*Nevaeh* “It’s just over here, isn’t it?” Sam asks, pointing to a large boulder just ahead of us. “Um….” I turn to look at him and get lost in his eyes. I don’t want to break our gaze, his soft brown eyes are so full of love. He seems so confident that he’ll come with me back to 2025, but I just can’t be so sure. “Yes, it was right over there.” I recognize the spot because I know where the cave with the spring is located, thanks to Dad drilling it into my head over the years. He nods and holds my hand as we make the slow journey over, avoiding all the ruts in the ground and saying quick, silent prayers as we pass dead soldiers along the way. My sense of smell has become almost numb by now, but I have a feeling that even after I leave here, phantom scents of the stench will remain burned
