Chapter-43 " They make such a good pair"

It's been over 2 weeks since Jace has been outside, hiding himself not to get noticed and also searching for the demons base. He had not had any personal contact with any one during this time other than calling Al twice.

He had been on many mission all his life and this was supposed to be not that different but it was and he was very satisfied with the change.

He wanted to finish his goal as soon as possible and return back, this had never happened, back then never in his life did he ever wanted to return to that dark cave where he hardly consider a home. It was just a place for him to learn and sharpen his wit as every day that passed by was another day for the survival of the fittest. Some crazy demons kill the one's who are in a higher position than them to occupy their status.

But this time he could hardly wait to go back and he knew it was because of her. It was because Iri was waiting for him and he wanted to return by her side. The future may be uncertain, their relationship may be unclear and he might not have a chance but the anticipation, worry, excitement and love made him feel like he had never before, it made him feel alive.

There were many hiding places for the demons, many camps and he was raised and trained in different camps like them but there was a main base where the leaders and pure bloods reside. No half breed can ever step foot in there and he had never wanted to go there so he never tried to find out about it but now that his aim had changed he tried his best to search all over his memory and remember even a tiny hint of the whereabouts of that place. But there was none, the higher up's made sure to kill every single person, if a person who shouldn't know about the place found out about it.

He asked around the ones who was running away from the demons control like him hoping that there are some survivors among those who ran from the base but they had no idea of the place and instead many were weary of Jace himself, they either ran or fought with him thinking he was one of the pure bloods lackeys when he approached them. But how could he blame them, he was famous for hunting down those who ran from the demons grasp and taking them back to the hell hole so many were weary of him.

But after much searching and asking around he found out that the demons base was likely in a certain area but the description was so vague and it was only a suspicion so he didn't know where to start but still he had to go and search around the area as that was the only lead he had at the moment.

It was a windy and rainy day, Iri's work for the day had to be delayed so she returned home to Al's place quite late. She drove the car to the garage and went out taking out an umbrella with her. She saw a black shadow in the corner of the front door lying in a lump.

Iri was a bit weary, the wind got heavier and the rain poured accompanied by thundering sounds. She grabbed the umbrella she was holding tighter and wearily approached the shadow but as she got a clearer view she ran towards it not even caring about the pouring drops.

Jace was sitting there with his back leaned against the wall. He was covered in blood and was barely conscious, he heard Iri's voice calling for him and felt like the pain in him eased a little. He could hardly make out her face as his sight blurred.

He saw that she was crying and panicking but he could not even raise his hand to comfort her and tell her to calm down. He tried to lift his hand but just trying to do that took all his energy and before he could touch her his vision and consciousness went out.

The next time he woke up his body was hurting all over but the pain had decreased and he could feel the bandages in his body as well as a warm cloth over his head, he was lying in an unfamiliar bedroom.

He tried to move but before he could Iri's voice entered from the door along with her, she quickly ran towards him taking the cloth off his forehead and asked, " You're awake? How are you feeling? "

He tried to talk but his throat was dry so he only managed a whisper, " I'm fine. "

Iri brought him a cup of water water to drink from the water jug on the table and helped him get up to drink it.

After making sure that he was feeling comfortable and quenched she asked, " What happened? You were sitting out in the rain with the wounds and... fainted, even after the wound on your stomach was treated you won't wake up for the whole day but the doctor said that you're better now." She was trying not to sound too emotional, she didn't want to tell him much but he was having a high fever all night and she had been looking after him all throughout that time.

Jace looked at her and asked, " Doctor? Where am I? "

Iri understood why he was asking that so she said, " It's okay, Ella said it'll be okay. We're at Al's place and the one who checked you up was Al's private doctor and since it was a wound that could be patch up with a few stitches she said that he would not notice any abnormalities. "

He asked, " Oh, So where is Aldri and Ella now? " He asked trying not to remind the girl too much about the scene from before seeing that she was nearly on tears again.

Iri stood up quickly and said, " They are in the living room, I'll go call them. "

Jace stopped him, " It's fine, I'll go down. "

She hold him down by his shoulder and said, " No you should rest, you're still injured. "

He hold out his hand caressing her cheeks and smiled softly at her, " It's fine now, thank you Iri. I'm not feeling hurt anymore so let's go down, shall we? "

She reluctantly agreed and went to get him some warm clothes. They went downstairs to Al and Ella and they told Jace to rest in the bed but he assured them he was fine so they talked of the incidents that happened.

Jace told them about the incidents briefly, " I was asking around for their whereabouts and an old guy who knew somewhat about the demons told me that he didn't know the exact location but he could tell me the area where it is most likely at so I went there, but before I could get in further they found me and attacked me, I barely manage to ran away so couldn't see any more. But looking at the tightness of the security I'm sure it's somewhere around there. "

Al gently said, " It's great that you get away, we can't start on anything without you. "

Then Ella asked him, " Umm by any chance is the old man who told you about the place have whipping wounds on his face, he's an old guy but talks roughly. "

" Yes, he did, he said he recently ran from one of the camp. Do you know him Ella? " Jace asked her.

" Yes, that must have been Old Li, although I don't know his whereabouts because he often move from place to place but if he's the one who told you about the area than there's a high chance it's true. " Ella thought about how he once told her that his father was a pure blood.

Al suggested, " Then next time we should make a better plan and search around the area again. But for now treatment of Jace's wounds should be top priority. I doubt the demons would make any rash decision anytime soon. "

Jace spoke up on it, " I'm fine, we can start with a plan. "

Iri raised her voice, " Of course you're not, come we're going to rest. " She stood up and dragged Jace off with her. 

Al and Ella looked at them and smile, " They make such a good pair. " Said Ella. 

Al also said, " Yes they do, I'm glad he found someone to precious to him this time. "

Ella asked him a bit shocked, " Did you know him from before Al? "

" Yes, he was a fine general under me, but he died that day when the demons attacked. He was a lonely man as his family was killed of by the demons when he was young and was brought up in the Army base along with me. But no matter what world he's in, I guess his fate is bound to be tied with me and the demons. I could not do anything for him both times. " Al commented on it with a sorrowful face. 

Seeing that Ella hold the back of his hand that was lying on the arm of the couch and said, " Don't be sad, it was not you fault and besides this time he has found someone and you can cheer for him. "

Al turned his hand over and intertwined their finger together and looking at her he said with a smile," I guess I can do that. "
