Chapter 13 Eva

Lilura and Tyr left after bringing up that it looked like Kodan and I wanted to have s*x in the kitchen. Talk about awkward, they clearly couldn’t smell our arousal so they must have sensed our change in energy. I sighed and finished my blood, I think they embarrassed Kodan pretty bad, he was scowling across the island at me. I stood and walked around my island slowly, Kodan looked like he was at war with himself. Our lust had faded, but I still wanted to be careful. Just because we made out once didn’t mean we should continue. I turned on my sink and rinsed my blood glass and put it in my dishwasher. I carefully moved around Kodan and headed to my master bathroom. I brushed my teeth and swirled mouth wash and spit it in the sink. When I looked up, I saw Kodan in the mirror leaning against my bathroom door frame.

“Do you need a toothbrush?” I asked him carefully. “There are some in the guest bathroom under the sink.”

His eyes quickly flickered between his natural brown to amber. I could start to smell his lust again.

“Kodan,” I said and his eyes stopped flickering and stayed amber. “What do you want? You know that this is not a good idea. Cross-species relationships are difficult, well no wolf vampire relationships are difficult.”

His eyes momentarily went back to his warm brown, but firmly went amber again.

“I want you. I know I shouldn’t, but I can’t help feeling attracted to you.” Kodan told me.

“I understand, I want you too. Besides if Lilura and Tyr can sense our lustful energy, any vampire or werewolf would be able to smell it.” I whispered; I know he could hear me.

I watched in the mirror as Kodan stepped into my bathroom. As he came to stand right behind me, I turned to face him. The moment our eyes met that was it, our lips pressed together, and I wound my arms around his neck as he lifted me upsetting me on the edge of the counter. I could smell our arousal mixing. He ran his hand down my sides to the tie of my robe and pulled it undone. My hand wrapped in his hair as we continued to kiss. I felt his hands slide up my silky robe to my shoulders and his large warm hands slipped under the fabric pushing it off my shoulders to pile at my waist. I ran my hands down his strong chest and grabbed the bottom of his shirt and pulled it up as he lifted his arms above his head helping me remove his shirt. “What? I’m, yeah sure. What’s going on? Any news?” I asked trying to redirect our conversation away from what I was really doing which was continuing to move over Kodan.

“Well, Tyr found something on an ancient scroll that may point us in a better direction,” I added.

“An ancient scroll, that doesn’t sound promising,” I stated.

“Yeah I know, but I think it’s on the right track,” Lilura said. “Any news on your end?” Lilura continued to ask.

I needed to get her off the phone stat. I could already feel Kodan softening.

“Um, yeah I think so, but how about you two get to my apartment and we can compare information,” I suggested. Lilura agreed, we said goodbye and I hung up.

“Finally, she is gone.” I sighed and picked up my pace again.

I moved quickly again using my vampire speed as I moved over Kodan. He hardened again and held tightly to my hips. Lilura and Tyr would be here in an hour and Kodan and I needed to get cleaned up. We both reached our release together and I lay on top of him catching my breath,

“We need to get cleaned up,” Kodan told me.

I kissed him and got off him and made my way to my bathroom. Kodan followed me and I turned on the water and pulled out two towels. I could feel Kodan watch me move around my bathroom, I could smell his arousal again. Damn this man had stamina, but then again so did I. I looked over my shoulder at him biting my lip. He moved toward me and wrapped his arms around me. I leaned my face up and he lowered his lips to me, and we kissed. I pulled away and tested the water and stepped in my shower Kodan following me inside. “Can you call to check on the DNA? Lilura is expecting that we have some information.” I asked Kodan.

“I already did, I heard your conversation with her. They haven’t found anything yet; it is still running.” Kodan told me.

“Okay.”

Kodan finished making his food and I looked through a magazine. There was a knock on my door, and I opened it, Marcus was standing there.

“Marcus, what are you doing here?” I asked and rubbed my forehead. I really didn’t want to see him right now.

“I came to apologize for yelling at you over the phone. May I come in.” Marcus asked.

I hesitated, “Lilura and Tyr are on their way, they should be here any minute. We are close to finding the murder. I can come by the Clan house tonight.” I continued to stand in the doorway.

“What’s that smell? Why does it smell like food and wolf?” Marcus asked stepping closer to me.

“Kodan is making lunch,” I told him.

“Kodan? The next Alpha, moving on quickly I see.” Marcus snipped at me.

“We are trying to catch a killer,” I said defensively crossing my arms. “You wanted to apologize?” I pushed him to remember why he was here.

