WRITERS POV
The leaf crumbled into ash between Sadie’s fingers.
For a second, the surrounding fell silent,
Then the shadows behind the wall twitched not naturally, like it had a life of its own
Harper stiffened immediately. “You know who it is?”
Sadie glanced over her shoulder lazily, but her eyes were sharp now, and dangerous in a way Harper rarely saw.
“I said it’s her, I didn’t say I knew her”
Sadie teased her a little,
“That explains nothing” Harper rolled her eyes arms folded beneath her chest,
She was completely ignored as Sadie kept walking away, Harper hurried after her
“Just tell me who is her” She whined,
“The kind of person you don’t survive twice, just imagine the four elements of earth against you, how gruesome will your death be?” Sadie replied simply
“You are f*****g kidding me”
“Yes I am”
“Come on Sadie, this isn’t a game, stop walking like you are going to some f*****g picnic when some dead ass b***h is watching my steps”
Sadie suddenly stopped, and Harper almost crashed into her
“If she wanted us dead Harper, you would be dead already” With a snap of her fingers Sadie appeared back in the library hallway dark with mist
Harper quickly lit flames on her finger tip, her senses stretched outward searching yet nothing
No heartbeat
No breathing
No footsteps
Just darkness
Then — a whisper “Pathetic” it came from everywhere,
“Who’s there” Harper asked, soft laughter echoed through the corridor,
From behind a figure emerged it’s hand resting on Harpers shoulder, she screamed and jumped, scared out of her wits
Sadie just stood there nodding,
“Truly pathetic” Harper let out a sigh of relief straightening her back,
“Couldn’t you find a better way to approach”
Another figure emerged from the shadows near the ceiling, not walking, possibly floating
The girl looked their age, dressed in blue robe that dissolved into smoke at the end. Long colourful hair and elemental markings glowing faintly on her skin,
Harper instantly stepped in front of Sadie,
“Seriously?” she asked rather too softly,
“What do you want” Harper asked
And she was ignored again, the new girls gaze remained fixed on Sadie despite being up in the ceiling
“You have grown”
“Unfortunately”
The girl smiled faintly, her heels touching the ground,
Harper frowned confused, looking between them,
“You know each other?”
“Barely” Sadie replied,
“That hurts” the girl dramatically placed a hand on her chest
The mist disappeared
“She’s literally manipulating everything”
“No” Sadie corrected calmly but not breaking eye contact with the other girl“They obey her naturally, there’s a difference”
“That isn’t comforting” Harper said pulling dramatically on the ground
“Still as rude as ever Sadie”“And you’re still overly dramatic, Mia”
“Thanks for the compliment, it’s rare to get those from you” Mia said walking to carry Harper up,
“I’m not that scary you know” she added to Harper.
“Sure, you just have a unique way of giving fright” Harper rolled her eyes letting Mia raise her up
“You owe me an explanation Sadie” she stated,
The temperature dropped, walls cracked,
Sadie’s expression remained calm,
“Someone is here, how many more heart attacks do I get today” Harper groaned while Mia sighed dramatically,
“Must they always interrupt our reunion”
The hallway trembled violently, a blast of silver energy exploded through the walls,
Blocks pieces shattered everywhere,
Dust particles filled the air,
Footsteps echoed
Heavily, confident.
Three figures stepped forward uniforms marked with the royal crest,
Shapeshifters
“Oh you’ve got to be kidding me” Harper said face pale.
The leader stepped forward, tall white-haired, cold blue eyes. He looked Older than them by maybe two or three years,
“Well” the male said calmly “this is troublesome”
Mia clicked her tongue in annoyance.
“You brought some spare training dogs”
The male ignored her. His gaze landed directly on Sadie. Then he smiled slightly,
“So you really are alive”
Sadie looked completely unimpressed
“Unfortunately for you”
Harper looked utterly confused, “Can someone please explain what’s happening?”
“No” everyone answered simultaneously
“Great”
“Orders are orders” he said lightly “Hand over the Nature wielder”
Vines grew from the ground thick and ready to attack,
“I don’t follow p*****s”, Mia said, voice suddenly darker.
The other shifters immediately drew weapons,
Sadie sighed loudly.
“This is why I hate social interaction”
“You could simply cooperate” the leader suggested
“And you could throw yourself into a volcano” Sadie replied
“Or maybe we can solve this like adults and not get entangled with armed psychopaths” Harper said
“Too late” she said,
The leader vanished, Harper’s eyes widened.
It was fast.
Way too fast,
A silver blade suddenly appeared inches from Sadie’s throat—
but black smoke wrapped around it, with a swift pull Mia pulled the weapon away,
The corridor exploded into movement
These people were monsters, meanwhile Sadie still hadn’t moved.
She leaned against the wall casually,while chaos erupted around her,
Harper stared at her in disbelief while suspending one of the shifters in the air,
“Can you HELP?”
“You seem alive” Sadie said lazily
“That’s not the point”
Mia fought, attacking with spine, mist blades and more, the shifter barely dodged
Harper joined in, fighting beside her
“Not useless after all” Mia complimented
“Thanks… i think”
The white haired leader spun his spear before lunging again.
This time directly toward Sadie,
Something changed, the air itself became heavy,Sadie finally lifted her eyes, the moment she did— Everything stopped,
Even the dust stopped moving,
Harper glared at her “took you long enough”
“Maybe I should have been the one to aim the spear” Mia rolled her eyes,
The white haired leader strained violently against the invisible force trapping him,
He smirked despite being frozen,
“So the rumors are true”
“You talk too much”
She snapped her fingers and the pressure vanished, everyone staggered and the leader coughed blood but kept smiling while the other shifters looked horrified
“You can’t hide forever”
“I don’t plan to” Sadie replied boredly
One of the shifters whispered urgently
“We need to leave—”
“I know” he turned to Sadie “They will come for you”
She yawned
"I will keep flowers on their grave”
With that they were gone
“We have alot to catch up on Sadie” Mia said excitedly
“Sure thing”
“What are you called again—Nature…” Harper asked Mia
“Nature wielder, the one and only” she bowed and everyone chuckled,
They walked out, the library door opened loudly,
“Not again” Harper groaned, two people stood and slowly stepped in—
“We had to rush over here when we sensed the use of whatever it’s called” Merlinda said stepping in,
“Wrong use of words Merlinda, you didn’t rush over here” Mia corrected,
“Mia….” she squealed jumping forward to hug her
“Calm down little frost” Mia chuckled,
“Where did you disappear to, Sadie left and you followed, i was even thinking of running away too” she pouted,
Mia squinted her eyes then asked
“Why are your lips red and what is this bite mark on your neck”
Merlinda quickly pulled back, face red,
She looked away “it’s nothing”
“Quite the definition of rushing over” Sadie said rolling eyes,
“What happened here” Chloe finally asked
“Short answer, am dead” Harper replied walking out shoulders slumped—
