“ Thank you for coming here, Athea,” I was truly grateful to her. She smiled softly before reaching over and tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear. “ You don't have to thank me, Lily,” she said gently. “ Friends don't thank each other.” Friends. The word felt foreign on my tongue. Did I ever have one before? I couldn't remember. A faint ache settled in my chest as I searched my mind, hoping to find at least one familiar face. Nothing.