“Yes, I’m sorry for yelling at you over the phone. You are right I have been falling out of love over the centuries and I am sorry. I did not realize how much the death of our son affected me and I’m sorry for pushing you away. You are the one person I can depend on most and I don’t want to lose that, but you are right being together is not good for either of us anymore. I am happy with you working as my second, being my strongest most loyal supporter, helping craft our Clan to be as strong as it is and pushing us into the future. I will not add any extra duties to your plate, you handle a lot already.” Marcus apologized to me.

“Thank you for apologizing. I will continue to be the best second I can.” I told him and heard my private elevator open.

Tyr and Lilura stepped out and hesitated when they saw Marcus.

“Keep me informed about the human. I will see you later.” Marcus said and left, passing Tyr and Lilura on his way to the elevator.

Tyr looked unhappy seeing Marcus and Lilura looked concerned. I opened the door for them to come in.

“What was that about?” Lilura asked me.

“He apologized. So, tell us what you found.” I told her and changed the subject.

I led them to my living room, and we all sat. Lilura and I sat on the couch together while Tyr and Kodan sat in the chairs across from us. I unfolded a blanket and spread it over our laps.

“All of the items the killer has been taking reminded me of a spell I once came across. Lilura and I visited my home and found the scroll with the spell on it. The spell requires the blood of the Fae, the eye of a wolf, the conjuring hand of a witch, and the fangs of a vampire. This is an Egyptian resurrection spell to raise the first vampire.” Tyr told Kodan and me.

I could hear Lilura’s heartbeat faster. Kodan had a look of disbelief by the announcement of the spell. I had heard of the first vampire before; it was long ago after my son died, and Marcus slept with others, I left to travel. I visited many different places but there was one that I would never forget.

“Is that even possible?” Kodan asked.

I shook myself out of my thoughts. “Yes, you should call the FBI lab and check on the results. It would be unbelievably bad if the first vampire is resurrected. Actually, I need to make a call.”

I stood and grabbed my phone and headed to my room. I felt Kodan and Lilura staring at my back as I left.

I called Marcus.

“Hello?” Marcus answered.

“Can you text me the number of the middle eastern vampire clan?” I asked.

“Sure, why?”

“The human is trying to resurrect the first vampire,” I told him.

“Are you sure?” Marcus asked.

“Positive. I know that Erika knows something about the first vampire, that’s why I need that number.” I told him.

“Okay. I’ll send it. You need to stop the human as soon as possible.” Marcus told me.

“We will,” I promised.

We hung up and a few seconds later Marcus texted me the number. I called immediately.

“Hello?” A voice on the other end answered in Arabic.

“It’s Eva from the North American Clan, can I speak to Erika its important,” I said in Arabic.

“She is busy.” The voice told me.

“Tell her I am calling and need to talk to her about a story she told me when we first met. She will know what I’m talking about.” I told the voice.

“Fine.” The voice said and the line went quiet.

“Eva?” Erika asked.

“Yes.”

“Why do you need to speak to me about the first vampire?” She asked in English.

“A human has found a resurrection spell to bring back the first vampire. He has almost all the ingredients to resurrect him.” I told her.

She said a string of curses. “Alright, I am on my way. You have to stop this human as soon as possible. If the first vampire is resurrected his army of the dead will be resurrected too. The only way to kill the first vampire is with a blade forged of supernatural energy and unfortunately, the Fae have it.”

“Alright, I think I might have a way to get the blade,” I told her.

“Really, if he resurrects it’s the only thing that can destroy him. The only problem is that it can only be wielded by a vampire. So, you have to be the one to kill him.” Erika told me.

“Alright. I better go.” I told her and we said goodbye and hung up.

I returned to my living room to find Kodan finishing his call. Tyr and Lilura were sitting together on the couch.

“We have the name of our killer, Joseph Clarke,” Kodan told us and looked down at his phone and scrolled. “He is an archaeologist who was last in Egypt. There’s an article about his wife.”

Kodan continued to look at his phone. “His wife caught a strange rare disease that had no cure. It looks like she was pregnant at the time and she and the baby died.”

“Wait, a vampire in my clan was asked to turn a pregnant woman.” I interrupted.

“Do you think this is the same woman?” Lilura asked.

“It could be, maybe that’s what Joseph is doing. We wouldn’t save his wife, so he is trying to resurrect her.” I said.

“The spell is Egyptian; it makes sense that he could have found it when he was working there,” Tyr said.

“It does. Who did you call?” Lilura asked.

“A vampire that I know, she is on her way. We need to stop Joseph before he gets the blood of the Fae. Kodan, Lilura, Tyr you should all speak to your people and have them prepare for battle. The first Vampire Osiris is not the only one to be resurrected, his army of the dead will also rise. The only thing that can kill him is a blade forged of supernatural energy.” I told them and looked directly at Tyr.

