The moon was shining above the trees, creating strange, but also mythical shapes and eerie atmosphere. The wind was playing enchanted melodies with the leaves and all of the creatures habitating the forest were living there peacefully, coexisting with each other in harmony.
In the middle of a meadow, small bunny got out from its burrow, just to admire the stars, dancing in the night sky.
Lillith loved this time of the year, especially the night and the feeling of the wind brushing gently her black fur.
Her favourite activity was to go near to the borders and observe the wild life. She just felt free as her paws were barely touching the ground while running quietly like a ghost. Animals didn't fear her, she just was one of them, a beloved child of the mother nature.
This night was like a perfect harmony, symphony undisturbed by anything or anyone.
Suddenly a gunshot resonated throughout the forest and chaos broke free. Animals were squealing, screeching or barking, terrified running for their lives. Birds were waking up confused, losing their ways and colliding with the trees.
Lillith begun to run with all her strength, but something strange pinched her heart, like a sudden feeling of loss and sadness. She just brushed it off and resumed running.
The wolf found its way trough the meadow, passing the trees and jumping over fallen trunks. It knew the forest as good as its own pocket, although wolfes didn't wear any clothes.
She had to reach to the castle, located near to the forest' south border.
Lillith was thinking intensively, somebody had fired a weapon and it had to be some kind of mercenary, hunting magical creatures. Lately more of them were coming to the forest. She will have to inform the alpha about the matter, but first she had to get to the castle unnoticed, or her father will be furious.
There it was, the forest border, just a little bit more, and she will safely reach her destination.
Now the hardest part was to get unnoticed trough the lanscape in front of the forest. A small strip of scorched earth, with nothing, but just a few weeds here and there. Such a little space to hide...
But she already was an expert at sneaking. One jump, to the nearest weeds, quick run to a small hole in eart, another jump, some crawling and it was done. The black creature smiled triumphantly one more step and...
"Danger"
She sensed a presence of a stranger, probaly a rouge, judging by its smell. She wanted to alarm the pack, but suddenly felt two strong arms, grabbing onto her fur from behind and reaching for her mouth.Lillith spun around, shaking off the attacker.
With her mouth wrinkled showing all of her teeth angrily and the tongue going in and out her mouth like a red snake, the jet black wolf attacked viciously.
The beast aimed for the intruders throat, but the second she threw him on the ground she felt some strong power holding her back. One second her paws were touching the grass and now she was floating in the air like some weird puppet.
''What the hell?!''
''Lillith, please, calm down, I won't hurt you, but you have to promise me, you are going to calm down. I just want to speak with you." said the man standing up
''Well, look at you, having such nice methods to start a conversation." said Lillith ironically "Choking me from behind and all, maybe a date first?"
'' I want to talk. It's about your father'' said Gabriel embarrased "I meant no harm, but nobody needs to know that I'm here and you would have alarmed the whole pack. There is a great danger coming and we have to act quickly. I made a promise to Ezekiel that in a times like that, I will take care of you."
That name... It was her father's nickname, he revealed it only to his closest friends... and to her. He once told her that anyone who knows it, is a trusted friend and may be only used in case of emergencies.
"How do you know this name?!" she growled
Gabriel haven't replied and just handed her a coat, so she could change her form and speak with him easily.
As a werewolf she had an ability to communicate telepathically with any humanoid creature if she wanted to, but it was rather invasive method, only used within the pack members or in special ocasions. Also as alpha's daughter and alpha herself, she could speak with human voice in her wolf form, but right now, she preferred to transform and be on eye level with the stranger.
The man turned around for her privacy and Lillith transformed into a young girl.
"Speak" she hissed, wrapping the coat around her body
The man's face expressed sadness and sorrow. He looked her in the eye and said those four terrrifying words "Your father is dead"
''YOU'RE LYING!'' she cried, but deep down she knew it was true. She tried to mind-link him desperately, but there was no response and after a while she realized that she couldn't even sense his wolf .
''THE ALPHA IS IN DANGER! Tom, Matt, Eric, go check on him! Barny and Elva, get your units and circle the castle, nobody goes in and out without my command!"
''YES MA'AM"
All of the nearest lands surely have heard this heartbreaking howl, escaping Lillith's throat. It was filled with so much sadness and agony that it felt like the Moon Godess herself shed tears over the young wolf's lost.
She couldn't belive that her dad was dead. She just saw him this morning in his office, working on some new project. Lillith fell to her knees, driven by despair. The pain in her chest was unbearable. It felt as if someone was slowely ripping her heart out, piece by piece. Suddenly the world around her started to dance and the darkness welcomed her in its cozy arms.
