Bael entered the tavern, cleaning his snow covered shoes on the oak floor, he knew someone followed him since he got out the forest and he actually knew who that "someone" was. He was too tired to be escaping, he had a lot sleepless nights, he was so tired. Escaping and being awake that's been his live for the past year. In other circumstances he could hide and attack the being who was sent after him, but now it was too late and he had other, more important mission to complete. He was alsow too weak but he would never admit that.
Approaching the bar he noticed a dark, human like shadow, opening the door and sliding in, it was so dark that it seemed to be absorbing the light around. Here in Montem Elle it was normal to see this kind of creatures, so nobody actually cared when the shadow entered the tabern, as it was already filled wits so rare creatures that most of their races didn't even had a name.
"So it's already here" he said slowly, he thought he had more time, but now it doesn't matter. He saw a young, chubby girl, who was handing out meals to the clients.
"She has to to be the messenger they told me about."
" Girl, come here with me. Quick!" he grabbed her and pulled behind the bar before the shadow could spot them "Have they told you that I will come?" she nodded "Good. Now sit and listen very carefully" He handed her a sack full of gold coins and a small bundle of blankets. "Those are the money for the journey and for you to create a new personality and life. YOU CANNOT EVER come back to Montem Elle. Head to the west, go trough the lake Jezper and the Aurum forest, till you see a castle on a blue mountain. Never ask strangers for the way, travel trough the darkness and in a disguise. If you ever get lost, then follow the arrow on this rock, it's magic." he handed her a purple semitransparent rock with a golden arrow floating inside
"If you want to buy food, buy it from farmers, avoid cities. Do you understand?" as she nodded, he pointed on the bundle "When you reach the castle give it to Alecto. Take my horse, it's the black one, he's tied behind the kitchen door. Now go. Go. And no matter what happens don't look back, and never, ever stop for more than few hours, just enough to eat and sleep. Always check the surroundings before." He looked back and saw that the shadow was scanning the room with its hollow eyes "Go girl. Ut per gratiam tuam semper odds erit." (May the odds always be in your favor)
"Et caelum tuum c*m multa stella este" she responded (And may your sky be full of stars)
"You speak the ancient speech?" Bael was more than surprised to see a commoner use that long gone tongue.
"There is a lot you don't know about me master Bael" she smirked at him "now go take care of those spurca creatura" (Filthy creature) she said leaving
Last thing that he saw was a blue glow and her long hair changing their color from honey gold to raven dark.
Bael smiled and slipped slowly through the shadows, heading to the main door of the tavern, happy that his mission was almost complete and the bundle was in the hands of one of the best fighter of the whole world, besides him of course - Metis the Shapeshifter. They said someone from the order will be sent, but someone that powerful?
Now he was calmer and all that remained was killing the shadow creature to guarantee Metis as save journey as he could. Untill they send another shadow she will be already safe at the Alecto's castle.
Bael crossed the door and as he was outside, at the main entrance, so he loudly shouted "Come nasty beast from the depths of hell! Come and fight with me if you dare to!"
Something whistled and he heard a frightening whisper "Hello brother I shall be forever grateful for bringing it to me..." it looked into the warriors eyes and said in dead tone "Now where exactly would you be keeping such a treasure?" it said while scanning his big coat
"If you want it then get it, but first you will have to get pass me!" Bael took his blue flamed sword and attacked.
"Shall we began? YES WE SHALL!" the shadow jumped swinging madly with two long daggers
That was fierce fight for life, but at the time beautiful. You could see as the daggers were hitting the sword and as blue and black sparks rained down on the ground. The sound of cold steel hitting each other in some kind of symphony from other world, it was an intoxicating feeling, art itself.
(fight description)
"But... how...?" ask Bael spitting blood
"The prophecy shall never come true. Don't you see brother? I WON!" the monster laughed madly, spitting black liquid "Now that the promised one is dead..." he said taking bloody bundle from one of warriors big pockets, he unwrapped it and... "NOOO! Where is it? It's EMPTY! You said you had it! WHERE IS IT?!" he shouted as he was shaking Bael's body.
"You will never have it" said Bael triumphantly, smirking weakly
"NOOOO!" the shadow evaporated, leaving nothing, but some black smoke.
Bael smiled, now his mission was complete, the bundle was safe. Now he could die in peace. He felt the heat of the wounds, it was so warm and apeasant. The last thing he saw was his own blood staining the white snow.
