After sleeping all day Friday and Saturday, Jase was feeling much better and looked as if he’d live. He and Steve wandered into the kitchen Sunday morning before any of Steve’s roommates were up. Steve microwaved a double bowl of oatmeal for Jase and made him eat it despite Jase’s complaining that it tasted like grout. “How would you know?” Steve challenged. “Nobody’s ever tasted grout.” “Yeah, but I’ve used it in enough part-time jobs I know what it looks like, and this looks like grout.” Even though Jase was grumbling, Steve thought he looked completely adorable. Still, Steve wasn’t above teasing. With a shrug, he lifted the bowl off the table. “Okay, then don’t eat it.
