1. Making A Mistake

2024 Words
Aryanna’s POV: I really didn't think my life could get anymore miserable. My body was aching from the top of my head to the tip of my toes. I had swept, mopped and cleaned every single surface of the Alpha's house like I did everyday. I was never given anytime to rest because a guard had been put in charge of monitoring my work, so the moment I stopped to rest, I was hit with a baton to the back of my head. I had mostly worked in the Alpha's house, but when he felt like humiliating me, he would have me go to work at a random pack members house where they would make me do the most disgusting chores. When I walked on the street, the people would stare at me in disgust and move their children away from me. Even the people I once called friends never tried to talk to me, instead they humiliated me every chance they got. I dragged my tired body down to the basement because I was done for the day as it was already dark out. I shut the door behind me before moving to the small creaky bed that was in the corner of the dimly lit basement and fell on it, it's loud creak resounding in the quiet room. Tears threatened to fall from my eyes as I stared up at the ceiling, remembering the days when my life was still good. Believe it or not, there was a time in my life when I was treated like a princess. Everybody loved me and treated me nicely because my parents were good and wealthy people who were kind to everyone. My father had been the Beta of this very pack and my mother, a warrior. I never had to worry about a single thing because everything I needed was provided for me. That was until the incident. I got back from school one day to meet my mother laying on our living room floor, blood pooling out from a deep gash in her neck where her vein had been slashed, the knife lying right beside her. I remembered how I had rushed over to her and had tried to stop the bleeding the best I could, but nothing was working. I couldn’t forget the look in My mother’s eyes as she had held onto my hands trying to say something to me, but no words had come out. I shushed her as tears rolled down my eyes uncontrollably. My father had been nowhere in sight and I had been completely hopeless. I ran out of our house, hoping to see someone that would help me, but there was no one. I could remember how I had run to the Alpha's house bare feet knowing that I would get help. There had been a lot of people gathered in front of the house including the Alpha and his family and I ran towards the Alpha and fell on the floor, trying to explain that my mother was dying at the house and that I couldn't find my father, but everybody ignored me. Before I knew what was happening, two guards had grabbed me by my underarms and lifted me up. "The criminal Damon, has stolen and escaped with most of the pack's treasure and money. He was one of the most respected and most trusted men we had in this pack, but he chose to betray us and attack his own wife, before fleeing." Alpha Damon announced angrily, meaning that they knew about her mother's condition but chose to do nothing. "Since he has escaped without a trace, his spawn, Aryanna shall face the punishment in his place. She shall work as a slave in the Alpha's house for the rest of her life until she has worked to recover all that her father has stolen." He decided and all the people violently cheered. It didn’t even make any sense. Why would my father steal from the pack and then attack my mother? Why was no one asking questions? My father had been a responsible man and he had been loved by many, even if he had made a mistake was it enough to try to throw him under the bus like this? Where was the benefit of doubt, at least for someone with his status? No one even cared to check up on my mother that was lying half dead in our house. They never cared to hear my pleas and begging. I was locked up in the pack's dungeon for a while before the news of my mother's passing was brought to me. I had cried my eyes out. I felt betrayed and sad that my father had abandoned me here. Even if he had decided to steal from the pack, why didn’t he take me with him when he left? Didn’t he think I was going to suffer some kind of consequence? After the initial feeling of sadness had passed by, the only thing left in my heart was anger and hatred. I still didn’t understand it. He had never seemed like a man that would choose money over his own family. The father I remembered loved his family dearly. How could he have stolen and then killed his own mate? After a long while of thinking, I came to a conclusion that my father would never do such a thing because he was already a wealthy man, what more did he need money for? The hatred in my heart for the Alpha and the pack members grew everyday. They fact that they hadn't even thought of helping my mother first and then investigate later angered me more. I had even found that they had given my mother a proper burial because she was the wife of a traitor. This was a woman that had served the pack for years. I