Chapter 2 : Greyson

1052 Words
It's still early, although the sun has already risen.  I take a deep breath of  fresh air as I survey my surroundings.  I see, all the little houses, nestled in our village and the chimney smoke making its way into the open skies. The morning dew on the green lush grass and the heavenly smell of nature. I close my eyes and hear the birds chirping, the bustle of the villagers, as our village comes to life and the snort of my beautiful white wild horse. I named her Lilly. She lets me ride her bare back and allows no one else to mount her , except for me. We were made for each other, both care free and untamed. I cannot say that I found her, it's more a case of, she found me and allowed me to ride her! It was the day after Mother's passing. I think she felt my heartbreak, as I was sobbing to my hearts content ,at my magical special place. She licked my tears away. I was so shocked by her sudden appearance that I forgot to be sad and stopped crying.              I give a soft whistle and Lilly trots closer. She looks glorious in the backdrop of the sun and green forest. I greet her, by giving her a treat and rub my fingers over her smooth, soft pelt. She closes her eyes, leans into my touch and I cannot help myself as I give her a small kiss! Before I can be disturbed, I mount Lilly and trot off, into the forest , making our way to the waterfall and big oak tree, where I first found Lilly.  It took us less than an hour to get there. I am sweaty from the ride and pull my dress off, ready to take a dive into the tepid water of the pool, at the bottom of the waterfall. The water is refreshing on my hot skin and after a couple of lapse, I turn on my back to enjoy the view of the blue skies. above. I close my eyes and hear the sounds of the forrest, I take deep breaths of fresh air and revel in the smell of the clean crisp forest.               When I eventually open my eyes, I see a flash of bright orange, falling from the sky, Its descend, frighteningly fast. Whatever it is, is falling rapidly and has zero chance of survival! I race towards the edge of the pool and in my haste, I leave my cloak, dress and green ribbon, as I hurry to the site, where I think I saw the landing of the flash of bright orange!  As I round a big oak tree, I smell burned ash. In the middle of the grass lie a big  massive bird, burned to the crisp. It was so hot, that smoke was coming off it in waves. As I near the bird, I see orange spots barely visible, on parts of its body. This is just, so weird. I want to take the bird with me as want to show Father and Grey what I found in the forest! I turn back and run to my horse and clothes. After I get dressed, I search around for my green ribbon, but cannot find it! Frustratingly I give up my search and leave with Lilly to the site, where I found the crisp burned bird.  I soon realise that I will need a mode of transport ,for the dead bird and  make a makeshift bed, that I tie to Lilly. The bird is so heavy and it takes me a couple of tries, to get the bird on the makeshift bed. After securing the bird and trying my utter best not to damage the bird further, we trot slowly back to my village.           At home, I call Grey and Farther to take a look, at the bird and help me offloading, it into our shed, where I will, after today's celebrations investigate the origins of the bird closer. I lean over the bird and smoke stung my eyes, making it teary and before I could help it, my teardrops fall on the charcoal, crisp dead bird! No harm done, right! The bird is any way, dead.          As I exit the shed, Grey awaits me outside, he is handsome and taller than most of most his peers. Grey has a ripped body, blond hair, sky blue eyes, every girls dream boyfriend! He bestows one of his killer smiles on me, which shows the dimples in his cheeks. He has on his Grey uniform, white shirt and cream cargo pants. Every girl in our village dreams of Grey proposing to them, he is basically every girls dream man and my best friend.          I smile up to him and take his extended hand in mine. Our fingers intertwine and he pulls me close into a hug and lands a soft feathery kiss on my head. As soon as he embrace me, I feel the familiar feeling of safety and contentment. I inhale deeply, like a junky getting its fix for the day, he smells of heaven, utterly divine with a tinge of masculine scent, that is so Grey. He is way taller than me and as I look up into his face, I can see the warmth in his eyes. He wish me a happy birthday and  bends down to give me a kiss. I thought he is going for my lips and start to panic. The kiss lands on my cheek and I feel slightly disappointed that he did not kiss me on the lips. I feel my cheeks turn crimson red and hide my face in his chest. Thanking the heavens above, that Grey cannot read my mind! I chastise myself for thinking like that and quickly try to get my bearings straight, as Grey and I walk hand in hand into our kitchen to get some lunch.          After lunch with Father, Grey and I takes a leisurely stroll, through our village. At one point we stop and Grey picks a beautiful, red rose and puts it in my hair. The gesture makes me feel so special and I grab his hand and pull him along, as I literally skip through, our village roads, in pure bliss and ignorance.
