The Javelins

1961 Words
A raven-haired princess. Wearing an ocean dress; with her body's natural wave, it adapts. I saw her, everything about her was so special. Everything. It is... She is...the beauty of the last fallen leaf of autumn. Franklin projected a kingdom and I saw her being abducted by Earthbreeds. Imprisoned inside the highest stone tower. Seeing both fierceness and fright in her eyes. She was a mystery to me and I longed for that woman's name. That woman. I thought I knew her. It was like I knew her all my life. Why could it be? "That tower is 300 feet tall making it hard to climb on... and escape from. But I have, here in my pocket, the tool we need to retrieve her. Unfortunately, the tower is filled with Earthbreed magic. Creating a Gen's portal to arrive there would endanger us for a great amount of magic is discernible to them even from afar", Franklin said while pointing to the tower and added, "It is guarded by diarvans and mystivans..." "Diarvans and mystivans? I never heard of those terms", Suade said. "It is essential to know about these things in order to understand more the nature of Earthbreeds", Franklin clarified. "By all means, please do continue", I requested. Franklin proceeded, "Diarvans and mystivans are Earthbreeds living in the Tree of Myths. As some of you believe, they have neither a spirit nor a soul but only bodies they continue to protect. But whatever it is you believe in, it doesn't matter here." "In Cambris Province, we believe that back when the demons fell from the Silver City, their cries reached the earth and their tears were scattered throughout the land which gave birth to the Earthbreeds - diarvans, mystivans, and mourans", Leonar shared. "f**k their races. All we just need to know is that they're s**t and needs to die", said Suade. Franklin was so calm even with Suade distracting him. Franklin continued, "Diarvans are Earthbreeds with reddish skin and an alligator's texture. Stronger than any of the other two races and as big as two Eliezerims but only slightly taller. They have pig teeth and only 8 fingers. But what you really need to be watchful of are mystivans. They are tiny Earthbreeds who use magic in their arrows. The highest race of Earthbreeds for they are wiser. They shelter in trees where their magic regenerates. Their eyes are little balls of jade which gives them a sharper sight. They usually have hair that extends to their shoulders." "Wait, why was she abducted?" Glorio asked. "Come on, it's the Earthbreeds. What other reason could they have?" Sim responded and some of us laughed. "It might be exactly what you're guessing, Ser Simuel", Franklin replied as he nodded. Suade corrected him, "Seriously? Sentinels are a powerful race of Eliezerim. I'm sure there must be something more." I knew Franklin only meant for it to be sarcastic yet that happened. Franklin smirked as if an idea had been proven to him. Was he only looking for answers also? "Suade, it seems like you know this matter. Do you care to share it with everybody?" Suade only shot a single chuckle. Franklin noticed Suade was up to something and he did not want to do anything reckless so he turned to Sim. "Ser Simuel, I would say that this is a very serious matter and that you should consider taking this just as serious", he explained. We agreed and the scene had disappeared. The mirror reflected ourselves. The warriors of Quendere. "She is Princess Kirstine of House Guiseid. The Grockhaven led their land to chaos yet they managed to survive. However, they became vulnerable to other forces. The Earthbreeds captured her for some unknown reasons", Franklin stated. Yes, a name. A lovely name for a lovely woman. "What shall we do now?" Glorio asked dubiously and leaned at Suade's shoulder with his arm above them. "That's why I brought you all here. We also have to be investigative and seek answers", he replied. "Right, Suade?" Franklin looked at him. Suade swallowed saliva and nodded quickly. "Of all certainty." "So we're here to help a princess?" Glorio asked as he motioned his head to face Franklin. I smoldered and slowly said "Yes, and as what Lord Franklin said, we're here to find answers." I doubt that anyone of us did not know what was happening. Everyone was just pretending. Having other plans running around the minds of these men. We were all there for some scheme, each of us. I wondered why Leo was not speaking. He only observed the words that our mouths would release and the expressions on our faces if they match. All of us spoke no more and looked at each other - so focused - as if creating a synchronized plan. Finally, the unity had arrived from a very far place. The word unity during that moment was a lie I would not dare to utter. The Scy Fortress is a martial base but whenever it is needed, Franklin asks assistance from princes and knights of some of the kingdoms. It is because the kingdoms owe the Scy Fortress much for aiding them in the best ways possible in any war. Franklin is the Lord Commander of Scy. Franklin broke the silence "Alright!" and used his index and middle finger to signal Lady Heather. A commander of one of Franklin's armies. She was a bald woman. I always liked to believe that it was because she became a knight and she needed to shave her head. Though it's barely audible, I could still hear what he whispered to her "Prepare my horse. We'll be going." Franklin set his right hand in the middle of us, I placed my hand over it and so