hated them so much that I had no strength to hate them any longer. The lingering bitter feeling was all that was left. I wiped the tears that had managed to fall as I stood up to go to the bathroom. I stripped off my clothes and shut the bathroom door behind me. Standing under the spray of the shower hoping that somehow the water would wash the bitterness in my heart or at least the strain in my muscles. When I was done, I came out of the bathroom and changed into the only nightwear that I had used for years in a row. I was surprised it still had threads in it at this point. I heard the basement door handle jiggle and so I went to open it. It was the chef and she had brought me food. She shoved the tray into my hands and walked away. I looked down at the tray and sighed. On the plate was left over pasta that wouldn't even be enough to feed a child. I had to manage what I got because I was only fed once a day. It had been a big deal when all these started, but it wasn't any more as my body had grown accustomed to it. I had lost a lot of weight and all the baby fat I had was gone. I closed the door behind me and went to sit on my bed as I practically ate the pasta in one go. I sighed and dropped the plate outside the door because I wasn't allowed to go into the main house when my duty time was over. When I was lying on my bed, about to fall asleep, I heard footsteps just outside me door, i thought it was the chef coming to take the plates but the door was suddenly pushed open and To my surprise, it wasn't her. It was Killan, the Alpha's son. I stood quickly from the bed my brows furrowed in confusion as I looked down to avoid looking him in the eye. I couldn’t count the amount of times I had been hit for making eye contact. Why was he here? He walked in and closed the door behind him. He walked forward as I walked back until my back hit the wall. I was getting a really bad feeling about this. "Hey, Arya." He shortened my name as he raised his hand up to brush my hair out of my face. He was way taller than me, so he had to bend down to look at my face that was facing the ground. "Why don't you look up?" He put his finger under my chin and forced my head up. "So pretty." He said as he brought his face closer to mine and sniffed me. He reeked of alcohol and I could only imagine the amount he would have had to consume to get him this drunk. He put his nose into the crook of my neck sniffing m while his two hands were on both of my sides to keep me in place. I knew he was a weirdo, but this was crossing the line. Killian was one of the people in the pack that had made my life a living hell. He insulted and humiliated me any chance he got. Sometimes he brought his friends to the house just for the sole purpose of them watching me and making fun of me. He would trip me whenever I walked past him and sarcastically apologize saying that he didn't see me coming. The tip of his fingers got close to the swell of my breasts and his other hand began trying to lift night wear, I felt his fingers begin rubbing my thigh and I shut my eyes hoping he would just leave me and go away, but he didn’t, his fingers continued to travel higher and higher until I couldn't take it anymore. I pushed him away from me and ran out the basement door. He followed right behind me and caught my arm pulling me forcefully, causing me to stumble and fall, but I stood quickly again and continued running. I had nowhere to go obviously but I knew that I had to get away from him. I knew what he intended to do and if he got his hands on me then there was hardly a thing that would stop him from doing it. I looked around to see if there was anyone that could save me from Killian, but there was none. It seemed there was no one in the house. As I made my way towards the kitchen door, I felt his disgusting arms wrap around me. He held me tightly and rubbed himself on me. "Where do you think you're going?" He breathed into my ear. "There's no one here to save you, so just give up." I let out a deep sigh and acted like I was going to give up so that he could relax and let his guard down. He turned me around in his arms and when I saw my chance, i took it, kicking him in the groin. He fell back and held his groin, groaning in pain. Thinking that he might still follow me out, I picked up a vase that was beside me on the shelves and dropped it on his head. Not in control of myself anymore and the anger that has taken over my frame, I knelt down in front of him as my wolf teeth grew out and I bit him multiple times all around his body. He screamed in pain as he laid there, not able to fight back from the pain of the kick and the vase on his head. When I had bitten him to my satisfaction, I stepped back and looked down at him, he lay there bleeding from the bite wounds and the wounds in his head. And it was then it dawned on me what I had just done. Realizing what had just happened and what will happen if I remained there, I ran out of the house, my heart pounding, hoping to get far enough before anyone could find out.
