When Dani next woke, she was laying on top of the upstairs bed with a soft blanket over her. Out of the window, the dull grey skies of dawn emerged over the trees. Folding the blanket, she left it at the end of the bed before grabbing some of her spare clothes and headed to the bathroom. Pausing at the bottom of the stairs, she listened out and could here the deep, even breaths of a still sleeping Will. Getting ready for the day, she had a quick coffee and toast before heading to the restaurant, ready for the breakfast shift. “Dani!” Her mum rushed over and gave her a big hug. “Morning mum.” Dani squeezed her back, waving to her dad who came out the staff room. “How are you, darling? I thought you would be back last night?” She asked. “Ah, I just fell asleep reading.” Her mum rolled