was everybody in the company. A mood of resilience overtook the union of the bravest. "The gods in our quest", Franklin said and we replied, "May their favor be upon us." How did Nick know about it if he had only joined the company's adventures now. But maybe he'd been instructed before, or maybe for some other reason. After hours, we walked out of the room and prepared our ride. All of us lined horizontally and the wind felt so close. Glorio and Suade were on their horses already. All set. Leo was already on his black, red-eyed bull. Nick called for his bird to land and it did, so he rode at its back. The bird's beak was of an eagle but its feathers were scales of a dragon. Factor and I were already set at the back of Jamal. Factor asked, "Are you sure you want to come with us? You are not yet totally healed." I nodded. Finally, Franklin came out from his stables - riding a white-winged horse. Sim appeared from a bit of hiding. Franklin let Ser Sim borrow one of the two Pegasuses left in his stables. He asked us: "You sure you don't want to fly?" I was still amazed by how Sim appeared unnoticeable. So I raised a question, "Have you been there the whole time?" "I've seen things", he responded. I didn't understand what he was trying to imply. "Don't be silly", I replied. I answered Franklin, "Well I guess we can't." Glorio rubbed the back of their horses' neck and when he drew those hands back, both Suade and Glorio's horses became small dragons. Let's see how long he can sustain such trick, I'm sure it requires a massive amount of magic. He said with an irritating smile "No, you're the only ones who can't", he breathed deeply and laughed aloud foolishly. "Can you at least use your magic to change our horse and bull?" I winced and asked with an obvious attempt of mockery. Well, let's test his endurance. "Of course, I can", he said with the same tone he had at first. Jamal neighed like feeling something different was happening to him. Green liquid-like formation surged from his tail to his mouth. He had wings and his skin changed to snow. Leo's bull also became a Pegasus. Not knowing why, but Glorio also transformed Nick's bird. Maybe because it was so intimidating, and he didn't want to be intimidated just by a bird. I felt his foolishness that time reaching for us. Franklin ended our conversation and yelled "Yeisa." We followed him and dubiously said "Yeisa?" Then, we're in the ether - traveling somewhere. I could feel the breeze coming from the Golden Mountains of the West that we passed over. "They're good, aren't they?" Suade asked. "Good?" I responded, not knowing what he meant. Did he mean the mountains or flying? "The mountains, you silly creature" Franklin answered the question. "Of course", I responded. It would take us to reach a higher altitude to again pass the incoming mountain so Franklin only let his horse's shoes hit its surface, said "Follow me!", and rode the mountain's land. We all ran at the same pace except for their dragons which were slower. "Oh c'mon, can't you run any faster?" he questioned his dragon. Another display of humility, modesty, and encouragement. It had been the irony I had in mind. He shook his head while sighing; Glorio and Suade spun their dragon in the air while they two ran to catch for us. The dragons became Pegasuses painted with black skin and came back which caught and received them while they jumped high to the end of the ground. We flew, again in low altitude, over a river. We were so close to the waters that we could reach and touch them with our hands. I felt its warmth like they were from the Volcano of Surtur which we were about to encounter. I searched for everyone's reaction. It's like the waters soothed them. I went with the ghost-quiet ambiance. We evaded the volcano by changing our directions to its side. Each of us had been a part of a snake, which always followed the head in all ways it would go. Only that we didn't know what the head was, or who. Finally, behind the volcano was the place we've been looking for, so we halted and hopped out of our horses. I heard a clear din from the three tall towers called the Javelins and I told them "Look! We're here." Voluntarily, our bodies hid through the things we saw that could conceal us - the withered bushes, dead trees, and the reddish rocks. It was like my eyes pointed to the towers, that's why they noticed them. The mirror's revelation was indeed true, diarvans were carrying red-painted axes on their right hands and indestructible shields covering their left arms. Mystivans were on their turrets and were ready to release their arrows from each bow. The other two distractive towers made it difficult for us to decipher where Princess Kirstine was. She had been there - alone, confused, and detained not only by the Earthbreeds but also by the thought: she would never get out. We were uncertain of her location among the three. Franklin was about to say something when Suade interrupted him by saying "Let's gather around. We hid at the withered bushes quickly and I looked at Franklin to know his thoughts but the bowing of his head won't let me. Suade presented an amazing plan as we listened to him carefully. He gave us tasks that were based on our strengths and abilities. We all agreed to the plan as he placed his right hand in the middle of us. I was about to place mine over his, but I felt awkward when the rest of us only turned our backs and got ourselves ready for our assignments.
