Deja Vu Two Years Later. It was my birthday today, and I decided that I was going to go all out for myself. That was because I found peace after the three nights of my life that I just can't seem to forget. Two years ago on this day, I was abducted to be married to someone I had no idea who it was, but luckily, I managed to escape. I ran off to a small community, a rural area where nobody was going to notice me. I changed my name, cut my long hair, and dyed it. I was trying to start a new life after that day, and I eventually got it. I work part-time as a librarian. Obviously, I had to give up college, and that wasn't the only thing I gave up; I deleted all my social media accounts and profiles. I was in hiding. "Happy Birthday, Lia! Get off work and throw a party," my manager insisted, and I smiled. I went with the name Lia as my new name because it was similar to my old one, but because I didn't want to risk chances, I didn't use my old name. "I will have a party with Paul… I'm heading home now." One of the things I found when I came to this small town was love. I started dating Paul a few months ago, and I kept everything about me a secret. He knew me as Lia, the girl he fell in love with when he came to get a book at the library. He's also new in this town, so lying to him was easy. I wanted to tell him the truth, but I just couldn't. "Is he coming to pick you up?" my manager asked. "Nope… I will walk home; I also want fresh air too. See you tomorrow, Mr. Tom," I said, checking out. "See you tomorrow, Lia." As I walked past a boutique, I thought about getting myself a gift. It was then I felt like someone was watching me. I looked around, but nobody was there. After a while, I saw a couple coming out from a corner; I figured they were the ones behind the sneaky steps. I got myself the dress and left afterward. The alley leading to the apartment I share with Paul was a lonely walk, but I was already used to the atmosphere. But this night felt awkward; the streetlights weren't on, and I felt it again. It was as though someone was following, and I started to run faster. Before I knew it, too many started to chase me. I tried calling for help, but nobody was around to help; my phone battery died immediately I tried to put it on. It was obvious that I was about to get robbed. "What's going on?" I said to myself, panting heavily as I kept running. I ran faster than my legs could carry, and my legs failed me; I fell down, and they caught up with me. Their faces were masked; they weren't armed, so I felt like I could run, but they outnumbered me. "Who are you, and what do you want?" I stuttered, panting heavily. I was still on the floor. One of the men opened his mask, and my eyes widened in shock. It was a familiar face. Before I could say anything, a substance was sprinkled on me, and everything went blank. I opened my eyes slowly. My eyes were still blurry, so I struggled to open them bright and clear, and immediately everything became clear. I was in that room again. I stood up in shock, looking around. My head kept spinning in confusion; it was like I was in a daze. The same room I had been locked up in on this same day. "How long have you been sleeping, and how did you get here?" I kept asking myself questions. I couldn't believe my eyes; it started to come back, and I remembered the man I had seen in the alley. He was that one man that caught me when I was trying to escape the first time. "No way! They've been following me. What now? Think! Think!" I started to move around, but my brain was blank, and I started to fidget in fear. "What's going on?" I said to myself, and someone replied. "We are getting married." I heard the voice from behind, and my eyes met with his. I've never seen him before, and even in my state, I was stunned by his appearance. But what stood out was what he said. "Who are you?" I asked. "The groom you left at the altar two years ago. How dare you disrespect my family and me like that!" He barked, and I immediately flinched. "Let me go, please…" I begged. "Well… We have taken care of your so-called boyfriend and the life you left there… The maids are coming to get you ready again… We will start off from where we stopped two years ago," he said and turned to leave. "What do you mean?" "We are getting married today!"
