He'd barely had twelve hours of freedom before the trap closed again. Marcus got out of bed and went to Victoria's door. He knocked softly. "Come in," she called. Victoria was sitting up in bed, reading something on her tablet. She looked up as Marcus entered. "Can't sleep?" she asked. "Damien just called in his debt. Tomorrow at noon. I have to meet him in Brooklyn." Victoria's face went pale. "Already? But you just made the deal tonight. He said he'd wait, give you time—" "He lied. Or he changed his mind.
