CHAPTER 11- BLACK FUR

ZACHARY

Kygo was feeling a lot better. We took a shower and then got dressed. Opening the door I saw a woman with long curly dark blonde hair, piercing blue eyes, and tanned skin. She was wearing a long dress victorian style. “Did she traveled time?” 

    -Good morning Alpha king.

She made a reverence. Kygo felt uncomfortable.

    -Brittany, there's no need for that many formalities.

I continue my walk to the kitchen. She followed behind. Entering I didn't saw anyone. I open the fridge and didn't find anything that could be cooked or that was not in a rotten state.

    -Don´t you have a chef or actual food to eat?

    -You want breakfast? I will hunt for you. 

She took her dress off in the kitchen. It was easily removed, even though it looked really hard and complex. Her body was slim but really fit, her muscles were in shape. I feel Kygo. “Kygo?” I heard the door and didn't saw her in the Kitchen anymore. “She is fast.” Kygo sounded really impressed. Her scent was vanilla with roses. I took a deep breath. “Simple and elegant.” I dared to say nothing, and Kygo was also keeping silent. Some minutes passed and we heard a howl. Walking outside we saw a grey wolf with the snout and part of the face black. She had a dead deer in her paws. “She wants us to eat with her.” “Okay Kygo, let’s transform.” I let Kygo take control. He walked with confidence to her and started to devour the deer. He tore a large piece and threw it to her. She jumped and cached in the air. She also started to eat. The taste of the meat was great, but I was savoring some scrambled eggs with bacon. As we started to clean our fur from the bloodstains. I smelled Alpha Scott.

    -It´s good that you are already getting to know your Luna.

I changed back to my human form.

    -Is she serving you the right way?

    -Thanks for your concern Alpha Scott.

I didn't say more and just walk inside. I took a nap and wake up to a heated discussion. Trying to identify the owners of the voices I heard some knocks on my door. The smell gave the person away.

    -You can come to Brittany.

The door opened revealing Brittany with a huge dress on. “Or should we say a dress with a Brittany on?” I chuckled a bit.

    -Would you like to walk with me in the gardens?

    -Did you mean if I would like to go for a run?

    -No, just walking and talking.

I sat on the bed and put my shoes on. I stood up and she grabbed my arm and started walking. When getting down the stairs she almost tripped and held on tight to me. “She doesn't know how to walk in those shoes.” I carried her the rest of the way down.

    -You should change the shoes before the walk.

    -Thanks for your concern but I'm okay.

We kept walking. “Zac, I am smelling another wolf close.” “Rouge?” “No, more like a female, but just in case stay alert.” “Thanks for the heads up.” I took a big breath and some daisy smell appeared. She guided me to a beautiful garden with a lot of flowers in full bloom.

    -Do you like my garden?

    -Yes, it's really beautiful.

    -So how many kids would you like?

I froze at that moment. “Kids!” 

    -The amount is not a problem, we would have the amount you want.

She kept speaking with a strange smile in her face and no emotion. “Is she in trance or just nuts?” “Don´t know.” “Zac, she is freaking me out.” I back off and heard some giggles. “The daisy smell came from there!” I took a rock from the ground and threw it in the direction Kygo pointed. As I heard a scream, Brittany ran in the same direction. Laying on the floor was an old lady with a maid uniform.

    -Janet are you okay?

Brittany was helping the old lady up, she had a huge bump in the head were my rock hit her. Brittany then turned and looked at me. “Why all the women we meet looked at you as if they want to kill you?”

    -I don't care you are the Alpha King if you touch Janet even a little rough, I will fight you! 

    -No Brittany, remember the protocol.

    -I don't care about the protocol, you are hurt Janet.

I heard some strong steps and turn to find a pissed Scott.

    -What are you doing in the dirt Brittany?

    -Janet she...

    -I don’t care what Janet is doing. Just keep your walk and behave like a lady!

    -I’m not like mom! I don’t like this dress or the stupid makeup you make me wear!

I saw more she-wolves with maid uniform walking in our direction. “Grab her and run!” I took her hand and started to run to the forest.

    -Wait Janet! 

    -There are more people going, they would help her.

I looked back and saw Alpha Scott shifting. I started to shift myself and saw Brittany doing the same. Now in wolf form we run faster. She was young and could almost run at my speed. “Don't run faster Kygo, we can lose her.” She then turned left and kept running, I followed her. Now in wolf form her scent was stronger. She had a strong run, her paws were in complete harmony. She jumped a big log like if it was a branch. “Did you saw that Zac?” “Yes, she is agile.” Then she stopped at a cliff. Turned to look at me and started to walk backward. “What is she doing?” “Zac, I think she is planning to fall?” “Don't be silly Kygo, who in his..” I keep looking and she didn't stop she lift her front paws and let the gravity take her down the cliff. “NO!” Kygo ran to the edge, to find a lake just thirteen feet down. “Did I scare you?” I felt her in the link. “Yes you did.” Then I felt Kygo jumping down. The water was cold, but with my wolf fur, was bearable. She swam to the edge and Kygo followed her. She entered the woods and came back in human form with some pants and a hoodie.

    -Put this on!

She threw another pair of pants and a hoodie my way. I took the clothes and shift behind the trees. Walking back I saw her washing her face in the lake.

    -Sorry, I´m not a person of makeup and dress. So if that's what you like you can go find another Luna.

