Joanna wondered if she should say anything, then decided sometimes it was better to just keep quiet. Angela might have been the prima of the McAllister clan, but it was clear that her aunt was still very protective of her. Since Rachel looked as though she was ready to let it go, no point in stirring things up.
“We’re going to take Joanna to meet Kirby, too,” Angela added. “I figured it was probably better to test the spell on a few different people, just to be safe.”
“Yes, I suppose that’s best,” Rachel responded, still looking troubled. “And it’ll give her a chance to see a bit more of the town.”
“It seems very charming,” Joanna put in, hoping that was an innocuous enough statement.
“It is,” Rachel said. “I hope you’ll get to spend a little time here to explore.”
