The voice had instructed me to stay back, and I instantly looked confused. I had no business with him whatsoever, so why should I stay back? I moved an inch closer to the door, and the voice roared again.
"Didn't you hear what he just said? Stay back!" This time, the voice had changed; it was someone else's, and I felt like I was the only one who had no idea what was going on. My parents were already outside the door. There was no way they would leave this place without me after all; I came here with them. I quickly neglected whosoever was behind the voice, and I ran to meet my parents.
"Drag her back in!" The voice shouted. I quickly ran to where my parents' car was parked.
"Leah! Go back in, now!" My father commanded, his eyes filled with so much anger. I looked inside the car, and my mom sat in the passenger side, her head down, and I heard her sobbing.
"Dad! What's going on? Why should I go back in? I'm leaving with you guys because I came here with you guys," I blurted out. I grabbed the car handle, and I felt a sharp grip on my shoulder. Two hefty men grabbed me.
"Dad, Mom! What's going on? Please tell me. Why won't these people let me go?" I burst into tears. My father turned to leave, and I grabbed the edge of his shirt.
"Father! Please, it's my birthday today. Whatever is going on, please make it stop. You are scaring me…" I pleaded in tears, but to my surprise, my father pushed me away, and he started his car. He immediately started to zoom off, leaving me here with these hefty men. I started to chase the car, but before I knew it, one of the men lifted me up and threw me on his shoulders. He was carrying me back inside, and I started to scream in pain.
"Mom! Mom! Please don't let them take me away… Mom.. Please.. Please.." I cried out in pain, hitting the man that carried me inside.
"Put me down! Put me down!" I screamed.
"Okay…." The hefty man threw me on the sitting room tiled floor, and I landed on my ankle. My hands were scratched, and my forehead too.
"Please… I've done nothing wrong; I beg you… Why are you hurting me?" I cried out in pain.
"You shouldn't have tried to run away," the voice from before said. His voice was filled with so much mockery. It was clear that these people didn't mean good for me.
"Who are you and where am I?" I yelled.
"Shouldn't you have asked your parents that question?" He snickered.
"They didn't say anything to me, so you tell me… Who are you and what am I doing here?" I stuttered. The cuts on my body were gradually stinging, and blood started to flow from them. I then realized it wasn't a mere scratch; I had a deep cut.
"Hmmm, too bad because you won't be seeing them again," he burst into laughter. My eyes widened in shock.
"What do you mean… What do you mean.." I stuttered, trying to fight back tears.
"Take her inside and get her ready," the voice commanded, and the men tried to carry me again. It was a narrow road, but I slipped between his legs and ran to the door. Lucky for me, it was open. I didn't know why they weren't chasing me, but I was happy. I managed to run out of the sitting room, and I kept running. The compound was so big, and I started searching for the main gate of exit. My eyes met it, but some security men were on duty, so I turned to look for another exit. My eyes fixed on my surroundings.
"Who are you?" I heard a voice from behind. It was a little girl.
"Hiiii .. Uhmmm, please, is there any exit nearby?" I asked her. She looked like she knew the surrounding very well because she was riding a bike.
"Hmmmmm ….You must be my father's guest. Why are you trying to escape?" She asked, and I turned to leave. She didn't look like she wanted to help.
"Don't bother! You can't leave; I see you are deeply injured. I feel bad for you, but I advise you follow them or else you might have more injuries," she raised her shoulders and smiled. I grabbed her arms and dragged her to a corner that wasn't visible.
"Now! Look at me, little girl… I have no idea where I am or whose house this is, but I need your help. How can I leave without anyone figuring it out?" I looked at her, my eyes teary, my legs and hands fidgeting in fear.
"What's the use? You can't run back home because your parents are surely going to bring you back here, so I advise you follow them," she said.
"What do you mean?"
"See you around because we will be seeing each other often," she said and walked out.
I turned to leave, and I was surrounded by those hefty men once again. There was no way for me to run anymore; I just fell on my knees and burst into tears.
"Please… it's my birthday today. Let me go," I stuttered, and they burst into laughter.
"Happy Birthday, petty," one of them said and grabbed my arms.
"You are hurting me…" I cried out as they dragged me back inside. I saw the little girl playing with her toys in the living room, and she walked to where I was.
"I told you won't be able to escape, right?"