    -Sorry, I’m not a person of makeup and dress also.

She laugh and sat in some rocks. I walked and sat next to her.

    -Aren´t you worried that my dad would hurt your friend?

    -Nelson is contacting some friends outside the pack land. He will come back after lunch. And I plan to be there. Your father is not going to touch him again.

    -I’m sorry for that, I was not here but I heard about the incident. My father is a good dad, but the loss of his mom hit him hard. 

    -Don’t you feel alone without your mom?

    -While growing up I always had my brother, and Janet. By my eighteenth birthday I thought I would have my mate, but as you know it didn’t happen. But that day even though it was not a mate I won a sister! And now I will have a nephew! I don’t know if you will believe me, but my dad always looks after me his way. 

    -Didn’t you get mad when you learned your brother found his mate and not you? 

    -At first yes. I thought that that day was my day, but then he was already thirty eight he deserved to find his mate. And Lilly made him so happy. She was the one to pressure him to defend himself from my father. I think my father never spoke something bad about Lilly because Maverick will turn his Alpha side and fight him. Maverick doesn't care what father says of him, but never allowed anything bad said about Lilly or me.

We kept talking about her childhood, the kingdom interest, ideas to keep balance between packs, theories of the right way to rule, and it didn't matter the topic she was well informed and had good ideas. “She is great Zac.” “I know Kygo.” I felt a heaviness in my heart. “Alpha, I’m entering Red Tail land.” I quickly stood up.

    -We need to get going. Nelson will arrive at any moment. 

I started to undress and she did the same. Before I started to run, I looked at her. “Indeed her wolf is amazing” Kygo started to run, and the cold wind was brushing our fur. The smell of the forest, the cold wind, and a beautiful wolf running behind us. “I feel happy Zac.” “I feel happy too Kygo” But as in his words and mine there was a bit of sadness, they were true, we were happy but something felt wrong. Arriving at the main house I saw Alpha Scott outside, with Maverick. I transformed and saw Nelson leaving the Kitchen with a tablecloth. He put it in my shoulders and I used it to cover myself. “Did he do something to you?” “No Alpha, Maverick kept him in line.” I looked at Maverick and smile at him. I saw to maids running with a pink bathrobe.

    -Who did you think you are? Running away from me!

I was about to answer.

    -I’m an Alpha blood daughter, and I am able to choose my own path!

Alpha Scott walked to her daughter and slap her. I ran and was able to stop him before he could connect another slap.

    -Don’t interfere with this! My ways of parenting do not involve you!

    -They involve me if you are planning to hit your next queen!

Everyone became silent. I turn and saw Nelson, who looked confused. My stomach felt like if it was going to explode. I just grab her and entered the house. She took her hand away from me.

    -Why did you say that!

“She looks pissed.”

    -Because it makes sense. You are smart, strong, and real.

    -Real?

    -Yes, you don't care about looks, you are true to yourself.

    -But I’m not your mate.

    -And I’m not your mate either.

    -Okay, I accept.

We just stood there looking at us. “So this is it Zac?” “Yes Kygo, I think this is it.” “Well she may be not mate, but she is a great she-wolf and would be an amazing Luna to the kingdom” Kygo was trying to sound positive, but I could feel the sadness in his words. The door opened.

    -You two love birds must rest!

Alpha Scott came in and started to push Brittany upstairs.

    -Brittany, go and have a bath. Tomorrow morning we will start the ceremony!

    -But dad I haven't hunted yet!

    -No need for you to eat tonight, no one likes a fat bride!

I was out of strength to fight him, and I think Brittany felt the same because she didn't respond to that. Everyone started to go outside. Nelson saw me and walked to me.

    -Did you really mean it?

    -Yes I did.

I sighed. He looked at me with pity? or is it pride? I don´t care. I sat at the kitchen table.

    -Aren't you joining the hunt?

    -Not feeling like it.

    -I will bring some for you.

He walked out. I heard the howls and growls of the hunt. Nelson linked me to tell me he capture a deer and I went outside to eat with him. After finishing dinner I went to my room and lay on the bed. I wasn’t able to sleep at all, but not Kygo or me spoke a word. “Alpha, are you awake?” The sudden voice of Nelson in my head surprised me. “Yes, Nelson. Is everything alright?” “Yes, just wanted to check on you. Are you feeling better?” My body relaxed. “Yes Nelson, I think my body got used to human food and the raw meat is just a little heavy for me right now.” “Okay Alpha.” I closed my eyes. “Alpha?” “Yes Nelson.” “There's something for you in the fridge.” Then he closed the link “Nelson?”  No answer “Kygo try to contact Hitch.” “There's no answer Zac.” I stood up and walked to the kitchen. Entering I saw a man with a container, but I knew the smell.

    -That’s mine!

He gave the container to me and left the kitchen. I sat and open the bag. I found a note.

I pulled the note closer to my nose, and the smell of casablanca lilies and rain flooded my lungs. I open the container and saw a big piece of lasagna. I take the container and put it in the microwave. As I returned to the table I gave it a bite and felt something touching my cheek. I looked for the source… water? “You are crying, Zac.” I cleaned them fast as I heard steps approaching the kitchen. Brittany came running to me.

    -Zac! I know what I said but… I can’t be your Luna I’m not ready to give up my mate just yet.

She looked at me.

    -Zac?

    -I think I found my mate.
