The morning came too quickly to my liking. I opened my eyes to find myself clutching a particular pillow to my chest.

I knew who it belonged to after knowing it was his room. I know he isn't my mate but his scent makes me comfortable and safe. I was lost in my thoughts when the door of the room swung open, breaking my thoughts. I quickly put the pillow aside before sitting up on the bed.

“ Hello, dear,” the woman from earlier said as she came in followed by the beta of the pack and another warrior whose name is Carl if I am not wrong. He is not here with them, he didn't come.

“ How are you feeling right now?” She asked, with a warm smile playing on her lips.

“ I am feeling much better than before and I also think my bones are healed,” I said, her smile faltering for a moment as her brows knitted together.

“ Are you sure?” She asked. I nodded my head at her.

“ Well, it's good that you are recovering fast,” she said as one of her team members looked at me and then at her.

“ but you still need rest,” she added, and I nodded my head at her.

“ How is she?” My heart skipped a few beats hearing the familiar voice.

All the heads turned towards the doorway where he stood in all his glory. They all bowed in respect as he walked in and towards the bed.

A pang of pain shot through my chest when I noticed he didn't spare me a glance. F**k, I cursed myself inwardly looking away. At this rate I will become a bipolar person.

“ She is recovering fast……. She trailed off which made me look at him to see he was listening to her words carefully. Maybe he is deciding what to do with me.

“ Her recovery rate is way too fast than an usual wolf who was just exposed to wolfsbane and had old injuries apart from the fresh ones,” her assistant said.

“ What does it mean?” I asked, looking at Maria.

“ Honestly I really need to check to confirm my doubt and for that I have to use my power in you, if you give me permission,” she said softly.

“ Go ahead,” before I could say anything the Alpha gave her permission.

“ What?” I could feel the rage building inside of me. How could he decide anything on my behalf? I could feel the temperature in the room shift immediately and the members who came to visit me stepped back.

“ how can you……. My words were cut off by him.

“ Right now you are in my territory and I don't know your origin or if you are a threat to this pack. So yeah I can give permission since you are here,” he said, making me shut up immediately.

A lump formed in my throat as I repeated his words in my head. Threat? My chest tightened at the word.

“ Sure,” a mere whisper left my mouth as I looked away.

Maria sighed, and took my hands in hers making me look at her.

“ It won't hurt you,” she said, looking at me with a small smile.

“ It's okay even if it hurts, I am used to it,” I said looking at her with a smile that didn't reach my eyes.

I didn't know why I said that but it feels like I have been enduring pain for too long and I know how it feels.

“ What do I have to do?” I asked.

“ Nothing. Just relax and lie down,” her voice soothing and full of warmth. I nodded my head before I followed the instructions she gave me.

“ Out,” Alpha ordered, it was so sudden that I flinched. Involuntarily my eyes met his only to find out he was already looking at me.

“ Alpha?” His men asked.

“ No one will stay here during the examination,” he replied. Within a few seconds everyone was out of the room except him and Maria.

I looked away, lying down on the bed as I closed my eyes.

“ Relax,” Maria said.

Then I felt it, warmth spread through my chest to my entire body.

“ It is done,” my eyes snapped open immediately as I sat up straight on the bed.

“ Speak,” an order came from him.

“ it's……. I…… she stammered like she couldn't find words to describe the situation. I waited patiently for her to say something.

“ Her body was miraculously healed. Every injury is old, new. The broken ribs everything's,” she said.

“ She is a wolf,” Alpha said.

“ When was the last time you talked to your wolf?” She turned to me.

“ When I first woke up here,” I replied.

“ Her wolf has retreated after the attack and she is too weak to help her heal.”

“ So how do you think it happened?” I asked. Because I am curious now.

“ Either you have special powers or it is possible that you found your mate,” she said. My eyes went wide immediately hearing her words.

“ What?” Caspian's voice boomed.

“ You found your mate?” He asked.

“ What? No.”

“ If I had I would have left with him at his place,” I said immediately. For a second his eyes widened and his body stiffened before he masked it.

“ Whatever it is I will find out,” Maria said, easing the tension in the air.

“ I need an answer.vyou have twenty four hours,” he said, turning his head towards her.

“ Did you mask your scent?” Maria asked as she got up from the bed.

“ I don't know,” I answered.

