Chapter 2

1060 Words
Five Weeks Later... Diana was arranging Alpha Bryson's room when she began to feel the urge to pour out. Her stomach has been making gurgling sounds she hated. This is the fourth time it's happened since morning but she hasn't vomited. She decided to ignore it and continue her duty before Mrs. Dora showed up with her nagging attitude. While she was sweeping the floor, she couldn't hold back the urge, and she could feel it right in her throat. She thought of running to the girl's bathroom, but it was impossible as she'd pour out even before she reached there. She rushes to Alpha Bryson's toilet, vomiting almost everything in her stomach. She flushes it, going to the sink to wash her mouth. Mrs. Dora walked in, hearing the sound of flushed water. She was sure her nephew had left about an hour ago, who then would be in the toilet? She thought. When Diana walked out, she wiped her mouth with the back of her mouth. She was shocked to see Mrs Dora standing in the middle of the room, appearing with the same emotionless expression on her face. "Mrs Dora..." She was surprised. "Shut up before I help you do that. Mrs Dora." She mocked. "What were you doing in the king's restroom?" She asked. "Nothing." "Nothing?" "No, I was... I was..." She couldn't explain herself. Even if she did want to, Mrs. Dora would never believe her. "Do you know there's a consequence for what you just did? You had the mindset to use the alpha's restroom without his permission? Are you insane?!" She snarled. "No, ma'am. It's not what you think. I was... I was actually... I..." "You what?!" Before Diana could spit a word, she rushed back into Alpha Bryson's toilet to pour out again. This raised a suspicious alarm to Mrs Dora who stood at the same position, waiting for her to leave the toilet and explain exactly what was wrong with her. She needed an explanation of what she had seen. Diana was trembling, terrified to leave the toilet because she knew what would come after. But when she did, Mrs Dora raised an eyebrow at her. "What's going on with you?" She asked. "I've been sick lately." She replied. "Am I supposed to believe that?" "The doctor said I have a serious fever due to stress." She further explained. "Look, I don't know what you're trying to do but I'll tell you, you aren't quitting your job." She finalized. "Get done with this, I have a task for you." She left the room. Diana already knew she was pregnant but she didn't want to tell anyone, especially Mrs Dora. She knew if Mrs. Dora eventually found out, she wouldn't hesitate to report to Alpha Bryson and probably frame up stories to justify that Diana had slept outside. Diana had forgotten to meet Mrs Dora after that. She was so weak that she ended up sleeping in the alpha's bedroom. Mrs. Dora didn't have in mind that she'd be in her nephew's room, so she didn't bother going to check his room. When night slowly surfaced, Alpha Bryson returned from work. Mrs. Dora had stopped him while on his way to his room, she was telling him how she had made him his best dinner for tonight. When they got to his room, they were surprised to see Diana sleeping on the floor. "Diana Simpson!" She yelled her name. Diana flinched, jerking up from her sleep. She was shocked to see Alpha Bryson and Mrs. Dora both staring at her. Alpha Bryson had an unexplainable expression boldly written on his face, while Mrs Dora looked like she was going to strangle the life out of her. Diana didn't expect things to be this way. She never thought getting pregnant would turn out this stressful and tiring. She only wanted this to get free, but she knew even if she was free from Mrs. Dora, she couldn't be free from the pains of motherhood. "What the heck are you doing here?!" She sparked. "How dare you sleep in the alpha's bedroom? Have you forgotten the rules already?" "Mrs Dora... I... is not what you think. I'm really sorry... I... I..." Mrs Dora landed a resounding slap in her face, her hand re-vibrating on her cheek. "Shut up!" She was going to land another slap on her face when Alpha Bryson ordered her to stop. "That's enough," Mrs Dora's hand stopped halfway to Diana's cheek. "Get out. Now!" She ordered. Diana quickly rushed out of the room. Mrs Dora turned to her nephew who didn't take it too seriously like she did. "I'm so sorry, Bryson. Please forgive her immature attitude." She apologized on her behalf. "It's okay. Back to what we were saying, you said you have my favorite dish waiting for me, right?" "Yes, exactly." ****** While the maids served dinner, Diana forces herself to attend to Alpha Bryson before things turn out wrong. She was putting the salad on his plate when he lost concentration in their conversation. Even while Mrs Dora was talking to him, he seemed not to be paying attention to what she was saying, but more at Diana who didn't notice he was actually staring at her. "Bryson?" His aunt called. He swiftly moved his gaze at her. "Are you even listening to me?" "Yes." She noticed the way he was looking at her, more like he was studying her. Diana, not noticing any of these, left as soon as she had served him his meal. "She is just a maid, Bryson." She reminded. "You shouldn't pay much attention to her." "I wasn't thinking about that." "I saw the way you were looking at her." "It's been long since I last tasted this. It's delicious." Mrs Dora waved a small smile. He had said that to avoid the conversation, but she tried not to push too further. But to Alpha Bryson, he knew there was more to Diana than just being a maid. Something about her that feels so weird, yet special. Not just that, he could feel a strange aura around her, one he had never felt in the past few months she had served him. But tonight, he just discovered something he never did. Something that has left him with the thought... What is she?
