The ground was parched and the humidity had changed. That was not what it felt like during the last time I was there. Right then, there were no more clinging bells and not even a burst of single laughter. Was there something more I needed to know? We went through different houses that were, somehow, linked. A door faced another door to receive us as we moved along. People looked at us as if they were hungry hounds. The inks printed on their pale skins made them look more sinister. Piercing their thick fleshes were fake golds and silver. Were they the faces of my people? Their eyes were surrounded by the misery that was portrayed by the darkest shades of black.