“Where do we get a blade forged of supernatural energy?” Lilura asked.

“Don’t worry, I know where one is,” I told her while still looking at Tyr.

“We need to split up,” Kodan told us. “Two of us need to find Joseph while the other two stop him from killing a Fae.”

“How do we do that?” Lilura asked.

“In your vision, you saw the Fae die, but you got the wrong place. Together we will be able to get a clearer picture of where the Fae will be killed.” Tyr told Lilura.

“Is that safe?” Kodan asked. “Last time didn’t go very well.”

“This time will be different,” Tyr told us. “We will be using a Fae method.”

Lilura and Tyr did their spell to find Joseph. Tyr grabbed Lilura's hands in his facing her.

“You can do this, close your eyes and focus, you have his name now. I will give you whatever energy you need.” Tyr explained. Lilura nodded in acknowledgment. They were quiet for a while. Both their heads bent with their eyes closed. I couldn’t see it but I could smell the electric energy coming off them. I could hear Lilura's heart beat faster and her face twitched as if in pain.

“I think…” Lilura started.

“Yeah, I think I found him. Yes, I know where he is.” Lilura finished. She opened her eyes and her face was red. Tyr and Lilura released each other’s hands and faced us.

“The Fae will be killed at Waterfront Park. Early in the morning, it looks like just before sunrise.” Lilura told us.

“Okay. Tyr and I will go to Waterfront Park.” I told them. “Lilura, Kodan try and find Joseph before he kills the Fae.”

Lilura and Kodan both complained about being separated.

“That’s a good idea,” Tyr said over the top of their complaining.

“Great, let’s get ready to go!” I told them and stood. “Lilura come with me I have some gear for you to wear to protect you from Joseph and possible army of the dead.”

I took Lilura’s hand and took her to my room. She giggled seeing my bed.

“So, you and Kodan, huh?” Lilura said.

“Yes. I can smell Tyr on you, so I guess I’m not the only one who got some.” I told her.

“Yes,” Lilura said her smile turning to a frown.

“What’s wrong?” I asked her as I dug around in my closet.

“I love him, but I’m mortal and will die before him. I don’t know how we could possibly work, when I’m old and wrinkly he will want to leave me and be with someone new.” Lilura told me.

“Tyr doesn’t strike me as the type of man who would leave. I didn’t when my lover Sebastian started to get old. I stayed with him until he died of old age. He was extremely important to me, and I loved him very much. You can never forget the people you love, it's impossible. I would never trade the time I had with him.” I told Lilura.

“Why didn’t you turn him if you loved him so much?” She asked tears in her eyes.

“I asked him, and he said no. He gave me a reason that I will never forget. He told me that without an end his life held no joy. He would put everything he wanted to do off for later and eventually he would just never do it always thinking he has all the time in the world.” I told her sadly.

“I understand, I guess. But I don’t want to live without him, and I don’t want him to have to live without me.” Lilura told me.

“There is a way to extend your life, it would not be as long as Tyr’s but longer,” I told her.

“You can’t turn me my magic, wouldn’t work.”

“I wouldn’t turn you and your magic won’t be affected by this. It would just prolong your life. It’s something I learned about from a vampire, very few vampires know about this because it’s an ancient Sumerian tradition and all the old ones are gone.” I told her. “You need to think about this though and I won’t do it until you are one hundred percent positive and tell Tyr.”

“Really?” Lilura asked.

“Yes. Now take off your clothes and put this on.” I told her.

I handed Lilura a Kevlar bodysuit and continued to dig around for the choker I had made for her. It was the same as my own. The bodysuit I had made for her was a top with a side zipper and the bottoms were high wasted with a regular front zipper but both the top and bottom had a zipper track that I zipped together to form one piece. Once in her bodysuit, I helped her put on the choker.

“You can get dressed,” I said and went to my closet to get a backpack.

Lilura was dressed once again in her jeans and t-shirt. I handed her the backpack.

“What’s this for?” Lilura asked looking at the backpack.

“It has weapons in it, guns to be exact,” I told her.

“You keep guns in a backpack in your closet?” Lilura asked me in surprise.

“Yes, for you in case of emergencies. This is an emergency.” I told her.

“Oh okay.” She said and I grabbed my own backpack and we left my room.

Kodan and Tyr were waiting for us.

“Did you call the Alpha and Seelie King and tell them what going on?” I asked them.

Both Tyr and Kodan acknowledged that they did. I texted Marcus to get started prepping for battle and the arrival of Erika. Lilura texted her coven to prepare them as well.

We rode my elevator downstairs and I had my BMW and Kodan’s Audi pulled around. We split up, Tyr and I going in my car and Lilura and Kodan going in his.
