"Hello?" Came the voice from the other side of the phone.
"Hi Mrs. Cartwrite... It's Trinity" Trinity said in a small voice.
"Oh Trinity! Hi honey! It's been so long since you've come over! We miss you! Do you want me to go get Sarah?" Mrs. Cartwrite rambled out.
"N-no ma'am. Uh I actually needed to ask you and your husband a really huge favor..."
"Oh? What is it sweetie? You know we'd do anything for you. Well anything legal that is." The woman said chuckling softly.
"Y-yeah of course it's legal..." She said a small smile finding it's way on to her face as well.
"Well what is it hun?"
"Well um I kinda need a place to stay for a few weeks until my friend finishes moving down here..." She let out with a sigh.
"What? Of course! May I ask as to why you won't be staying with the Dotsons?" Mrs. Cartwrite asked curiously.
"Long story short they're kicking me out..." She said sadly.
"What? Why on Earth would they do that?! What could have happened that was so bad that they would think it's okay to abandon such a sweet child?!" The woman asked clearly surprised.
"Um I'll explain it when I get there" realising what she had said Trinity added "if I can stay that is..."
"Are you doing drugs?"
"What? no! Of course not!" She said hastily taken aback by the womans sudden question.
"Then I see no reason why you shouldnt be able to live with us. Especially if it's only a week or two like you were saying." Mrs. Cartwrite said sweetly.
"Thank you so much Mrs. C!" Trinity exclaimed happily.
"I'll be over with the truck in thirty minutes or so so that we can start bringing your stuff over okay?" Mrs. C added before calling out for her husband and explaining what was going on.
"Okay" Trinity said rushing around her room putting things I boxes she had found in the garage.
They were a little bit crappy since they were supposed to go out to the trash on Monday but that just meant she wouldn't have to pay the Dotsons back for them. That had already charged her $5 just to use the tape witch was totally ridiculous but if they were gonna charge her that much she planned on using the whole roll.
Thirty minutes later on the dot the Cartwrites's arrived with the truck. Running down to open the door before Mrs. Dotson could Trinity greeted the Cartwrites's and went back up to her room to grab some boxes ignoring the questions being thrown her way by the Dotsons about why the Cartwrites's where in their house unannounced.
Within an hour all of Trinitys things where in the bed of the Cartwrites's truck and on their way to her new temporary home. It reminded Trinity of when she was in foster care and being tossed from home to home until the Dotsons had taken her in. They had been so nice to her back then. That was until Mr. Dotson decided he didn't like how quiet Trinity was nor did he like the fact that she didn't behave 100% of the time. Who woulda thought a child who went through so much wouldn't be a perfect child? But Trinity did nothing about it and told no one seeing as she found it to be normal behavior for people to beat her.
Flashback to before the Dotsons
Trinity sat on her bed reading a book not looking up even when six shadows looked over her.
"Hey pretty girl" one of the boys sneered out.
"D-dont call me that" Trinity mumbled out.
"Who said you could tell him what to do?" One snapped out as another grabbed her by her hair and pulled her up by her hair.
"Ouch stop it. Please" she whimpered.
Smack.
"Don't talk back b***h" the one who had slapped her barked in her face.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Please, please just leave me alone please." She said starting to cry.
Smirking one of the boys lifted her shirt. "Hmmm such a pretty girl..." He purred.
"Stop! Don't touch me!" Trinity snapped finding her confidence for a second.
Smack. Thud. Wack. Thump.
Again and again she was kick slapped punched and kneed. Bruises already forming on top of the old ones Trinitys body ached and she groaned in pain not daring to make anymore noise then that.
"There now little miss pretty ain't so pretty." Said one sitting down on Trinitys bed.
"Now no one will adopt you for sure." Said another as they all joined the first on her bed.
"I'm mean it's worked so far so it should work now."
"Oh and if you tell anyone we will kill you and you know we aren't lying now doncha Trin?" The tallest one asked turning to look down at her curled up form on the ground.
Nodding her head she winced and added a quick "yes" as she received a swift kick to her side.
"That's what I thought. Come on guys we better get to the cafeteria before all the food is gone." He said standing up.
"Guess blondy here isn't gonna be eating tonight seeing as she can't even pick her worthless form off the ground." One of the shorter boys said laughing.
"How pathetic" a girl sneered as she walked by.
As the boys all left feeling good about there resent triumph, another walked in rushing over to her as he saw the state his best friend was in.
"Ah s**t Trinity what'd they do to you this time?" He said gently pulling her head onto his lap. Reaching under her bed for the secret cooler that held ice he looked over her exposed skin for wounds. "Damn they really got you bad this time" he said picking her up bridal style and putting her on to her bed.
Grabbing a few bags of ice he placed some on her face, arms, legs, and ribs (Basically every where.) He stroked her silky hair while using a rag to wipe at the blood on her face tenderly.
"I swear to God I'm gonna beat the living s**t out of ever single one of them" he growled out.
"Chris no" Trinity managed to croak out.
"Fine" he said still getting up anyway.
"Wait where are you going then?" She asked sceptical, voice breaking half way through.
"I've gotta go get us some food dummy" he said walking away.
"Okay" she said falling asleep almost immediately after.
An hour later
Trinity woke to Chris grinning down at her with a busted lip and a plate of food in each hand.
"You said you weren't going to fight them." She whined while sitting up.
"No I just said I wouldn't go just to fight them. I was going to get our food like I said they just happened to be there and my fist may or may not have slipped across Rick's face. From there is was just self defense." He said shrugging and sitting down beside her on the bed.
Attempting to glare at him she only ended up grinning despite her best efforts.
"Thank you" she said pulling him into a tight hug."I don't know what I'd do without you"
" I do! You freak out and call me to come live with you so that you wouldn't feel so alone" he said smugly.
Smacking the older boy she scoffed and went back to eating her food.
End of flashback
In the end he was right. She thought to herself as she sat nervously in the Cartwrites's truck preparing to go in and face what lie inside. More like who stood or sat inside she thought.
