DARK OBSESSION
Episode 21 — The Door She Should Never Open
The rain had been falling for hours.
Mara stood alone in the hallway, staring at the door at the end of the corridor.
She had seen it before.
But tonight, something was different.
The door was slightly open.
A thin line of warm light escaped from the darkness beyond it.
Mara's heart began to pound.
She remembered the warning she had received only hours earlier.
Don't open the door.
She had promised herself she would listen.
But then she heard a sound.
Three soft knocks.
From inside.
Mara froze.
Knock.
Knock.
Knock.
She stepped backward.
"Who's there?"
Silence.
Then a familiar voice whispered from behind the door.
"Mara..."
Her blood ran cold.
It was his voice.
The man she had spent months trying to forget.
The man everyone had told her was gone.
"No..." she whispered.
The door slowly opened wider.
A photograph slid across the floor and stopped at her feet.
Mara bent down and picked it up.
Her hands trembled.
It was a picture of her.
Taken that morning.
She looked at the photograph again.
Then she noticed something in the background.
Someone was standing behind her.
Watching.
Mara dropped the picture.
She turned around.
The hallway was empty.
But somewhere in the darkness, a phone began to ring.
Once.
Twice.
Three times.
Mara slowly followed the sound.
It was coming from the room she had been forbidden to enter.
She reached for the handle.
Before she could touch it, her phone vibrated.
A message appeared on the screen.
YOU FINALLY FOUND ME.
Mara stopped breathing.
Another message appeared.
NOW COME INSIDE.
She stared at the door.
For the first time, she understood something terrifying.
The person she had been running from...
had never been chasing her.
He had been waiting for her to come back.
Mara slowly turned the handle.
The door opened.
And inside the room was a wall covered with hundreds of photographs.
Every photograph was of her.
Every year.
Every place.
Every moment she thought she had been alone.
At the center of the wall was one final photograph.
It had been taken only minutes ago.
Mara looked at it.
Her face went pale.
Because in that photograph...
she was standing inside the room.
And behind her stood the man she believed was dead.
He smiled at the camera.
And beneath the photograph, someone had written four words:
THE OBSESSION NEVER ENDED.
