept calling me the day I went to the bridal shop with Ava. That’s bad. So what did you tell her? I told her she was nobody so she shouldn’t worry about her. Okay. But Cayden, are you sure about marrying Ava? You barely know her. I know what I’m doing. Besides, this marriage is just a contract. I know it’s just a contract but you never know. Relax man, it’s a contract and we won’t be a real couple. We won’t do what couples do. We aren’t going to sleep together. She will have her room and I will have mine. I won’t even go to her room so she won’t also come to mine. We won’t be strangers at home and we aren’t going to be friends either. If you say so. You know you’re my best friend and I’m just worried about you. What if you end up falling in love with her? I don’t want you to get hurt again. What if she’s not who you think she is? I know everything I need to know about her so don’t worry and I’m not going to fall in love with her. She’s nowhere near my type. I just have this urge to have her as my wife that’s all. You have the urge to make her your wife and you think you aren’t going to fall for her? You are interested in her but you don’t know. How wouldn’t I know that I’m interested in her? I know how I feel. I’m not interested in her. I just want her under my roof.” Ethan laughed so hard and I didn’t understand why. He looked at me, shook his head, and said, “ You honestly think you are not interested in her? If you say so, what else can I say? Anyway, it’s your last night of being single so let’s just drink and celebrate.” We had a lot of drinks that evening and it was fun. Amidst the fun, I did a lot of thinking. I was anticipating what the court wedding and living together with Ava were going to be like. “ I had a lot of options but why did I choose Ava?”, I thought. I had the urge to have control over Ava’s life so badly. I just wanted her under my roof. I wanted to see how she did everything. I knew my family very well so I warned them before the occasion. I told them to make sure they comport themselves at the wedding. “ You mess with Ava, you mess with me and I will mess you up.”, I told them. My family likes to just people and mistreat people, especially my Mom. If you don’t meet their standards, they tend to trash you anyhow so I had to go warn them. I didn’t want anyone acting funny tomorrow. Wedding Day Ava’s POV “ It’s your big day!”, Anissa screamed with joy as we were getting ready for the court wedding. Anissa was more excited than I was. I was a little tense because I was going to see new faces at my wedding. “ Rich people like to judge.”, I thought. I wished the ceremony had ended even though it had not even started. Anissa realized I was tense so she decided to ease my tension. “ How do you feel? A little tensed. You will be fine. It will all be over in two hours. I know but I just feel a little uneasy. You know rich people like to make judgments about people. I have a feeling his family won’t like me. But the only thing comforting is that this is all just a contract so I’m not going to care how they feel about me. Now let’s go out there and show them who the bride is.” The ceremony was very short than I expected so it ended so fast. Cayden took me to his family and I greeted them. They were very nice to me. That wasn’t what I was expecting but I was glad they looked like they liked me. There weren’t many people at the ceremony as we decided it was just going to be family and close friends. His family was a popular one and he was also well known so if we hadn’t done it that way, we would have had reporters all over the place and we would have been in the news by now. The ceremony ended well and it was time for everyone to go back to their homes. It was my turn to take my luggage and follow Cayden to his residence. It dawned on me that I wasn’t going to be living with my parents anymore and that I was going to be in a whole different environment with someone I knew nothing about. “ I will be fine.”, I thought. We set off to Cayden’s residence. The route to his house was so beautiful so I envisioned how his home was going to look like. We got to his place and I realized that what I envisioned was nowhere close to it but rather it was bigger and better than what I imagined. It was huge and beautiful. I had to ask if he lived with his parents but he said no and that it was his house. He lived alone he just had maids and security guards that was all. I was so amazed. He was living life like the movies. The way the billionaires live lavishly in movies was his reality. I felt very poor at that moment but I decided to shake the feeling off. I liked the fact that it had become my reality too even though there was no love between us at least I was going to live comfortably and my family was going to live debt-free again. My luggage was taken upstairs by one of the security guards. Cayden and I were left alone in the corridor with my luggage upstairs. We stood there for a while without talking then Cayden walked towards me. He kept coming at me without saying anything so I got startled and decided to walk backwards. I kept going and he kept coming till I got stuck and I couldn’t move anymore. He stretched his arm out to get something around my waist area so I followed his arm with my eyes and realized it was a door knob. He opened the door and said, “ This is your room. You can breathe out.” Funny enough, I had been holding my breath the whole time he was coming at me without realizing it. I felt a little embarrassed because he could tell I was thinking he was going to do something to me. He helped me with my luggage in my room. I settled in and tried to sleep. Just then, my phone rang so I wondered who was calling at this time. I checked and it was my brother, Jim so I answered. “ Ava, can I see you now?”
