"Your Majesty, I have a suggestion to make." A council said.
"Go ahead." He permitted.
"Well, I was thinking..." He rubbed the back of his neck, finding it quite difficult to put the words. "It's concerning the pack and his majesty. We really do care about you and we thought that we should actually talk about you finding a Luna. We know how eager you want one, but we as a pack need a Luna too."
"In agreement with what Elder Gwen had said," Elder Mark chipped. "We all suggest Your Majesty should organize a mating ceremony."
Bryson so much appreciated their concern but finding a mate wasn't on his agenda at the moment. All he wanted was to make his pack better for the few months he was away. As much as he wanted a mate by his side, and an heir to call his own, he still didn't think now was the right time to find one.
"I so much appreciate your concern for myself and the pack as well, but a mate isn't on my agenda. And organizing a mating ceremony isn't necessary for now. When I am ready, I will let you all know. This meeting is over." He ended the meeting to avoid more convincing words from his councils.
They all exchanged glances, leaving one after the other.
Bryson left for his room, he didn't want to let his conversation with his councils bother him, but the moment Diana walked into his room, his mind suddenly drifted to her. What had caused this sudden attraction for her was something he couldn't explain.
He had questioned himself numerous times but still couldn't come up with a concrete answer on why it had to be his maid.
Diana, who was mindless at what was going on, didn't notice the alpha's eyes were on her. She was sweeping the floor when she began to feel dizzy, her eyes were so heavy that she could barely see her vision.
Bryson noticed what was going on but kept studying her to see what would happen next. The broom fell off her hand, and she was going to fall when Bryson dashed to her side, grabbing her in his arms.
Diana's eyes were closed for a moment, he couldn't stop from looking at her face. He was beginning to notice things he never noticed, the sparks, the growling hunger and want for her. He wants to believe all these he felt for her were only a joke, but at this point, he realizes it was all real.
Diana's eyes slowly opened. On seeing Alpha Bryson, she quickly stood up, taking steps away from him. "Your majesty." She bowed her head. "Please forgive me, I didn't mean to."
He wasn't interested in her apologies, he was more concerned about her state. "Are you alright?" He asked, worried.
"Yes, I am." She forces herself to smile even though they aren't convincing. "I'll just take these outside." She picked up the broom and parker, and quickly left the room.
As soon as she left his room, she couldn't stop from thinking about the early incident and why she had felt that way under his touch. The sparkles which followed as his hands grabbed her into his arms was something she couldn't get an answer to.
While she was deep in thought, a maid came to her. "Diana." She called.
Diana looked at her. "Yes."
"Mrs Dora wants to see you."
"Why?" She asked, troubled.
"She didn't tell me why, she only sent me to call you."
Diana went to drop the broom and parker in the store room before heading to Mrs Dora's room to meet her. She offered a knock on the door, before walking in.
"You sent for me." She said
"Yes, I did." Mrs Dora brought out an envelope, stretching it at her. "This is your monthly salary." She said,
"Ma'am, I... I don't understand. Why am I... having my salary earlier?"
"That's because you can no longer work for us. I think you should head back to whosoever got you pregnant. You don't expect after getting pregnant out of wedlock, we would take care of you and your child like we're stupid or what? So please, pack your stuff and leave while you still can."
"Ma'am, please, don't do this." She pleaded, trying to make things look like she needed to be pitied. This was what she wanted for a long time.
"Don't waste your time pleading for mercy, I can't render it to you at the moment. Kindly leave my sight or I force the guards to do that."
Diana slowly walked to the door like a helpless prodigal daughter. "The only thing I can do for you is to order the driver to take you to your home."
Diana didn't say anything, she left the room.
She packed her stuff, and even as her fellow maids asked her why she was packing, she refused to talk. She had all her clothes packed in one bag, leaving the room despite the plea from her co-maids.
She went downstairs to meet the driver waiting for her just as Mrs Dora had said. He helped her put her bag in the back seat before she entered.
Bryson was just walking out of the restroom when the door sprung open. Mrs. Dora walked in, she always smiled whenever she looked at him. "Hey, how are you doing?" She asked.
"Great. What about..." He was going to ask her how she was doing when he heard the sound of a car leaving. He walked close to the window, sighting one of his black cars leaving the compound.
"Who is that?" He asked.
"Oh, that's the driver. I sent him to pick my stuff from the waybill store." She lied. "Have you eaten?" She asked, changing the topic.
"Yeah, a few minutes ago."
Mrs Dora was more than excited at the fact that Diana had left the mansion for good. She knew letting Diana stay any longer would cause her nephew to pick more interest in her and probably take good care of her baby.