“ Your scent has been masked. I will send someone to unmask your scent immediately,” she said, turning to the Alpha.

“ You masked your scent?” He asked, and I ignored him proudly.

“ I am taking my leave,” she said, bowing her head.

She closed the door behind him as she left both of us in the room. The awkward silence fell in the room before I broke it.

“ I want to talk to you,” I said looking down at my lap. He hummed in response.

“ I don't want to stay here,” I said after a few beats. I mentally cursed myself when I heard the grinding sound of his teeth.

“ And where exactly do you want to go?” He asked, his voice was laced with sarcasm.

I lifted my head and looked at him, the moment I did my heart skipped a few beats. His face looked cold, his jaw clenched, he looked feral and dangerous.

“ I don't want to stay in your room,” I replied.

“ Aahhh, so you want to go with your mate?” He asked, anger was visible in his voice.

“ Sure, if I had one,” I said, testing his patience and my luck. Before I could say anything anymore a low growl vibrated in his chest, and that was enough to shut me up.

“ You are eager to find him,” he said.

“ Why not? If the Moon goddess has blessed me with a mate then I don't find anything wrong with being with my mate,” I retorted back. I don't know why he is mad but he surely started to irritate me with his baseless anger.

Removing the sheet from my legs, I swung my legs off of the bed before I got out.

“ I don't want to stay here anymore,” I said, walking past him. But before I could put more distance between us he grabbed my wrist making me stop in my tracks.

“ Leave my hand,” I said, without turning to face him.

“ Who gave you the permission to leave?” He asked in his deep voice.

“ I don't need your permission and you don't own me,” I said, turning to face him. My breath hitched when my eyes fell on him.

A chilling sensation went down my spine when I looked into his soulless back orbs. There were veins popping out on his neck and forehead.

“ You…. Are scaring me,” I said when he took a step forward. But that didn't stop him.

For every step he took towards me I took a step back while my hand was still in his iron-like grip.

“ You are not allowed to leave this place,” he said in his voice because animalistic and unrecognisable.

“ To hell this place you are not allowed to leave my room,” he said with a smirk on his lips. I stopped breathing when my back hit the wall behind me.

“ I don't want to stay here,” I said in a low voice

“ I will not hurt you little flower. But unless I solve this mystery please stay inside this room,” he said, voice softening.

He lifted his hand and touched my cheeks so tenderly, I swear I didn't feel anything on my skin.

His black orbs turned to the normal shade of green as he looked at me tenderly.

“ Will you stay here until I find out everything about you and until I make sure there is no danger for you out there?” He asked. I couldn't say anything so I nodded my head at him.

I stayed rooted in my place as he was pinning me to the wall. I could hear my own heart beat and I am sure he could too. His eyes flickered from my lips to my eyes.

Then he leaned down. I knew what was coming so I closed my eyes but a loud banging on the door made me flinch and he pulled away.

“ Alpha,” a feminine voice came from the other side of the door.

“ What is it?” He asked, completely annoyed.

“ the healer asked me to come and check on her,” she replied.

Placing my hand in his chest I pushed him away before walking away from him and putting respectable distance between us. Because I didn't want any bad rumour to be spread in his pack. He looked at me and then opened the door.

Without a word he walked out of the room. She bowed her head to him as he walked past her.

“ You must be lily,” she said, lifting her head as she gave me a genuine smile.

“ I am.”

“ I am Athea,” she said, coming inside.

“ You have a beautiful name, Athea,” I said, closing the door and walking inside.

“ Yup, your scent is definitely masked,” she said after sniffing the air.

“ This will help you with that,” she said, pulling out a clothed pouch from her pocket before she forwarded it towards me.

“ Soak this in the tub and then use the water for bathing. It will be better if you soak yourself for a few minutes in the infused water as the herbs you had used to mask your scent are pretty strong and rare,” she added.

“ The herb grows only in two places, one is in a mountain far away and one near the blue heaven pack,” she mumbled to herself. I felt something in my chest but didn't know what.

“ Anyways it will help you with the masking. And who knows you might find your mate here,” she winked at me, making me chuckle.

“ Anyway I am leaving for now. I have so many things to do now,” she said, running to the door.

“ Can I come again?” She asked over her shoulder.

“ Sure. Anytime.”

“ I like you, lily,” and with that she stormed out of the room
