The battlefield was a mess. Beasts had broken through the wall blocking the pass and several dragons and riders were downed. Some of them laying at odd angles gave my stomach a twist. The beasts were moving in disciplined formations. There was a leader somewhere near. It was also more beasts than I have ever seen.
"I do not want to leave you on the ground." Bain said in my head.
"I'll be ok old friend."
"Because you have something to live for now?" Bain replied.
"Don't start on that again." I growled back. It was hard enough leaving Rose at the dorm. I didn't need Bain reminding me of her every two seconds. He had said his peace about her and I told him my firm 'no' more than once. She didn't need to be tied to me and my issues. "Let me know if you spot one of them."
