Wyatt pov "Dammit," I muttered, frustration etched all over my face. The past week had been a living hell with the news of Thompson's soaring profits. Those Thompson Enterprises were driving me insane. As if that wasn't enough, the media showcased the CEO's triumph, and just seeing his face ignited a fire within me. Fed up with the news, I grabbed the remote and turned it off. I've barely gotten any sleep , each time I close my eyes my mind replayed the vivid scenes of my father's profound disappointment, It's like a movie stuck on repeat, and I can't escape it. Sleep feels impossible, like I'm stuck in a suffocating grip of not being good enough. "I give you one job, and you mess it up in just three months!" Logan's voice echoed in the confines of my thoughts. Despite my mother's earnest attempts to pacify him, her efforts only added to the frustration. In his eyes, I could see the stark manifestation of disappointment, an unrelenting label of failure pressed upon me a weight too heavy to bear in the silent hours of the night. "I'll work on that," I said, trying to defend myself. "You better," he retorted as he walked away, pausing at the entrance. Without looking at me, he added, "At least Liam isn't a disappointment." Those words hit me hard, it felt like my heart had shattered into pieces. As if fate knew my thoughts my phone buzzed. "I just forwarded a file. This should help," Liam's message read. As I stared at those words, a mix of feelings swirled inside me. It felt a bit pathetic relying on Liam's solutions all the time. But Liam's ideas always worked, and deep down, I felt a sense of relief. Another message popped up, "if you need anything. I'm here for you." Liam, more than a friend, was like a brother I never had. My parents took him in after his parents passed away, making us family.. However, deep down I felt a pang of jealous. My dad might not say it, but it was written in his face that Liam was his favourite. There was always this spark whenever he spoke about Liam. I wished he could look at me the way he looked at Liam. I replied to Liam's message, "Thanks, man." I felt like an utter mess, as if I were drowning in a sea of emotions too overwhelming to bear. It felt like I was falling into an abyss with no end in sight, a relentless descent into darkness. In my attempt to grasp at any act of control, I fumbled with my tie, a futile gesture to relieve the suffocating weight pressing down on me. Despite my swift adjustment, the fabric offered no ease, leaving me tangled in a trap of emotions I couldn't escape. Frustrated, I walked to my shelf. "s**t," I cursed as I noticed the empty space. I had instructed Robert to get rid of all my alcohol. Slamming the door in frustration, I needed an escape. And then I thought of her my Avery. The only person who could soothe my soul, never judging me. Without hesitation, I picked up my phone and typed, "I miss you." Glued to my screen, I hoped for a reply from her. A broad smile stretched across my face when my screen lit up. "I miss you more ?," she replied. Without a second thought, my legs carried me toward the door. Buy "I'll be out for an hour," I informed my secretary, not waiting for a response as I walked out. I needed her My light in the dark tunnel, my everything, my Avery. It felt silly how my heart fluttered just thinking about her. I wished the walk to her office was quicker; it felt like an eternity, but running would make me look like a madman. Finally, I arrived at her office. Upon entering, I noticed her secretary looking slightly shocked at my unannounced visit. "Nobody comes in for the next hour. We have some important work to talk about," I lied smoothly. The last thing I needed was a distraction. Opening the door, her surprised expression greeted me. Swiftly shutting the door, I walked up to her and enveloped her in a tight hug. She gently patted my back. "Is everything okay?" concern echoed in her voice. "Can we just stay like this?" I requested. That was all I needed. She responded by embracing the hug, and I lost count of how long we stayed like that. Time could run for all I cared; just being in her arms was what I needed. When I finally released her and looked into her eyes, concern was written all over her face. I didn't want her to delve into what happened, knowing she was going to ask. I couldn't let her see me like a pathetic loser, which I was, and then I did the next thing to distract her. I placed my lips gently on hers. What started as a gentle kiss soon became fiercely. Using my tongue I parted her lips to get more access. Her lips where warm and soft against mine. I knew this wasn't right, we had discussed about not involving our personal life with work but right now I couldn’t help my self all I wanted to do was keep going. Soon it felt like a heat had build up within me. I wanted more. I wanted her. Not breaking the kiss we gently kept moving until the back of my legs found it's way to her couch. As I sat I pulled her unto my laps already missing the few seconds apart. I crashed my lips back on hers causing her to release a pleasant sound, Gosh that sound drove me crazy. I wanted her so badly. “ We shouldn’t “ she gasped when the finally parted She was right. It was best if we stopped, but my longing for her held me captive. The desperation in my plea escaped my lips as a whisper, a plea that carried the weight of my intense need: "Please, I need you so badly." “ What if someone walks I…”her words cut short as I placed light kisses on her neck, sucking so tenderly at her favorite spot. “ Don’t worry love I instructed nobody to come in for the next hour and it's a good thing the office is sound proof” I said teasingly. I had no intention of forcing her into anything she didn't want, and the thought of stopping, even if it shattered my heart, was an option I would respect. However, the expression on her face revealed a struggle, a battle between desire and concentration. It was evident she fought to rein in every surge of lust, each fleeting distraction warring with her attempt to focus. "Fine," she muttered, wrapping her hands around my neck she drew me in for a kiss that felt like a tempest of conflicting emotions. As our lips collided, a wave of intensity engulfed my senses, rendering my mind momentarily blank. Craving for more contact I couldn't help but pull her closer, the pressure adding a delightful intensity to the moment, eliciting a low, involuntary groan from deep within me. Soon our hands where everywhere devouring every part of our bodies, we found ourselves unable to resist the magnetic pull between us. Avery, with a swift grace, had shed my jacket and was now skillfully unbuttoning my shirt. As she finished, her hands delicately found their place on my bare chest, tracing a tantalizing path with unhurried movements. It was a delicious agony, and I couldn't help but hiss at the exquisite sensations. “ You're so beautiful” I said in the midst of our kiss. Ring I ignored. Ring I ignored again kissing her more passionately. RING! "Dammit," Avery exclaimed, abruptly breaking our kiss. She rose, a mix of frustration and urgency etched across her face, reaching for her phone. With visible annoyance, she answered the call with a curt "What!" Soon, her eyes widened in surprise, and without hesitation, she abruptly ended the call. “You have a meeting and you’re 20minties late she said as she picked up my jacket and handed it to me "s**t, I forgot about that," she shoots me a questioning look. I could see her disbelief, a silent 'really?' etched on her face. The distraction had consumed me so entirely that I had overlooked that detail. Swiftly rearranging ourselves, we exited her office. Stepping into the corridor, we encountered her secretary. The way she purposefully avoided meeting our eyes hinted at her awareness of the situation. The rumpled clothes and swollen lips spoke volumes, amplifying the silent admission of our shared intimacy. Clearly embarrassed, I cleared my throat in an attempt to alleviate the awkward situation. "We'll continue the meeting concerning the marketing strategy," I announced. “Thanks” I said as I quickly walked out of her office.
